i remember talking to a work friend lee connal at wholesale fittings in manchester in the 1980s and i was unable to think what this episode was called .but was soon as i mentioned space 1999 he went for the same memory .lee if your out there it would be nice to catch up !! tony beer
and you changed the set as barbra bain called it a big lovely authentic set to this little room with a small screen , just made it crap lost all of the feel , the layout of the base, the music the whole thing flushed right down the crapper well done Mr Anderson.
why ! why cant gerry anderson read these postings ! dont hire people like freddy F he ruined the 2nd season ! Mr Anderson this episode the soundtrac even of barry gray this is what american , canadian etc audiances liked , not this 2nd year crap of freddys making . Testament of arkadia , collision course, deaths other dominion , this , these are episodes not the garbage including w/stupid soundtrac of the 2nd season . Mr Anderson you finished badly ! please pass this on to the man!
Thirty-five years after this episode aired, it remains a powerful metaphor of what we fear most -- the unknown. For the first time, it showed us that among the true wonders of this universe there are terrors out there that we couldn't possibly imagine.
This was one of three episodes of this show (and this was by far the scariest to me as a kid) that really upset me: the other two were "End of Eternity" (where the people were screaming and they showed the portraits) and the one about the seance and the guitarist, where the burned-up ghost from the future terrorized the past...
Funny, I'm writing this novel where one of the most important characters is named Cellini. Only this Cellini is a woman named Isabella. Furthermore, I imagine her as looking like one of my favorite actresses - Monica Bellucci.
I think this episode, along with '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea', led to my lifelong fascination and study of tentacled horrors. Definitely pointed me in the direction of Howard Phillips Lovecraft. Great episode. Gave me nightmares.
Anyone able to identify the episode with the moon machine that moved on a couple of outer spokes, but no rims? It was a sorta windmill thing an astronaut could ride in. Am I remembering a dream?
One of the best episodes of the first season. It was very haunting when I was a kid. The first season starts out kind of sluggish but this one makes up for it.
This was a pivotal episode; it was this one that showed us a glimpse of just what unkown terrors might await the Crew of Alpha in their journey across DEEP space!
gianni garko his own voice with italian accent . sartana in space .

That sounds like the episode, "The Infernal Machine". It had Leo McKern in it.
The machine was sentient and had a companion. When the companion dies, it wants a replacement.
