@vivoslibertos hm.... I need to show some female character modeling in that case, right? I wish I had some free time in my hand to make more tutorials... I hope to do that someday...
Hi I'm a student currently studying Animation at university, I have a few short animations that I have created and would extremely appreciate if anyone would take a minute view them :)
Please subscribe as I will be adding more animations as they are done.
Give some constructive comments and let me know what you think.
@sampad01 Ahhh.. Okay, I just saw that it is with the name of character modelling, rather than body modelling.. Sorry for that; a silly overlook on my part. And.. looking forward to your tutorial on walk cycle, I am sure it will be really helpful. Thanks a lot bro...
@isyutd159 Check out my new tutorials.. All in real time... just go to my channel. its a 20 part tutorial starting from part 0 to part 19. Every single part is focused in detail.
I hope he still checks messages, very nice tutorial. About a slow tutorial/walk through for the noobs like my self. When I extrude the legs, they extrude straight out, not like in your video, how are you doing it? Thanks, and thank you for taking the time making this tutorial is awesome.
@jerodvel extruding is supposed to do that. It always comes straight out. I dhon't know where I did that in these vids. But the thing is u extrude from the bottom of the torso, select the new verts and take them to the knee's place, then extrude the new polygon again and move it to the ankle area and so on. I hope that made some sense. I really wish I had time to make another tutorial. Truth is I did make another tutorial in slow mo. But I can't upload it to youtube, it gives me error messages.
I found amazing your tutorial its reaaally cool, man.
I am a maya 2009 noobie and I would like to ask you for some help.
Every time that I create a polygonal primitive ex. Sphere, I can't see the INPUTS (construction history) in the channel box. I think that maybe, by mistake, I deleted the history. The question is. How can i restore my INPUTS ? and see them back again.
I know this is a dumb question, but remember I am a Noobie.
you just make sure the pivot point of the model is at the very middle of the box/cube you are beginning with and then delete half of it by going to polygons components. and then duplicate the rest half using "instance" from duplicate options. Then scale the new duplicate in x axis by ading a - sign before any value it has in the scale x axis. In my case I just scaled it using -1 value. voila! thats mirror!
I actually did not skin r rig this one but I have done others with same topology. The answer is yes. They do. But I now prefer the other topology which deforms even better than this one. By that I mean extrude the shoulders/arms directly from the torso.. no need to extrude a deltroid first and then extrude the arm from under it.. like I did here. And same goes for the hips. Just extrude them straight down from the torso.
Thats really good, could you make a tutorial on how to do this so with subs or you explaining what tools to use and how and so on. The model doesn't need to be perfect i just want a rough idea on what to do on where.
I always have trouble with the proportions of my characters, mostly because of bad reference images... Where did you find your reference model? I've never seen someone use a 3d skeleton as the reference for a character.
This is amzing. You're really helping out by showing not only the process of modeling with clean topology but also modeling for animation. Thanks much!
wow! absolutely amazing job there! even though it was a bit fast paced (as i'm sure this is a demonstration video moreso than an actual tutorial), i've learned a lot - the way that you address the muscles, the shoulder area, pelvis, etc. the way you modeled this seems so different than a lot of other modelers - you seem to take a nice, clean, uncomplicated approach throughout the entire process, and still end up with something phenomenal! i'm gonna study this vid for awhile now!! thanks!! =D
I have to wait till 3rd year before I get to officially learn any of this. You've just saved me a full year of waiting!

I'm using maya 2009. where did you get the skeleton to base your model off of? is it an option in maya?

no, buddy.. I made it.. you can see the making in the first part.
