  • Your cover is the most accurate I've seen. There's other covers that might seem more "exciting" to young drummers, or old ones who don't appreciate the clinical accuracy you've shown us here, but I'm not among them. What *would* be cool is if you could one day add the percussion parts & show them PIP. That's asking a lot though; it would be hard on the software side alone!

Thanks for showing us how it's done. Loved your All Along The Watchtower. You make drumming look easy. Thx 4 ur vidz.

  • @kevjay777 Thank you for your kind comment. Glad you appreciated the work that went into getting those drum parts right. If I wasn't on a path to cover 200+ more songs I might stop and do tutorials, but I gotta keep moving, God willing. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my videos.

  • sounds sick dude. I used this video to teach myself this song. Thanks man

  • @nooza wow, awesome, I'm glad to hear that my videos serve other drummers. Thanks for checking it out.

  • Great cover Sal! May I request you do Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana? I know it's mot the music you play but it would be cool to here you do it! Great cover though! I might do this sometime. Thanks for posting

  • @MikeJamz00 haha, he has already done it and I know because its in the featured videos...

  • dang sound good u should have more views

  • @AbruptPuppet3 Thanks, appreciate you being one of the few to check it out. I must say, if I was a young good-looking chic on an acoustic kit, there would be 100s of thousands of views of this..

  • Man that was awesome.!! That electric kit sounds soo good. Is it Roland?

  • @MpactdrummerEvan Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Yes, it's V-Drums triggering Addictive Drums software.

  • not only was this a great cover, it also helped me see the separation of the percussion parts!

  • @jp60476 Now that's very cool, very pleased to this video served you.

  • Nice Job!

  • @WeakEndProductions Thanks a lot.

  • Awesome, Awesome, Awesome job!

  • @bsullivan7 Thanks

  • I was blown away! Your performance was brilliant! I like how you added that Frankenstein clip in there as well.

  • @THEINDUSTRIALProject Hey thanks, that's nice. I thought it would be more entertaining for folks to watch that clip than me waiting around to drum.. and actually I believe that section of the song is about the monster rising up, so it's apropos.

  • Good work! Sounds good.

  • @matthewh2284 Thank you.

  • You're a boss, dude.

  • @MargaretLove28 Thanks for watching.

  • Great Job

  • @bigmanedwin1 Thanks.

  • You make it look so fuckin easy

  • @KL0NDIKEBAR12 Really?! Interesting, as I thought I was working real hard at it. I gotta tell you, this one had a big learning curve. Thanks for watching.

  • awesome job.

  • @KenzieBoo43 Thanks.

  • Are you using an electronic drum-kit by chance? If not the whole kit, are the cymbals electronic?

Also, you and (youtube.com/)EEGX6bm5-yw should coordinate and play drums to this song with you doing normal drums and him on the timbales during the duet. I don't know, I think that would be awesome.

You're a great drummer! Keep uploading videos!

  • @Jgallstar1 An edrum kit triggering software samples of acoustic drums recorded in actual recording studios. The link you provided is a "We're sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." Thanks so much for watching and your encouragement.

  • Out of curiousity is it possible to set up both and play both parts as one person or is it completely impossible

  • @b4mvdrumlegend Yes it is possible for most of the parts, particularly if you have timbales set up along with the drum kit. You've just given me an idea, I could set up the Roland Octapad with the timbale sounds and have that besides the V-Drums. Thanks.

  • The audio is excellent. How did you record this to get such and excellent audio sound? What kind of drums are you playing? I just purchased a Yamah DTX 520 and love it. But I'm still learning how to dial it in. I would love to record something that has the sound quality you are producing. I love watching you play, thanks for your help and viewing enjoyment :)

    Mike

  • @golfrrrr Thanks a lot for watching, I appreciate your encouragement and for subscribing. The answer to your questions can be found on my channel page under the "About Me:" section. Thanks.

  • when you are doing the 6/8 type beat on the ride, you forgot the double paradiddle on beat one

  • @labmonkey398 And you think I was born yesterday.

  • @rhythmantic just constructive criticism

  • this guy can play the drums the bomb bad ass

  • @cherokee3864 Thanks a lot man, appreciate you stopping by and checking it out.

  • fantastic!!

  • @flipside1545 Thanks

  • Very nice Job....thnx, :)

  • @mikelovesdeb Thanks.

  • your missing the crazy rolls dude!?

  • @aliaham As far as the drum set is concerned, nothing is missing. Read the description to learn what's going on between drums & timbales.

  • If only I could get that close to this as you do. GREAT JOB DUDE!!

  • @MrSubhuman60 Thanks. Please do use this video to do that.

  • If only I could get that close to thi as you do. GREAT JOB DUDE!!

  • people need to stop arguing and enjoy the fucking music. I could go either way but it doesn't fucking matter.

  • Great performance! You missed the 3 pickup notes at the beginning. :) I'm teasing. I liked this.

  • @ShutlOrbit Thanks, I appreciate that. Since this video I've learned how to put a click in front of the track to count me in to songs that start with a drum fill pick up. I appreciate your humor :-D

  • My Name Is Earl Sent Me! Pretty Good But You Need To Get A Real Drum Set Dude!

  • @SmallvilleFann1983 And why would I need to do that? I own a Gretsch and a Pearl acoustic drum kit and have access to two other Yamaha kits and get to play them on a regular basis. I've been playing acoustic drums for about 47 years, and edrums for only about 2 years. There are tremendous advantages that the edrums have over acoustic, and I just dig playing them as I can trigger so many different drum kits.

  • @rhythmantic @rhythmantic @rhythmantic @rhythmantic I have a Gretsch Kit as well right on, its connected to my Curved Rap Around Gibraltar Drum Rack ! I know about Triggers I have 3 set up on my acoustic for extra sounds with an Alesis DM5 Drum Module!

  • @SmallvilleFann1983 Now that sounds like a way to go, to have the feel of acoustic drums while triggering drum samples. I've done that before using the Roland triggers and would like to do it more. It's the best of both worlds. Upload a video of you playing this set up, it be good to check out, I think a lot of folks like my self would be interested.

  • @rhythmantic I would but my camcorder isnt the greatest with sound plus I need to get a few crash cymbals on my kit Im using my Triggers as cymbals right now and there not as good as the ECymbals like your using. My Triggers are more for toms & snares not Cybals but thats all I got for the time being. I use Pintech Triggers incase you were wondering!

  • @rhythmantic The only reason I was looking into buying a few more Trigger pads is to build a complete Eset so I could play at night, I could just take my acoustic set off my rack & use that for my Eset instead of buying another rack. I live in a town house so its not very easy to play on my acoustic! Plus I have a 300 Dollar Keyboard Amp for my Triggers (Its about as big as half of a Guitar half stack Amp)!

  • @SmallvilleFann1983

    Earls' an asshole.

That is a real drum set, and I would bet money this guy has a few 'real' wooden ones too, the kind with the plastic heads that make a lot of noise.

  • @generatrix999 Sounds More Like The Asshole Is YOU!

  • this guy defines pro

  • This wasn't no cover. You sir, ARE the original studio drummer on this one. Stop foolin! Gi-normus kudos.

  • @kevc21 Thanks for the accolades and for checking it out. Just yesterday I got to see a video of the this band playing an extended jam version of this tune, and they were all great players. The drummer, Chuck Ruff, played very well.

  • 0 Dislikes, and you deserve it!

  • @xBranMan Thanks for watching, and I appreciate you comment. Speaking of Dislikes, I've seen musical videos that were just excellent & masterfully played and yet received many Dislikes illustrating that people "dislike" for any number of wrong reasons of which I have a number of theories. Thanks again.

  • I like your ghosting on the snare.great job.

  • I totally get the call and response concept of this recording....you're sooooo good at it.

  • @twncintiohio Thanks, I did work very hard and spent much time to really learn this composition, I wanted to do it right. Of all the covers I've done, this one I logged the most time learning..

  • i miss my rolands!!! so easy to tune!!! so quite to play!!!!

  • Nice playing and song choice.

  • @SonorSonicFan thanks for checking this out. As a drummer I just had to cover this tune, and it took me the longest of all I've covered to learn it correctly. It's the only "correct" rendition on YT. Thanks so much.

  • Haha! Really great cover! Best I've seen! I love the fact you actually know it is a, 'conversation,' between the timbales or tom-toms or whatever it is, and the drum set. Well done, I actually thought you weren't playing but pretending to play, its that good!

    Well played, my friend! :)

  • @Thedobeymaster Thanks for that comment. Yea, it's all an illusion :D Thank you for watching.

  • you're totally missing a lot of fills...

  • @PeartFan40 And you totally misunderstand what this song is about: It's a percussion ensemble duet between timbales and drum set. The fills that you think are missing are the timbale parts, not drum set parts. I'm only playing the drum set part, not the timbale part. It's a dialogue between the timbales and the drum set, it is not a drum set solo. It's a "call & response" between timbales & drum set. That's the beauty of this song. Read descriptions of videos before you comment.

  • How do you get the great backing tracks for all your covers? Love all that you have done!

  • @jokerjed69 The backing tracks are the original releases of the songs. I'm playing over the drumming, which is really challenging at times. Thank you so much for your encouragement and for watching the videos.

  • @rhythmantic i tried going over the drumming its very hard.

  • @JoeToTheMaxxxx Yes, it is a very complex percussion ensemble type of composition. There is only one correct drum cover of this song on YT and it's the one that I did.

  • yeahhhhhh! ♥

  • I just stumbled upon your videos while looking for a santana song, you are a great inspiration to me as a drummer! what kind of set is that? it sounds great!

  • @TheNiNHunter Thanks so much for your comment. It's a Roland VDrum TDW-20 (Expansion Card upgrade of TD-20) module w/TD-12 pads. I'm triggering sounds outside of the Roland brain, in this video I triggered Addictive Drums, that's why it sounds so good because though I may be playing an electronic kit, the sounds are of acoustic drums.

  • Superb cover Sal. One of the very best I have seen on you tube of any cover. It's a thinking man's song for sure to drum it correctly as you did ( could see the anticipation in you eyes). Alot of listening and practicing and it certainly paid off big time. A very dynamic song to say the least. I Iiked the drum trade offs, fills and the edit of the Frankenstein flick. I was watching a DVD tonight of Edgar W with the Ringo 2008 All Star Band playing this song. This one is going in my playlist.

  • @readyeddy101 This song so far took the most rehearsal, I really wanted to do it right, not like the other covers I've seen where it's treated as a drum solo vs percussion duet, and I also wanted to play the ensemble hits correctly. Ringo's band uses this song as a vehicle for jamming, it was great live. I try to incorporate cutaway clips whenever I'm not playing- much more interesting than watching me sit there doing nothing. Thanks Nick, look forward to your cover of it.

  • your a great drummer

  • @1000krutch Aw, shucks, thanks. much,

  • good pick buddy, I really like the solo switch offs, got to see a little of your fast playing. Keep up the great covers!

  • @JonnyZywiciel Right on Guitar Jonny Z!

  • Great job. A truly classic tune. The trades you did in the middle were very cool and Boris's cameo was awesome. Keep the video rolling!

  • @RhythmRoom1960 Yea, thanks.

  • Sal, great job as always. Very tough song and you tore it a new one.

  • @robjking1 Thanks Rob. this was a difficult song and I practiced it more than any song I've ever covered. I wanted to do it right, as a percussion duet, and not plow through it like I've seen others here on YT do.

  • i would pay to see you drum haha

    amazing

  • @mcredman92 Aw shucks! Thanks much, I appreciate the accolades.

  • Always the best from you, great job man, great song, amazing cover!

  • @bon2bonn Thanks a lot. This song was tough for me, I had to practice it a lot, but it was worth it 'cause I've always wanted to cover it.

  • ive always loved this song, its good, and nice playing. keep on drumming!

  • @Bluemoon4655 Thanks, it's good to meet a fellow VDrummer. I was thinking of covering that Owner of A Lonely Heart song. You got a solid groove. You too, keep playing & posting.

  • Digging the drum solo-timbale duet! Keep it up man!

  • @AngryNinja9000 Yay AngryNinja...thanks dude!
