@Ikonicre I agree. The people i know that plan on dedicating their lives to playing their horn would find this inspiring, but for those of us who understand that making a descent living only playing horn is very unlikley, it makes us (or at least me) feel like my playing is pointless. But Whatevs!
@dchsmarcher2012 lol i think it had something to do with this too, and did you see the simple gifts part of the show too? the straight line towards the end= SCVanguard 2009 ;)
to crgeeyar18- i like ur comment dont get me wrong, but i play sax trumpet and quads so i know wat u mean. i would like to add that in music like this woodwinds are nice to have but it all depends on the song. i have been playing jazz sax for almost 20 years and marching trumpet almost well since high school my freshman year. its nice to be in an all brass and drum corpe.
It's not like they aren't amazing, but being a blues aficionado myself, this is a little too jazzy to be called "Everybody Loves The Blues." Besides that, it's a little too happy to be blues in my opinion. Blues comes from within and is best when heard by a single person pouring their heart out. That being said Blast! is still an absolutely awesome group of people.
@lerxst93 well, its not that easy bwoy!! this video right here is more broadway style, but BLUES is the total opposite. just check some real Bluesplayers bwoy and what they say about it.
Who is the woman at 1:45? I saw blast twice in stl a few years back and i am mezmorized by her! She can also wail! Being a mellophone screamer myself, it was awesome...blast rocks!
My cousin has been with Blast! from its Star Of Indiana beginnings. He does the one handed cartwheels playing the coronet and is featured playing the Digeridoo. I believe he is one of the main people the trains the new 'recruits' because he has subbed for many of the dancers as well as being a musician. He is a talented man and I am very proud of him. Please, see this show in the theater setting and FEEL the impact of the drums. It is Inspiring!
The trumpet player is insane. Makes me want to bow. My improv jazz solo in our marching is vaguely based of some of his concepts. not played as wel of course, but based off of. He is insane i would die to meet him and get some lessons.
expectacular sonido en general muy bueno todos los metales y el trompeta impresionante estos videos son increibles nunca me cansare de verlos una y otra vez

In regards to the brass vs. woodwinds thing, musicians should just accept the fact that brass and woodwind are different. Niether is any better. You see more of both in different styles of music. In my own humble opinion, woodwinds don't have as pure of a sound on a marching field; however, they are an essential part of indoor playing. But it's still fun to have that rivalry in bands and stuff. Go brass!
Agreed...Woodwind will make good sound effects and beuatiful sounds but Brass still have the most power when it comes to marching. This is an opion from a tuba player..LOL!!!
@crgeetar18 the dispute over which is better woodwinds and brass is very similar to the one about between xbox 360 and ps3. not sure why i made the comparison baritones beats all.

Exactly, brass being brass doesn't have the range of tone textures that you can get with a full ensemble...
As for brass being better than woodwinds-The woodwind family easily pre-dates brass by a good 1000 years...some of the first instruments every found in archaelogical digs ARE bone flutes...not bone brass instruments...
Brass can get the full range if you have good brass players and as for history of who came first, who cares? Someone invented brass and now WE RULE!!!! Another thing, you don't see very many WOODWIND ENSEMBLES. But there are a lot of brass ensembles.

Try to find the original Flight of the Bumblebee, which was an orchestral (meaning strings) piece...then listen to a brass version, then James Galway's (a flautists) version of the piece...then get back to me.
There are actually TONS of woodwind ensembles, about as many, if not more, than brass bands.
are any of those ensembles famous? Like Canadian Brass or USAF Stellar Brass? And yes I've heard all 3 versions of Flight of the Bumblebee. In fact I own all three versions. My favorite is the brass version. I'm not sure I see what you are getting at but to be honest this is getting boring. How about we both agree that both groups are important in any full ensemble.
i think that we live in a world where we can accept that both woodwinds and brass are an integral part of a band and just learn to see all of us as just musicians instead of dividing an already small group of people
All of their tubas have such a gorgeous articulation and decay... Simply phenominal,
