  • 1/9 twist?

  • I'm not saying building one is bad, I'm going to build one also but I don't know if it will necessarily be better or worse. You could build one using quality parts such as upper and lower, it's still going to cost some $ or you could buy a complete cheap gun or a standard M&P

  • I will pay for a name brand. My PWS MK116 works like a beast. No problems here and it's beautiful to boot. If someone came at me with a hammer I don't think he would hit my gun with it. I would slap the hell out of him for that. That's just cruel.

  • You think yours is better, well let me introduce you to john noveske at noveske.com good luck topping those AR's with your quickie piston system

  • Why you so worried about hammers.. nobody is going to charge someone holding an AR15 with a ball pein!

  • All you have is a rod that slams into a carrier. Your bragging about an inferior system. I own a Stag Model 8, its the same think as your Adams Arms, But my LWRC M6 will out last the Adams or Stag system.

  • I have an Adams gas piston upper in 5.45 russian that I put together for $520 and a cmmg gas piston in 5.56 (used) on gunbroker for $610. I have shot at least 6000 rounds through both and have cleaned them twice. My friend's pof is nice But costs him twice as much ... Broken cam pin. My other buddies lwrc extractor is finicky, pmc won't extract, only expensive ammo.

  • @tanhelmet I dont know what your talking about, my LWRC M6 eats anything from Wolf to Hornady,

  • Good luck getting resale value on that. My rock river cost me close to $1400 with out optics if I built it my self would've been close to $2000 mind you mine was in no way ordered stock

  • I like buying a name. I'll pay extra for it.

  • I have an Adams Arms piston kit also. So far it hasn't failed me yet and I love the way that the bolt carrier group remains cool and clean no matter how many rounds I fire. I had an M6A2 from LWRC and it was a lot harder to clean but it did seem more robust!

  • for less? my rock river arms elite operater 2 cost me $1100........but that buys me a $170 bolt carriee assembly, $155 handguard, $155 rear sight, $85 front sight, $120 match grade trigger, $150 stock, $200 barrel, $145 forged upper and a $140 forged lower so pleas tell me how your going to save me over $250 by building my own?

  • under heavy fire conditions the piston is the only thing keeping the gun ejecting shells, wouldnt it be better to have more than one click between you and failure? im not here to judge it just seems like it would be less reliable than one built in, persay you didnt get it fully installed then were in a life and death situation, the piston shot out the front of the gun, rendering it totaly and utterly useless?

  • Quality??? You got a Hammer forged barrel on that puppy???

  • @Luddhabuddha amen! Completely agree.

  • There's no reason to put a gas piston in an AR-15 all it can do is cause problems and solves zero, buy a gun or build a gun with quality parts and it wil be extremely reliable.Colt, Daniel Defense, BCM,and KAC all make quality stuff keep em lubed and there will be no problems, if for whatever reason you dont like lube then get a BCG from Fail Zero.

  • can i swap out the bolt on a .22 lr AR15 and put a 223 bolt in there to fire 223? ive heard you can put a 22 bolt in a 223 upper and fire 22....

  • @notanotherCoDfan yes you can but i think a .22 dedicated barrel is more accurate.

  • @fitbmxseries1 i just want to buy a .22 AR and put a .223 bolt in there since it would be cheaper than buying a 223 and gettting a 22 bolt :)

  • @notanotherCoDfan jesus christ i read that backwards lol, that wont work because the barrel will be a .22 barrel is differnt size then a .223 the chambers are differnt on .22 specific barrels too.

  • @fitbmxseries1 darn :/

  • @notanotherCoDfan no you can't make a dedicated .22 ar and make it a 223 it wont work.

  • @MrMosinNagant1937 damn. can i buy a 22 AR15 and get a 223 upper? :D

  • @notanotherCoDfan no one of those colt umarex .22 ar-15 wanna bes are not interchangeable same with the m&p 22

  • @notanotherCoDfan you would need to buy a .223 barrel then to because your brass case wouldn't go into the chamber

  • did you sell this to cokeman2423?

  • Why talk like something and someone you're not? You sound like a wanna be.

  • "1 click, all my shit comes out."

    Awesome

  • I'm not gonna personally attack nutnfancy. I appreciate his perspective and he has some good advice. That being said, I don't agree with everything he says. My favorite handgun is a beretta 90two 40 smith and wesson (the newest model). He thinks that a gun as heavy as mine shouldn't be used over a glock. I disagree. Glocks are not comfortable in my hands and don't balance right after a squeeze the trigger. I can't rapidly find my target again like i can with my beretta which is why i bought it.

  • Can I build one for under say 500$? Really want one but im on minimum wage so budgeting would be helpful.

  • @thatguru877 Don't expect to build it fast then....you can build a more expensive gun but you will just have to take your time and save up as you buy parts. Cheap isn't always a good thing....last thing you want is to hurt yourself.

  • @79regal I know I've been looking around and I think I can work out a package im happy with for under 600$ If you check out TMHonfire102's video I will most likely stick with that upper and lower and I am definately intrested in this piston kit.

  • @thatguru877 Under $500? Doubt it. Around $500 maybe up to $600. Sure. Send a PM if you're really interested.

  • what kind of ar15 is that

  • @BUCKrub91 and jimmyhoffa9 Nutnfancy doesn't think custom built ar15's suck. He just says if you have a problem with a custum built one your on your own, where as if you have a problem with a brand name fire arm you can always contact the manufacturer to get a fix or a part, usually at no cost to you.

  • very true, same as building a custom pc. cheaper, fun and its a waay better weapon for you personally. some people (nutnfancy) think ground up guns suck and are unreliable but he also wears camo to shoot in the desert.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 lol very true..im bout to put $314.89 in to my computer and ill have better performance than some 650-700 dollar Dell some guy at best buy was trying to sell me.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 Nutnfancy is a bumb bitch, he doesnt like some products so deems them not right for anyone else.

  • @thatguru877 yup damned right. followed like a sheperd he is. he's all about supposedly high value and reliability. . .and has an imac :P

  • @thatguru877 he dosnt do that at all...

  • @jimmyhoffa9 link me to the video where nutnfancy says that

  • @BUCKrub91 cant find it, but i think its his tactical squared away thing.

  • I'll adrdess all of you at once. I just tried to order my book and I couldn't, because it's so popular.

If anyone has any questions on the Workbench AR15 Project, I will answer them for you on this thread only.

  • @dahanks1 here's a thought, take that book you wrote and add a chapter about me banging out that slut you call mommy. I'll even send you pictures to add. Wrote the book...lol. Oh the bullshit some people come up with.

  • Some of you are idiots. I wrote the book for Paladin Press that shows you how to home build.

Putting a gun together from complete parts is home assembly. Finishing your own 80% receiver into a working gun is a home build.

  • @dahanks1 - y b a douche bag?

  • @brycejcox Because I literally wrote the book on how to do this, asshole. Anyone who misrepresents my instructions is the douchebag; not me.

  • @dahanks1 nobody cares what you wrote. nobody here is going to "home build their gun" you are just pissed because nobody is buying your book. because people are smart enough to just buy a gun and then have time to go have some fun instead of pleading with people on youtube to believe you are the best gunbuilder in the world! go build a 50BMG and choke on it.

  • @GozonTheGonsarian It;s Paladin's best-selling titlr, Dude.

  • @GozonTheGonsarian I am ecstactic, because a lot of people are buying my book. Try and order it. Oh well, you are nothing but a POS who has a small dork, and tries to make himself feel big by ordering from north of the river.

  • cool rifle what the heck is that piston?

  • because if its not Mil-Spec its not worth it

  • what's the price comparison.

  • This is home assembled, not home built. There is a huge difference. Finishing your own lower makes it a home build.

  • @dahanks1 Not quite. Machining your own lower from a 80% lower makes it a home build.

  • @fffreddie Exactly my point, and I am the author of the book that shows you how to do just that.

Assmebling parts is very different from maching your own lower.

  • @dahanks1 I never read your book. I have a very good mechanical aptitude. USMC jet mechanic and expert shot. I was never happy with off the shelf AR's and found it frustrating that I couldn't get what I wanted. That was years ago. Today we are very lucky that there are so many options in putting together a custom AR that is equal or superior to off the shelf AR's. To top it off you can build one for 1/4 to 1/2 the price of the major brands. This is even using the name brand parts.

  • @dahanks1 look out it's the samantics police. why u wanna piss on a mans parade? he put his gun together for a good price and is proud of it. so he's not an english major or a law student so what.

  • @GozonTheGonsarian No, he's a cheater. I show you how to build a true gun off the books. What part of this are you missing?

  • @dahanks1 I guess i am missing the part about why it is even important to you. he built a gun that goes bang and he likes it. i don't doubt that u can build a better gun it's just neither here not there. the real question is why does it make u feel better about yourself to belittle someone else. false sense of something maybe?

  • @GozonTheGonsarian Really? You don't understand what it means to build an AR15 with no record? Really, I'm the opne getting a check every six months.

  • alunimum

  • I run a POF gas piston upper w/ the 12X rail

You are correct, all of the piston components come right out of the front with a simple twist just like your Adams Arms. However the POF does not use a spring in the piston which makes it a breeze to clean (basically just wipe off). Also, the POF's have positions for suppressed or unsuppressed fire. On the other hand POF is more expense than an Adams build. Not saying either Piston system is better or worse. Great video, thanks for the knowledge.

  • If you spoke a bit louder you so could've been the new spokesman for oxy clean. your dialog sounded exactly like an infomercial. Nice gun btw

  • Is there any way I could get a list of everything or could you tell me where to find a list I really like this ar and I am disable and could never afford to buy and ar. If you cant help me thanks for putting the video out there enjoyed it.

  • Dude!!! Aside from the "Sup Bitches" you have pretty knowledgeable information. I'm working on building my next AR. I'll be using the Spikes Tactical billet upper and lower receivers with NP3 coating. Got a great deal on the receiver set. I don't have a channel just as yet but I'll be putting one up soon with all my "little friends"

  • there is so many thats what she saids i cant name all of them :P

  • When in the hell do you exspect to hit your gun with a hammer

  • How many different setting do you have on your piston system? i have a Ruger SR556 and my piston is just as easily removed, but i also have multiple settings so that even running subsonic ammo it will cycle flawlessly, same with more powerful rounds, wont slam the battery back into my buffer tube.

  • @Trueslax003 There are 3 settings.....full 12 o clock half 1 o clock and off 3 o clock

  • @Trueslax003 where did ya get it? cause im thinking about changing my bushy into a piston gun, but i cant find alot of reviews of pistons that weren't like with the brand name companies.

  • @TMHonfire102

Can you get a stripped plum crazy lower? I cant find one anywhere...just the complete lower halves only

  • @freestylmx311 They only come in complete lowers. Still a great deal though!

  • LWRC 's is what our team run , our lives depend on them!!!!!

  • ahahaha one click my shit comes out awesome keep it up

  • is that cokemans ar15

  • Building an AR15 from scratch has the problems of the parts not fitting together! Not a problem though if you know gunsmithing.

  • @wallabing not if you buy milspec.

  • @wallabing Not entirely true. The thing about AR's is that they are very universal and require no gunsmithing.

Go to brownells site and look at the videos on AR's these things are so inter changeable it's un believable.

You can buy kit assemblies that require no smithing. If you want to do it from scratch all you need is a few basic punches and screwdrivers. Hell most of the gun screws together.

  • 1:00 thru 1:30... That's what she said

  • is that a standard omega 7 rail or did you get the piston version? I have the regular omega 7 by daniel defense and was hoping this was compatible

  • @fjdel4585 this is the standard omega

  • @TMHonfire102 then why DD made pistol omega rail ? does it work with some type of piston kit ?

  • @TMHonfire102 i just bought a ddm4v7 heavy profile barrel for my first ar..

  • Is that the M&P15OR? Any difficulties installing the Adams piston system? I ask because I am thinking of doing the same.

  • Hey how cheap is yours bro I'm buying my bushmaster for 650 brand new from dealer

  • @jclass09

LOL! You still lose! Del-ton.com AR-15 basic kit undercuts you by about $200.

To all you non-builders out there it's not only about prices, building you're own gun not only has pride of making something, but more importantly teaches you the total ins and outs of whatever gun you built. Making repairs and modifications a breeze.

Btw $650? LOL there are cheaper dealers selling NIB (new in box/FFL trans fees) factory bushmaster AR's out there. Keep shopping dude.

  • would a plumb-crazy lower and a spike upper work together

  • @p8ntballninja my friend uses a armalite upper on a tactical machining lower.

  • @p8ntballninja

Should... ive seen others who have done just that, but isn't a spike's lower just as cheap?

  • Hey dude, what's the total cost on this? I want to sell a never-fired Bushmaster carbon 15 and use the money for building a cheap but real AR instead lol.

  • I dont mind a quality polymer lower, but it uses a plastic fcg which I dont particularly care for

  • How much money did u invest in this AR?

  • Great video. Super informative.

  • it looks clean! i had a question about your front sight set up. i just got an AR like a week ago so idk much yet but my question is can you slap that front sight set up on any AR or do u have to get a hand guard that is made for it?

  • how much did you get that ar for

  • The only problem for me was finding a stripped lower reciever.

  • how much total did this cost you for this complete ar?

  • Where do you get parts?

  • my uncle built one, he brought it over with a red dot on it. It was pretty nice i mean for how much less he paid, it was awesome!!!!

  • why the heck do you need chrome line bolt and bolt carrier when you have a piston system.

  • where do you buy the kits from what site ????

  • Sweet !!!

  • dude how much did you spent for thıs one?

  • @pilottunc He spent 528$

  • @texlyon so your gonna tell me he spent 300+ for the piston kit and the rest of the gun cost 230 bucks????!!!! i dont think so.

  • @pilottunc you gotta sho-um, I got mine for $275 abouts...

  • @pilottunc how does your i in the word "this" miss the little dot?

  • @pindaskater non-English keymap. Here, I'll make up for ït.

  • no doubt the plumcrazy lowers are pretty neat iv built quite a few...i will say yank the buffer and stock off its "clingy" and loose and the mag catch i dont trust it works flawless just feels very weak...no shelf for full auto but the trigger makes up for what it lacks. iv personally been in a gunfight using it and that trigger makes a world of diff. under stress. you do have to shave it down for the back pin on bushmaster/colt/lmt/noveske/stag/dpms uppers though

  • Special technology or not, I can't see a situation where I would just hit my AR with a hammer.

  • Comment removed

  • I have never needed to remove the piston from mine.

  • yes because you hit the lower and breaks the upper yea ok

  • im sorry but unless you buy all pof parts and put it together there is nothing compared to a pof. bushmaster, lwrc, rock river doesn't compare at all.

  • if i did a hooker and did not pay would that be a rape off lmao joking bro take the end cap off so the barrel will free flote

  • What barrel is on your rifle?

  • @BlackDuctTape thats a dpms ap4 1 in 9 and its not chrome lined that upper will crack soon lol

  • did you ever get the plum crazy lower??? if so how did that run???

  • @shadeshiest22 Just do a search on U-Tube for plumcrazy firearms and it will show you the link.

  • where do i buy the parts

  • " One Click My Shit Comes Out "

  • I would trust a rifle specifically designed as a piston rifle, rather than the Adam arms piston kits upgrade for an standard imprintment rifle.

  • what is alununum

  • if you have a Omega Free float rail, why did you leave the encap on the barrel, that negates the free float concept? I had installed the AA its is nice , you should remove the encap you dont need it on the barrel with the Omega X rail

  • Were did u purchase the piston conversion and how much? Very nice rifle

  • how much did this cost u?

  • you a mushmouth fukr

  • Why Buy an AR-15 when you can build one for less? Because i dont trust my workmanship lol. Besides, if i'm buying AR-based anything, it's a Kel tec PLR-16. It's cheaper, cooler, and technically a pistol so i can even carry it around if i want :D

  • @Mrbulldog762 You can buy a DSA upper receiver (minus BCG and charging handle) for $275, you can then get a standard BCG from them for $110 and a 7075 T6 aluminum charging handle for $14. You can also get a complete lower receiver with mil-spec stock assembly from DSA for $200. That's $599 + S&H and the fees that your FFL will charge you for the transfer. Granted, this doesn't come with a rear sight, mags or any extras and is a basic no-frills set-up, but it's an AR, and DSA is very reputable.

  • Dood, you didn't "build" an AR, you simply bought an upper and a lower and assembled it, big deal, that takes no longer than 5-10 minutes. Try making one for real from an 80% receiver (or even make your own receiver) and make your own barrel....that's "building" an AR.

  • so whats the deal with the gas piston deal about? does it make a noticeable difference? easier to clean, less recoil? i know most there is to know about AR 15s but i havent really gotten into this.

  • nice

  • ok, I know you aded the gas piston system yourself... Not a bad system... have you had alot of shoot time on it? Is their really bad bolt carrier tilt? Ande thanks NESurvivalPrep

  • Ok disregard. I watched another one of you're videos and found out it wasn't.

  • Just wondering

  • I do agree with the ease of removing, but I'm alittle curious if that is a not so metal mbus front sight on a metal gas block???

  • I really like the Adams Arms system. I have NO gunsmithing experience and installed mine in about 20min with only simple hand tools.

  • Comment removed

  • ok so i looked at PLUMCRAZYFIREARM's page and i cant find nothing about what your sayin about smachin the lower can you post the link to the vid. Thanks.... i pretty well know nothing about AR and i am looking to buy or build.. i just dont know anything about them i dont wanna fork out 1500 for what i can get for less...

  • @XratedTacos

You can just search plum crazy lower.

It's made of polymer like a Glock.

  • about how long/ hard was it 2 put tht on the gun wuld a new guy 2 ar 15s b able 2 build tht rifle bcuz i own alot of guns but only rifles and shotguns no ar 15s or anything like tht and i wuld like 2 build my own ar15 but dont know how dificult it wuld b im looking 4 a set up very close 2 urs, also how much did it cost 2 build? thank you!

  • i like colts M16A2 style AR-15's

  • Hi , I know nothing about the AR-15 . I have been looking to buy one lately. My local gunshop has a DPMS that a kid traded in . The thing has obviously been fired very little. It has a price tag of $ 640.00 What do I look for in barrel length, barrel twist etc. I want to use it mostly for long range so I assume the longer barrel the better. I plan to use an AK or 12 ga. for upclose social work, just need something to reach out. Thanks for your time !

  • Hey, first and foremost let me say that I've been following you here for a while (though I just subscribe due to I just found out how to on the iPod since it's what I use) and you are definetly one of the primary sources I go to to check out opinions and sorts. Anyway my question is have gotten your hands on the Plum Crazy's C-15 Lowers? If so what's your thoughts on it!?

  • Seems like the "Blow back" system was an advancement in technology back in 1957. Now company marketers have told us it sucks to replace it with the gas piston system of earlier years like the one used on heavier, beefier wooden handled rifles. Yes, Introducing friction heat that will make your gas block glow while trying to.dissipate heat..... Am I the only one that thinks its a shame?

  • HAMMER ATTACKS ON AR'S

That has never happened to me.

  • The m&p 15 piston system works the same way

  • how much do gas piston systems run and are thier any for a good price like in the 200-300 range

  • DPMS and 1:9 and Piston are not milspec. You are a joke and have no idea what youre talking about.

  • @glockfire Your names Glockfire, you must like inferior firearms.

  • @alexsell187 How juvenile can you be?

  • @glockfire In my experience with them, Glocks are wildly overrated.

  • @alexsell187 Lol, so you attack me with some ad hominem attack without me ever stating anything about Glocks in the first place, wow. I wont get into the Glock vs. whatever you like discussion, I like my G19, I like my Xd, I like my Sig.

The original comment still stand, this rifle comes NOWHERE close to milspec and the claim by the OP that it does shows total firearm ignorance.

  • @glockfire Clearly he knows about AR's because he's built several, so perhaps he is just wrong about this one spec.? I don't think that means he's a joke and doesn't know what he's talking about.

  • @alexsell187 Building an Ar takes 45 min and basic tools and skills. Come back with another point when you know of what you speak.

  • @glockfire DPMS IS CRAP

  • @HillbillyWhisperer why is dpms crap same as bushmaster dpms is not mill spec the guy is wrong but they make a good gun for 800 bucks dude...

  • @nhornar15 Maybe I shoudn't have said crap. There are better made rifles for 800 bucks. I wouldn't buy a Bushmaster either. If you like them that's cool. Have a good one.

  • @HillbillyWhisperer IS CRAP.

  • @SirJosephOxford Sorry to hurt your feelings . LMT is my choice. Ask the LAPD SWAT team why they chose LWRC. Laseraim .45? Sounds like you like cheap weapons. Get what you pay for. I bet your going to say Laseraim is the best .45ACP. Have a good one.

  • @HillbillyWhisperer Not the best... But for a $300 45, it gets the job done. No feelings hurt. You stated your opinion as did I. Have a good one.

  • @SirJosephOxford You too dude. Take care.

  • Subscribed.

  • One click and all you shit falls out too ;)

  • cutlerylover sent me... and i admit, you know your shit. new subscriber

  • LMT's piston rod comes out the same way yours came out, only all in less pieces.

  • Ok, mostly people they can't build their own AR so how much can you save? $100 or $200 plus that labor and time you can rest on your head instead go to work and spending your time at night to build it and most of the time you might run into the problem because the parts are not matching.. lol.. Think about it.. Also if you buy new you can get a warranty on it.. If your build ar broke you have to spend more money on it. Build an Ar is fun too but it's a pain in the ass..

  • Go to local gun shows and pick up parts for crazy cheap... for instance... why spend $80+ dollars on a trigger kit when you can get all the parts for literally a few dollars... and all the springs and dentents for literally pennies. There are also a cradre of local machinists that make and sell thier own parts mainly uppers and lowers that rival highend receivers for a fraction of the cost.
