@prosenator russians have no heart. There wasn't a single russian in the stanley cup finals, and russia blew a fat one in olympics with a loaded team. Oh and the capitals, regular season champs and having the most russians of any team... Made history by being the biggest choke team in nhl history, no team has ever lost as a 1st seed to an 8th seed when they were up by two games. Good job russians. Great year.

It wasn't a good year for Russia, I know that :P But they won to World Chamionships in a row in 08 and 09, so yeah they have heart:P But dude... what the f*** happend to the USA in the World Championship this year? Bottom group, yeah that's right! And the Caps blew. But in 2006 the Oilers were at the 8th place in the western conference, still they made the final.

Those are like 3rd line nhl players, world junior championships and olympics are the only international competitions where the best of your country competes. World championships don't mean jack. And what about the 2006 oilers? Looking at their roster i don't see a single russian in the top 15 scoring on the team. Russians simply rarely perform in the post season/in big games. And the thing that seperates teams in those games is heart.

And Bettmans plans about don't allowing the NHL players to play in the olympics in Russian in 2014 makes every national tournament mean jack? Malkin won the cup with the Pens in 09 and he was clearly one of the Pens keyplayers.
