This song & Road to Hell was in the movie Beyond the Law with Charlie Sheen & Michael Madsen. This was by far Charlie's best movie. An absolute must see!!!!!
being born in 82 i was brought up with this mans music and all i can say is legend one true legend, lets get chris to christmas number 1 and show mr cowell what proper music sounds like.
"Fool if You Think It's Over" , "On the Beach" and "Steel River" were also big hits and got a lot of airplay back in the late 70's and 80's. Just about every song this guy has written is magical due to his unique blend of powerful vocals and amazing riff slide guitar work. Whoever mentioned one hit wonder doesn't know whats going on in the music world and should do a little research.
Working in Retail is just like this ... Manager on my case all the time long live the little people stand up and say I am working it boss. Give me a break lol
God damn I adore this song; it was used in a television advert for the Ford "Probe" sports car, which actually was a flop(the car, not the song);) Fantastic song; great groove. Ironically a great driving song:) But not in a Ford Probe apparently xD
@themoshmenace I never drove a Probe, sadly, but for my money the Original Probe was the best looking car in what, the last 35 years. The only car that comes close is the Scion tc, IMO

New Light Through Old Windows is a 1988 album by Chris Rea. The album consists primarily of re-recordings of songs released on earlier Rea albums, as well as two new songs, "Working on It" (which gave him a RARE U.S. chart single, peaking at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100, and giving him his ONLY #1 single
I've got only eight little fingers and only two thumbs, will you leave me in peace while i get the job done......Great lyric and don't I know how that feels
I got the album as a Christmas present in about 1989, I think, on cassette. I'd always liked Chris Rea's "softer" stuff, but this just blew my socks off! Loved it then and love it now, I've got goosebumps listening to him make that guitar howl.
Season 5 is better than 4. It has more Shootouts, more chases, and no more rudiculous eps like The big thaw, Cows of october or Missing Hours. S5 style is similar to s3 but eps overall are even darker.
I used to love hearing this song on the radio when I was a kid. It seemed like WQUT (East Tennessee) would play it all the time. I think they played the extended mix too. Classic rock stations should bring some of Chris's songs back in rotation.
A quality bit of classic rock! Chris Rea is a rocking talent who has done some dynamite tunes. Let's face it, anyone else doing this song just wouldn't work!
It took me 21 years to find this , You Tube and whoever posted this kicks monster mega -ass. I used to listen to this song on the way to work in 89 on WLLZ in Detroit. I aint bullshittin . We actually used to work in Michigan back in the day . I am glad i just had marital relations with my wife cause if i didnt i would be waking her ass up after hearing this jam !!
@mcq6942 I KNOW! They used to play this on the radio all the time. I don`t know what the fuck happened. Its like they banned Chris Rea`s music period. When he is one of the BEST ever!
i love the lyrics too this song "i got 8 little fingers and only 2 thumbs will you leave me in peace while i get the job done" and they "coming from above me and they coming from below"
@sheradio1055 HUH!?!?! Chris Rea in the 70's, 80's, 90's all the way to the By God present has been, is, and always will be the absolute SHIT!!!!! So snap out of it and listen to more of THE MAN! God Save and Long Live CHRIS REA! I mean REALLY!!
Captainmidnight1967.........Same here . Modern and profitable mill bought by Finnish company for the sole purpose of eliminating it. Hundreds of millions of Govt.money poured into a mill and then it was broken up and sold as scrap! 600 jobs gone! Nobody has a job and the dumb-cunt politicians wonder why the economy is in the toilet. Fuck em' and the horse they rode into town on!....More Chris Rea!!!
Chris's Album "Still so far to go....Best of Chris Rea" is now on sale -can recommend it -all tracks remastered -Fantastic! AND GUESS WHAT ! this song is on it!
I wonder if anyone today in the US wishes they had a job that got the best of them? Local foundry here closing, 400+ people gone 3 mos before Christmas. Yeah, I'm working on it, but for how long?
great song, i heard a cover by a Manchesterband it was a bit rocked up and brilliant..dont suppose anybody knows who i mean or has anything to upload?
I really identify with this song! I worked in a warehouse for 7 years & those damn supervisors are always wigging out about the job getting done. How funny is that when half of them don't ever get up off their asses & do some work too?
was watching a matco pieere white posting and this song was on it, never heard it before, but could tell it was chris, brilliant song, that most people can relate too in some way
Chris Rea one of my all time favorites Rememberin the days that we were drivin to Austria for another skitrip in our Saab 99 turbo and Chris Rea at volume 10. I quess it was between 84 and 89. Rockin with mi dad and Mom. Gotta love it.
Chris im your biggest fan! So glad you survived the cancer.
thanx for the video, I've looking for this song for years. I swear it's in the movie Cobra when they show the gang for the first time meeting and banging the hammers. anyone remember
