  • Rumhale, thanks for giving us some back ground info on K.L.Saigal's career, he was much loved by my late father who listend to him on his ''His Master Voice'' grammaphone.

K.L.Saigal had that unique sad voice to perfectly translate the feelings of the these types of songs.

  • @hira1ft

Thanks. I too used to listen daily one song by Saigal on SLBC (Radio Ceylon) daily.

  • A great singer.........I wish he had not left the world in such a hurry.

  • @TheAnitaGosain

    I share your opinion. Thanks.

  • Hello. This is a 1945 release. Only film of Saigal where he sang for Naushad. Songs were written by Khumar Barabankvi and Majrooh was introduced by Kardar in this film. This, I think is Majroohs song. Saigal was used to sing while intoxicated. Naushad did a test of recording, once when he was drunk and once when he was sober. Sober version won and Saigal said to Naushad " I wish I had met you when I first came to Bombay".

    Nasreen was Salma Agha's mother.

  • @RealMusicKing

Thanks for interesting information. I am also impressed of the anecdote to Naushad conducting test on Saigal and reaction from Saigal.

  • @RealMusicKing 1946. Naushad forbid Saigal from drinking for the songs in this film, and they are all masterpieces, especially this one that Saigal is most famous for, Jab Dil Hi Toot Gayaa. This song itself is by Majrooh Sultanpuri (along with six others), but "Ae Dil-e-Beqaraar Jhoom", "Chaah Barbaad Karegi", and the soundtrack exclusive song "Barbaad Na Kar De Kahin" (I have it posted on my channel) were by Khumar Barabankvi.

  • A jewel is uploaded

can anyone tell me about a song of KLS in which he sings songs with children sitting around and looking towards sky or something like, i watched it in 1951 when i was 12 or 13 years old . i cant recall the song :(

  • @SaudLodi

It is confusing without name of the movie. More confusing is details about you - from your own account you must be 70+, but your profile speaks differently!

  • @rumahale

    Hehe,

Usually my account is always logged in, im pretty sure papa post this message from my account as he is the only crazy for old songs in our home

  • @SaudLodi

    Interesting. Thanks.

  • @SaudLodi Hello. It might be Saigal / Suraiyya from film "Parwana" 1948. Song might have been "Jeena Ka Dhang Sikhaye Ja, Kanton Ki Sejh Par Khada Muskuraye Ja". Music by Khursheed Anwar who around 1952 or so, moved to Pakistan.

  • @RealMusicKing Jeene Ka Dhang was a somewhat sad song, and to my recollection from when I saw the film about two years ago, there weren't any scenes in Parwana (1947, released a few months after his death in January of that year) featuring him singing to or near children. All the songs from Parwana are already posted here on YouTube.

  • @sbhatt88 I have a film Parwana cassette tape which I bought somewhere in early 1980's which included Jeene Ka Dhang. I have never seen the film. The only Saigal film I have seen is Shah Jahan.

  • @SaudLodi It is most likely the song from President (1937), Ek Raaje Ka Beta. He sings this in front of a little child, and when other people are watching him sing to him, they go into another room and then another room and complete the song.

  • Ramchandra, You are like a genuine pearl fisher, diving deeper in the sea, caught so precious pearl. Jug jug jiyo!

  • I am trying to appreciate those gems of sweet music. Thanks for the interest evinced.

  • thats really true..nice song

  • Thanks.
