  • My first car was a 87 xt fwd turbo,i loved it!I want another realy.

  • I like all subarus sept the tribecca,

I would really like to see a 2 door coupe come back. this car looks so technologically advanced!

  • @Shishizurui Your gonna get your wish... Hello Subaru BRZ... lol

  • The red stripe says "beew!" Nice car man, keep it going.

  • I had one when I was in Germany back in 87-93....loved driving that thing at 125 MPH. It was Front wheel drive and NO turbo but had a slick 5 speed manual with AC. Ramstein to Maintz after the autobahn was finished was about an hour.

  • got to love hte old busses. ive had a few. am looking for an svx. i call em busses cause subaro spelled backwards says U R A BUS. htese cars take alot of schtuff and come back for more

  • what a weird steering wheel and weird subie jaajaj

  • i just picked up a red one in horrible shape.

    i am parting it out.

  • Nice!

  • We need to see an engine bay shot.

  • way ahead of its time

  • Nice video but the guy is hard to understand. Talks like he's either chewing on food or has bad dentures.

  • this car looks like NERV from evangelion

  • shit my pants! I WANT ONE!

This would go perfect with my 1987 Merkur XR4Ti

Both are so unique noone is familiar with them.

  • i love when people do these kind of car tour videos. very helpful, thanks!

  • nice subaru runs smooth and sounds nice .i have a 1983 gl

  • Any chance of you getting a vid of the "wonder wedge's" air ride in action?

  • I may redo these videos since i have access to a Lumix camera and much better vid quality. The air sus and its height switch will be featured along with the flush door releases.

  • HEy if you ever play Toyo extrem or some shit like that the Subaru XT turbo is in that came.....I play this car really good...with they body kit in all this car is fuckin sick man!

  • cool car,

  • What year did these cars get the seatbelt that moved when you opened/closed the door?

  • My previous XT (88 XT6) had them. Not sure if 87's did. The 87.5 models may have, not sure.

  • My '89 has them. Neat feature, but it made me lazy lol. Now when i drive anything else, i complain when the seatbelt stays on when i open the door.

  • I owned one of these cars. It was cute and fun but a pain in the ass to keep running ....trust me. They are extinct now.

  • bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing. bing.

lol. annoying ignition! looks great in and out though. 5/5

  • I had one. It was great. When it idled,, there was absolutely no vibration.

  • Super smooth and quiet for a 4 cylinder.

  • that thing looks like the goddamn millennium falcon from star wars hahaha - good shit

  • Recently 2 different people asked me if the car was the same as the "Back to the Future" car. It's not a Delorean of course!

  • Is it comfortable? Looks like the suspension could be a little stiff.

  • Yes, very comfortable. The air shocks really soak up the bumps!

  • I had one exactly like this on it was 5spd. Mine was a white 85 with the same black to white stripe. I love these things, I've had 2. And you forgot about the push-in door handle thing. :)

  • it took me for ever to learn to open the doors on one of these lol

  • turn that fucking ignition off its pissing me off! What a ghastly example of 80s japanese styling, interesting car tho...

  • I love everything about this car! I wich I could have one :P

  • You forgot about the heat- and fan-control etc. between the seats :)

BTW, the car seems to be in very good condition.

  • it's also at the same location as the Ferrari testarossa's controls btw :)

  • You forgot the Single windshield wiper lol

  • My father had this car (an '87). It was definitely ahead of its time. I believe some newer Nissan's have this option where the dash moves in conjunction with the tilting of the steering wheel. It's being hailed as this great thing by Car and Driver magazine, yet existed over 20 years ago. Love the posts next to the sterring wheel where you can adjust the heating, great idea.

  • hmm... looks very scifi

    i like it !

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Do you have a video of it revving up? I've always wondered what the older Subaru engines sound like.....

  • the sound like sPEED with a whopper with cheese

  • Old Subaru's sound just like new ones if they have the right exhaust setup.

  • It's a very distinctive sound. The firing order has the cylinders firing bank to bank. That gives it a low pitch rumble. It's the WRX sound only muffled more.

  • THANKS SO MUCH...now ive got it just the way i want it...the black long thing is the thing on the side of the backseat window and rear windshield...mine is just faded, has like a brown scrathched surface, i think it's just rust or something from being old...

  • if you stop the vid at about 41-42 seconds, the black long thing that's in b/w the rear windshield and the driver's side backseat window, is it faded away, like has a brownish grayish surface on it or something like that?

  • Looks like my long driveway reflected in the rear glass.

  • I don't get it..you can not only move your steering wheel down and up, but front as well? i didn't undertand my owner's manual at all when it mentioned all those levers, lever a, lever b...whatever that means...how do you do it? i can't tell...but ive been meaning to do that for a while now..

  • The wheel can move up and down-the dash moves with it. Do this with the lever recessed into the side of the steering column. A handle on the main spoke of the wheel releases the wheel to move it in and out.

  • DANG! WOW..thats all i got to say...thanks, wayne..i love my XT even more now, knowing it was like 10,000 12000 or something...thanks

  • it seems like ur type of rims are a lot easier to clean then the other types of rims the 1986 year had available...and how much do u think the XT (DL to the turbo) cost back in its time?

  • These rims have some clear finish on them that has partially flaked off. But, you only tell really close up.

The basic DL XT cost just under $8,000US in 86 and the XT FWD Turbo was Subaru's most expensive car that year. The car as you see it cost almost $18,000US

I hear that the XT was designed personally by Harvey Hamm, who was then CEO of Subaru of America and intended primarily for the US market.

  • i could be wrong but the xt turbo seems like its longer in the inside than the other XT's (the DL, GL, GL-10 to the turbo)...it seems like it because the moonroof is taking up a lot of space on the roof..and it seems the roof was extended for the back

  • All the XT's from 85-87 had identical bodies. In 87.5 the front was extended a few inches and the bumper changed to accomodate the new 2.7 litre 6 engine.

  • yep and i love it...

  • does the moonroof open all the way or does it just tilt up?

  • Yes, you can take if off and stow it in the trunk. There are straps in the trunk to tie it down. Do you still have an XT?

  • looks beautiful...very unique character and shape..never miss one day without appreciating the beauty of mine..
