This song is like a lullaby after a bad trip, (or if you're mentally compromised in some other way). It's good to know that somebody knows how you feel.. like you're not alone.
@kylebossify I know this too well, people think a bad trip is nothing. Well you should never judge before you get to know the experience of something. I felt so alone like everyone was against me. This song and Echoes live at Pompeii help nurse my mind back together.
OK guitarists out there... I need help ... as he goes into the chorus.. what is the chord @2:39 (before the G maj) ? its been peavin me right off ... I've the rest of this awesome version down ... the video just shows a muddle of fingers ... not an Am I've been plaing a A maj ( x02220) but its not right ... HELP !
it is all about expresion music iis language hard to believe then and now it is thier mind set and faith and hope and belief in what they were saying and also the reality they lived in we haven't lost talent just in different world I may be wrong but It just ame to after decades of believing it can't be explained
how cool is it to sing and play with him for all you guitar pllayers who can play and sing like me . it is sad knowing the world after world war II produced this music we will most likely never see again nobody gives a crap and that is my ansewr as to why music sucks now back then middle class did and expressed it with music not about drugs look at rock after 1990 mostly depressed unlike the big 80's its over we had 50 yrs and 8 with clinton and except for mircle middle class is dead
So is this the only song he actually sings on Dark Side Of The Moon? I think the rest is sung by Gilmour except for a few parts like the "tired of lying in the sunshine" part of Time which is sung by Wright.
The lunatic is on the grass The lunatic is on the grass Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs Got to keep the loonies on the path The lunatic is in the hall The lunatics are in my hall The paper holds their folded faces to the floor And every day the paper boy brings more And if the dam breaks open many years too soon And if there is no room upon the hill And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too I'll see you on the dark side of the moon The lunatic is in my head...-*
Man... after listening to Gilmour for a few days whilst commenting on a few vids... it is SO REFRESHING to hear the true genius of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, perform his songs. Roger's voice is filled with emotion and character. Dave? Marshmallowy. No emotion. Vanilla. Bland.
I really prefer the Floyd when they had waters and gilmour at the helm. They were truly special. Waters wrote most of the lyrics from meddle through wish you were here. He is a true genius.
@jameshawkins55 in theory, that would be great.......in reality at their ages.....I'd be willing to guess it wouldn't stack up well against old Floyd.
However, anything new by Rog and Dave would be better than nothing at all.
@LesPaulFreak10 the DVD is called "Dark Side of the Moon: Classic Albums" or something like that according to the uploader. They have been releasing lots of albums in a "Classic Albums" series lately, this one is surely already available for sale. Other albums that have been released in the same series are for example Black Sabbaths "Paranoid" and Deep Purple's "Machine Head". I don't own any of these though... shame on me ^^ but I will buy one if I stumble upon it I guess.
by the way do you know Roger Waters has a concert in London O2 arena four nights in a row and Mason and Gilmour were in one of them and i heard the DVD is on sale
...am tired of gilmour's bitching about roger...does he really think dark side, wish u were here, and the wall would have enjoyed nearly as much success as they did w/ dave at helm and not roger? dave's just a bitter old man because deep-down he knows who was really "pink"...two albums w/ dave at helm w/o roger were horrible, and dave know's it...that's why he just takes the easy way out and attacks waters rather than admit to himself that he wasn't even in roger's league...
Saw the show in Atlanta - best show I have ever seen - and ive seen Floyd and Roger about 15 times combined..... I even turned down my brothers offer of front row Rush tickets a few months later - just didnt think there was anywhere to go from that show!!
recently one of my friends got diagnosed with psychosis on his 17th birthday. he had a beautiful mind which he would express without compromise, unfortunately this is what sent him over the edge. he is making good steady progress atm and hope to see my good friend soon.
you cant burn out without being on fire... and you my friend where fucking scorching.
waters, gilmour, bowie, lennon, U2 etc etc should be cherished because there is no more of these guys coming through; the energy is now with DJ's who are mixing dance/house/techo/trance etc. and they are achieving great things; but compared to waters and company it has no where near the talent and patience; but time moves on it's nobody's fault. as i said cherish them while they are still alive. ben
i bet roger still couldve done the part where he switched octaves. I saw him live nov 18th in 2010 in phillips arena GA and he's still got really all his range. Fucking amazing. Love roger! :D
@PornoBruzz the tabs is xx0232 D xx0001 G7 xxx545 E and x02223 A7 the other session is G maj ,A maj , C maj . G maj, a Maj , c maj , and G maj , Bm ,Em and 577655 A
Brain Damage used to be my uncles favorite song before he died, along with Time,Animals and a couple from Zepplin and Bad Company, but i've always been a fan of the classics and every time i hear this one it reminds me of my uncle who passed away from an industrial accident at Jeff Boat ship yard/barges... R.I.P Uncle Robert
When you listen Brain Damage from album you think: oh god, it's awesome! However then you listen an acoustic version and you realize that is not just awesome but absolutely beautiful piece of music art that puts life into your soul.
one of the greatest songs ever, esp. the lyrics!
wish we'd get more of the kind these days, but I'm afraid that particular period of age is over and long forgotten.....
