  • Daaaaaammmmmmnnnnnn, awsome... MAX RESPECT

  • 2:27 "TODAY, DUDE"

  • who is this guy??

  • @bobpai2006 It's not about who they are, it's about what they do.

  • @bobpai2006 his name is Andy Smart.

  • FANTASTIC !

  • lol andy smart!

  • That guy is amazing at playin! Inspires me to train myself to be THAT AWESOME!! He is my idol!

  • Damn... I'm going to have to sell my trumpets. Performances like this are so demoralizing to the average trumpeter... :(

  • @Ikonicre Really!!?!? It makes me wanna practice more!

  • @mexijew

That too, but it's still depressing to know you'll never be THAT good, despite your most sincere efforts :-)

  • @Ikonicre oh dude... I'll be better :)

  • @Ikonicre Forget selling. After this, MELTING is the proper response !

  • @Ikonicre I agree. The people i know that plan on dedicating their lives to playing their horn would find this inspiring, but for those of us who understand that making a descent living only playing horn is very unlikley, it makes us (or at least me) feel like my playing is pointless. But Whatevs!

  • I can all of the instruments in this piece (aside from the Tuba), just not at this level

  • Go screaming trumpets!

  • I swear that looks like Trafalgar Law!

  • know I know where the BD got the chair visual from for 1930......

  • @dchsmarcher2012 lol i think it had something to do with this too, and did you see the simple gifts part of the show too? the straight line towards the end= SCVanguard 2009 ;)

  • @tucker422 Actually the part at the end of Simple Gifts was a take off of the Cavaliers. They did the step over the guard about 1978 or so.

  • Is that begining tuba soloist Aaron Vogel?!

  • Andy Smart is the Man! he is such a down to earth type of guy really chill Dude

  • do they have mics

  • funky

  • My one question for the trumpet player is: How many deals with the devil as he made? SO AWESOME!!!

  • MOAR TUBA!!!

  • the soloist is the brass head for Blue Knights right? I've played with him before.

  • @Pettyjizzonmytits yep! This guy could play like this when he was 18. amazing talent

  • Exelente no tengo mas palabras

  • @proby01772 you're one lucky fucker

  • holy shit seeing this made u one of my idols for musican u rock the hell out of this song

  • to crgeeyar18- i like ur comment dont get me wrong, but i play sax trumpet and quads so i know wat u mean. i would like to add that in music like this woodwinds are nice to have but it all depends on the song. i have been playing jazz sax for almost 20 years and marching trumpet almost well since high school my freshman year. its nice to be in an all brass and drum corpe.

  • It's not like they aren't amazing, but being a blues aficionado myself, this is a little too jazzy to be called "Everybody Loves The Blues." Besides that, it's a little too happy to be blues in my opinion. Blues comes from within and is best when heard by a single person pouring their heart out. That being said Blast! is still an absolutely awesome group of people.

  • @ChyronIsChillin I'd have to agree, I'm not a blues person myself but I do enjoy jazz and this is definitely jazz.

  • @Deathwish42: yes man, thats nuttin but Jazz. Blues ... m-m!

  • @SoFoxxyGyal jazz derived from the blue's just thought you should know lol

  • @lerxst93 well, its not that easy bwoy!! this video right here is more broadway style, but BLUES is the total opposite. just check some real Bluesplayers bwoy and what they say about it.

  • @SoFoxxyGyal lol i know rofl

  • @lerxst93 and jazz evolved from ragtime :P

  • Who is the woman at 1:45? I saw blast twice in stl a few years back and i am mezmorized by her! She can also wail! Being a mellophone screamer myself, it was awesome...blast rocks!

  • I play tuba!!!!!!

  • @chicaaaa1000 Andy Smart

  • i saw blast live and after hearing that last note i committed myself to be the best trumpet player i could possibly be

  • Who is the soloist?

  • @boombamboomhair27 Andy Smart

  • My cousin has been with Blast! from its Star Of Indiana beginnings. He does the one handed cartwheels playing the coronet and is featured playing the Digeridoo. I believe he is one of the main people the trains the new 'recruits' because he has subbed for many of the dancers as well as being a musician. He is a talented man and I am very proud of him. Please, see this show in the theater setting and FEEL the impact of the drums. It is Inspiring!

  • Holy shit that was beyond amazing !

  • what is that note at 2:30? i

  • The only better version I have ever heard was Maynard himself.

  • what's the name of trumpet soloist

  • wow i dont have any connections at all. only thing i can do is check the blast site and hope theres an open spot haha

  • This song is how I learned who Manyard Ferguson was :)

  • @proby01772 how old is he in this video?

  • @proby01772 I'd be so incredibly honored! Are you a musician?

  • @proby01772 seriously?! Wats his name?

  • @proby01772 Lucky

  • They make 1983 Blue Devils proud (and Smart didn't frack the last bit)

  • yeah dude, andy is AMAZING!!

  • Wow what a real treat! This video is amazing!

  • Blast FTW

  • cool!!!!

  • The trumpet player is insane. Makes me want to bow. My improv jazz solo in our marching is vaguely based of some of his concepts. not played as wel of course, but based off of. He is insane i would die to meet him and get some lessons.

  • i absolutely LOVE Blast

  • Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.... So cool...

  • go aaron and andy. they are the best teachers and performers. thanks for the lessons andy!!!!!!

  • Check outyoutube Future Corps rendition with Mark Zauss on lead soprano.

  • OMG AARON VOGEL!!!!

  • andy smart lolololololol

  • Blues Brothers

  • my god. that trumpet player is a freaking beast!!!

  • The Tuba player at 0:27 is my assistant band director

  • mine too.

  • 1:57 ..............that's all I have to say

  • Toca muito o trompetista! Ameii! tem alguem musico ai? Ele deu um DO7?

    Beeijos e fuuiê!

  • it sounds like he is playing though a mouth pice the size of a fly's nipple and yes i am a Tuba player !

  • i like how the band members get bored with the trumpet solo at the end. this guy is an amazing player. anyone know his name?

  • adam rappa

  • This guy is Andy Smart, from way back in the day.

  • Andy Smart

  • Damn, amazing trumpet soloist. Wish I could play that cleanly in the upper register. It must have felt great to be him at 2:57

  • expectacular sonido en general muy bueno todos los metales y el trompeta impresionante estos videos son increibles nunca me cansare de verlos una y otra vez

  • its all about the brass and percussion

  • Awesome video! Holy SHIT that guy can play the hell out of his trumpet...

In regards to the brass vs. woodwinds thing, musicians should just accept the fact that brass and woodwind are different. Niether is any better. You see more of both in different styles of music. In my own humble opinion, woodwinds don't have as pure of a sound on a marching field; however, they are an essential part of indoor playing. But it's still fun to have that rivalry in bands and stuff. Go brass!

  • Agreed...Woodwind will make good sound effects and beuatiful sounds but Brass still have the most power when it comes to marching. This is an opion from a tuba player..LOL!!!

  • @crgeetar18 that guy's the caption head for the Blue Knights drum and bugle corps. Andy Smart.

  • @96Prayloode he writes music for my high school's marching band. He is a BEAST at the Trumpet.

  • @crgeetar18 the dispute over which is better woodwinds and brass is very similar to the one about between xbox 360 and ps3. not sure why i made the comparison baritones beats all.

  • @crgeetar18 haha Woodwinds all day but there is really nothin like a field full of good brass players haha

  • @crgeetar18 dude i play both i play sax trumpet and drums so i know that fight go band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @hotdjboi what the hell is a sax trumpet?

  • @proby01772 all i know is i want one.

  • super show

  • Err theres a song called _______ spring that is played by them. I forgot the title. Anyone who knows it can you pls kindly tell me =D

  • Appalachian Springs: it's an arrangement of a movement of a Coppland ballet piece

  • well that's pretty freakin cool :D

  • the trumpet guy taught my band once! haha. it was pretty cool.

  • Im pretty sure the STAR OF INDIANA, an old drum corps, is now Blast! i think blast is now a different name, but yeah

  • Technically it was started by that drum corps but now its audition

  • Andy rocked the trumpet, that's all I can say.

  • <3~~~~~~

  • It may not be exactly jazz....But it was awesome.....I love the bass and the trumpet...LOL!!!! I wished i was the tuba player....

  • man, he's got a powerful G

  • that dude is amazing.

  • that guy rapes on trumpet, doubt you can play that good.

  • are you?

  • yes, with men and women...you're a fucking idiot

  • I don't know, they sure look a little light in there heals.

  • Jazz Horn = Love.

  • It's damn close enough.

  • Yet Jazz is heavily rooted in Blues, and comes from the same African-American culture.

And Jazz Horn is very rare, so again, damn close enough.

  • really good tuba player and trumpet player

  • i'm trying to convince my director to play this

  • Notice...hardly a pressure ring on the lead trumpet player. Now THAT'S some chops!

  • Andy Smart the caption head for Blue Knights he pulled a double high g after not playing for two months yeah he has insane chops

  • Where abouts does this production tour? And where can i find details? I WANNA GO! ahaa

  • 2:52

  • yes its a g.

  • dat one last really really high note is sick

  • that lead trumpet is so good...i wish i could play mine like him.

  • my friends tell me that i remind them of the main trumpet guy...

    always showing off.

  • lol black percussionist guy at 2:44 looks like morpheus.

  • easily my favorite blast piece. and it's a good thing they had that cute french horn chick to make up for the major sausage fest on stage.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHA dude thts hilarious.

  • dude thats hilarious

  • Yeah, a Sax feature would've been awesome. But BLAST doesn't feature wood-winds 3:

  • One version of Blast! does :)

  • Woodwinds just over the same.. wow factor? i mean they're pleasant but its a different world

  • is there really? Do you know if there's videos of it here on youtube? I play sax myslef and I would LOVE to see it

  • blast comes from dci

  • According to all the comments above, it seems to me people are saying blast needs woodwinds. THEY DO NOT!!! being a brass player myself a applaud there being no woodwinds ALL HAIL BRASS!!!!!!!!!

  • well said

  • I find all-brass bands a tad too male-sound dominated...Odd phrase, I know, but there's really not much else that you can use to the domineering attitude and feeling brass carries...You either need a touch of feminine sound or more higher voiced brass instruments to round out the sound...

  • wtf? brass is brass and will always be better than woodwinds

  • Brass can get the full range if you have good brass players and as for history of who came first, who cares? Someone invented brass and now WE RULE!!!! Another thing, you don't see very many WOODWIND ENSEMBLES. But there are a lot of brass ensembles.

  • are any of those ensembles famous? Like Canadian Brass or USAF Stellar Brass? And yes I've heard all 3 versions of Flight of the Bumblebee. In fact I own all three versions. My favorite is the brass version. I'm not sure I see what you are getting at but to be honest this is getting boring. How about we both agree that both groups are important in any full ensemble.

  • i think that we live in a world where we can accept that both woodwinds and brass are an integral part of a band and just learn to see all of us as just musicians instead of dividing an already small group of people

  • Listen to Maurice Andre, if you think all brass instruments are too masculine sounding.

  • @Ibanez3789 Did I say they sounded 'too masculine'? No. They have a 'masculine' tone quality.

  • Not when that master of masters plays it.

  • Dude...Low brass is the shiz!

  • but. i must say amazing that they can do a jazz piece that well.

trumpets, trombones, french horns, euphoniums, tubas, and the percussion section

were just incredibly in sync and so musically perfect!

  • ramcorps does a good cover this.

look up ramcorps (everbody loves the blues)

secondly, why did they use french horns instead of mellophones?

  • This is the old version. One of the first( if not the first) recordings of Blast! If you see it live now. The have mellos and such.
