  • who are the 2 other guys with JB?

  • Jeff Becks tone is to die for...Clapton is very fuzzy here..

  • Geeez!!! Is that Nathan East on bass???

  • @caioton Yes

  • @g1asseye ...tnx man... what a crowd!

  • 凄い。凄いとしかいいようがない。

    クラプトンもなんとか勢いで頑張ったがジェフの神トーンの前ではなす術も無かったな。

  • who is that 3rd lefty guitarist? he is awesome.

  • @lu102804 He's called Doyle Bramhall. He plays in a lot of songs with Clapton on the crossroads festival.

  • @lu102804

he was also the roger waters guitarist IN THE FLASH LIVE 2001 tour

  • Beck & Clapton = Heavenly rock . . .at it's greatest!

  • Now That's music!

  • SENSACIONAL!!!!!

  • 2 pricks

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • first of all. you guys should all just shut up and enjoy the music.

    second of all. 2:52: BOOM!!

  • Used to love Jeff Beck but his "call to Allah" whammy bar playing style is so overwhelmingly boring I want to shoot myself. It's cool for one song, but it's too much of one gimmick; he's lost his touch. What can I say? Islam ruins everything it touches...

  • @beeroosterm what do you mean call to allah??

  • @jackwontknow1 Did you listen to the sound track of this video?

  • @beeroosterm yeah, but I think its part of his playing, many artists take eastern influences into their playing. I think he may have overdone it in this video, but he is still one of the most innovative guitarists going.

  • @jackwontknow1 He's been whammy-barring/thumbpicking for many years now, but once again I find this technique to be boring and gimmicky. The incessant use of the WB i think takes away from his greatness and am disappointed it has become an integral part of his sound, which now is loud and brash - far less subtle than his former technique. Que sera, sera...

  • @beeroosterm Hmmm, see, i've always found his unique approach to be really engaging and not gimmicky at all. Jeff may not be the most technically gifted guitar player in the world (though he is quite technically gifted) but damn it if he's not a monster of an artist. His style allows people who listen for that sort of aestheticism to savor every single note, similar to how one might listen to a classical music piece.

  • @rocknrollguru23 He is indeed gifted, but his "new" style just turns me off. I'm uncertain as to when he made the transition, but much of his old style is gone, and I lament its loss. The constant warbling and wailing seems to me less an artistic expression than an over-reliance on an effect that is best used sparingly. That he has turned it into the biggest part of his technique does not excuse its banality no matter his guitar-God status.

  • @beeroosterm I guess it depends on what "era" of his music you like. I actually never really cared for his Yardbirds stuff, and I think his music that he made with Rod Stewart is overrated by some Beck fans. My favorite incarnation of Jeff's music is Rough and Ready by far, but I also liked the first two jazz-fusion albums.

I will concede this though, his tone in this video is awful. It really helps when he has a slightly more muscular tone.

  • @rocknrollguru23 Maybe it's outdoor?

  • @MayChild8 I think it is, this looks like it was from Clapton's Crossroads festival. It's not like it's the worst guitar tone i've ever heard, but listen to it compared to Live at Ronnie Scott's, or a few others.

  • The first thought I got when I saw Jeff stand beside Eric Clapton was how tall he was and according to someone on the internet he is 193 cm.

  • Iguana Clapton is the best

  • It's really difficult to say has Jeff Beck made a mistake at 1:19 or he did it with a purpose.

  • @lawchihei I think he did a mistake and immediately fixed it - as the great guitarrist he is.

  • Superbissime,

Deux grands, merci pour le partage.

Jeff beck, un très grand, éric Claton également.

    Thanks very much.

  • Jeff Beck, un guitariste comme l'on en fait plus...

    La classe à l'état pur !

De plus, accompagné par un manchot de la gratte comme Éric Clapton, quel intense moment de bonheur !

  • who's the third guitarist?

  • Comment removed

  • Doyle got zero love from Jeff. At the end he just looked at him like, "well you fucked that up didn't you".

  • Clapton comented on famous graffiti "Clapton is God" : "How can i be God when there is Jeff Beck!"

So there is no point in trying to draw some bad blood amongst them. They always were frends and will be. Period.

And they have their unique sound and always will. ;)

Doyle's part was awesome, i loved the solo!

  • wow, Doyle sounded surprisingly ordinary next to Jeff

  • @PCMiller1000 who is Nigel? He don't play in this?

  • I didn't know Nigel from spinal tap played with Eric Clapton! Give that man a crustless sandwich!

  • Nobody works a whammy bar like Mr. Beck, he owns that fucken thing !

  • there are various forms of greatness ... and all of those who actually attain it will tell you this ... it isn't a competition ...

who you prefer is up to you ... i can tell you each of these players sees the greatness in the others ... the gods don't criticize or make comparisons ... only mortals do that ...

  • As in life and religion... different gods are no lesser gods..

  • OK . The lefty guitarist is Doyle Bramhall from Texas. Clapton doesn't steal the show. He was invited by Jeff to play the ripping solo right at that moment to blow your minds...it worked...As far as the competitive aspect you gentlemen want to talk about, when you are at the level of these players, it is all about personal sound and not about ego. Sorry to have to tell you : competing with anyone is to miss the point of playing music altogether.

  • @booksteve Not true to them. Clapton wanted to better Hendrix according to Pete Townshend.

  • Who is the guy playing guitar upside-down?

  • you cant take anything away from clapton. he is a genius, in a different way

  • the younger guitarist has a few tricks to learn but he did better playing next to clapton and jeff than i thinks most would he maintained claptons energy from that solo and transferred it into jeffs very smoothly to talk down on him for not being quite such a standout player is the wrong thing to do hes much younger and less experienced then them it would be a shame if he didn't get to play with these two old masters of music.

  • In my opinion weighing these three guitarist against each other isn't the right thing to do. Here's what I'm saying Clapton is a great traditional blues player even pushed forward pentatonic scale techniques in his time. Jeff is a guitarist who has a style almost no one even many of the best can emulate 'and is capable of putting emotion deeply within harmonies almost as well as others do with melodies.

  • whowwwww. man, that was something. Jeff is looking good for being an older man. Nice lean look. And all these comments are very interesting. I think what makes these guys so great is the way they relate to each other. They can actually get up on stage

and it's total communication. And Clapton did NOT steal the show in 20 seconds. grow

up. They were all fabulous. Who was the lefty??

  • @zippers2 i'de disagree, no one gets the subtle nunaces jeff beck gets...he makes the guitar whimper, cry, growl, scream, quiver, like richie blackmore said the guys plays notes i can't even find on my guitar.....frank zappa rating guitarist is a stupid hobby but if you really really backed me into a corner i'de say jeff beck is the best

  • Yeah he can use his wang

  • Comment removed

  • First you think Doyle's solo is so soft! But when you listen again it really fits!!

  • They tore it up i really enjoyed that piece!!!

  • Why do people always argue about who is a better player? Does it really matter who's solo is "better"? People have their own preferences on who sounds better. All that matters is they played with soul and have passion for their music. Different strokes for different folks. If you people are all about technicality rather than feeling, then go listen to one of Vai or Satriani's records (not saying they don't play with feeling, but judging on the comments it seems some of you are all about speed)

  • Claptons solo is cool, its typical middle or neck tone with a little speed thrown in to build up the dynamic. Doyle is no slouch but its obvious that Jeff is unimpressed. I disagree with the guy who says eric got his hat handed to him. his part was perfect.who wouldnt want to get busy with that cmin to Abmaj7 f min gmaj7 chord structure. this song is better when eric plays it with jeff

p.s hendrix is dead, he had his chance and decided drugs were better than longevity. He wasnt needed here

  • @poppyseller1 Jimi hendrix died on accident you fuck

  • @TheWild612 but i would say he die early anyway from drug but i think hendrix is one of the greatest guitarist

  • @TheWild612 No dude he was poisoned buy sleepin' pills and alcohol or somthin' like that.

  • @poppyseller1 It seems to me that you think guitar playing is a competition. You say that Jeff is unimpressed but I don't agree with that at all. I think Jeff Beck out of all people has more class than to think "wow, Doyle's solo really sucked compared to what I could do". BTW I think that comment about Hendrix wasn't needed. I don't agree with his use of drugs either, but that isn't going to change my respect or opinion of how important and how great of a guitarist he is.

  • @poppyseller1 Wow; stick to selling poppies and stop sucking the joy out of music. And, regarding the Hendrix drug comment, what a nasty thing to say.

  • who is the bassist ??

  • @memmem216

     Nathan East.

  • @memmem216

    NATHAN EAST

  • Jimi should really be playing up there with them.

  • @OnlySometimes13 in my opinion, i think jimi is not in their level. don't sass me cause i still think jimi is a great guitarist

  • @yp8087 I honestly think you are right on this but if Jimi was still alive and had been playing all those years like them, I think he would be on there level if not farther. I am a little biased because he is my idol in guitar playing but I think you are right.

  • @OnlySometimes13 i played guitar for about 6 years and i always had this discussion about what makes great guitarist. For me, i think it's all about the feeling you have between two notes and how to hold them and release them. jeff is master at that. but, when jimi plays it, the solo sounds awesome and technique is better than jeff usually. but, it's not as flow as jeff's solo. you can get technique by practicing long time. but learn how to have that feeling u can't master it by just practicing.

  • Jeff Beck by far has the cleanest sound on guitar...ever!

  • Capton: " Jeff can use the wang..." :)) :))

  • Claptons songs ,longlivety , Influence , pentatonic styles > Jeff Beck

    Jeff becks technique > Claptons

Overall Clapton is a greater player Jeff is a better player

  • How i wish i could have Beck and Clapton playing back guitar for me...

  • beck > clapton

  • That isn't clapton voice is it?

  • @The12Child He's narrated because god won't speak like this

  • I get nothing out of Clapton's sound. Beck's tone and all the subtle sounds he can create blows Clapton out of the water. Beck can make the guitar sing or talk, and it seems to be alive...telling you a story. I listen to Clapton, an it all sounds the same, but in a different melody. Beck can make a note sound 10 different ways while everyone else sounds the same...

  • @shawnspeed3 Honestly. People should not talk about music, when they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. You have so much to learn. Eric Clapton - Old Love live Crossroads. Check it out please before you make any other mistakes. You should learn to play guitar before talking about it. Aftreall, Clapton is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When Beck reaches that point in his life we can talk about equals. Really nice performance from Beck though.

  • how must doyle have felt... jeff beck and clapton standing right next to him watching him solo, must have been pretty special

  • Well, Clapton doesn´t stole the whole song and he doesn´t ruined it. Yes, the whole band switches pace to spotlight but i downloaded the song on mp3, too and i know when EC comes WITHOUT spotlight. And Jeff Beck is like an artisan an EC is like an engineer if you understand me. Eric Clapton can improvise better than Jeff Beck but Jeff Beck is engineering just alien.

  • Melody not so good as it could be n impro for this reason wants to be better

  • ..."stole the whole song"...? Jeff B could do what Clapton did... but as Clapton said, he couldn't begin to do what Beck does. This man shows us what "playing" a guitar really means. Beautiful, fine strokes of an artist.

  • @brianomal So what? 10 year olds can play Eruption and Stairway to Heaven; it doesn't mean they can create anything as memorable.

  • unbelievable!!!

  • maybe C give some room to the others, idn know

  • all 3 of the solos were great

  • Beck has so much tone! I never understood Clapton's playing (no disrespect intended)...just kinda bored me. Beck is so clever and the tonal range is incredible...almost unreal. Nothing Beck played sounded the same.

  • jeff's reaction to eric's solo: X-D

    jeff''s reaction to doyle's solo: -_-

  • You know the other guitarst is none other that Doyle Bramhall II from Arc Angels! Love it!

  • clapton didnt steal the show, he ruined it. his tone was overly compressed, his playing sounded monotone and lacked cleaniness. jeff's tone was way cleaner and better polished, it is clearly evident (at least in this video) who was the better guitarist.

  • jimmy page is missing....

  • Clapton got his hat handed to him. When a player feels outclassed he resorts to speed. I have never heard Clapton play faster than on this song. Beck has tone and technique that Clapton lacks , all Clapton could respond with was speed and Beck is just as fast. Give Beck his due, he is a master of tone.

  • And of course a nod to the writer of this ditty: Stevie Wonder. A bit of a genius himself.

  • Who's the 3rd guitar player? He's reversed the position of the strings

  • at 3.27 you can almost hear jeff saying "WTF dude"

  • @AndreasSku93 doyle bramhall II

  • Yeah, Jeck Beck has been pushing himself so much forward. Beck sound quite defferent to each period. 70s Blues-Rock Beck, 80s Jazz & Fusion Beck, 00s electronic Beck, and it could be much more varieties and possibilities of his tone.

  • Eric was a blues god thru D. & The D's but never advanced as a guitar player any further, only his vocals got better. Jeff plays with soul and imagination on this tune, Eric plays the same old blues licks, and they really don't say much on this tune, Doyle even had more soul.

  • This is a feast for the ears! Clapton, the god and Beck incredible performance!

  • I can't believe this didn't make it to the DVD, and since the DVDs were awesome, should've been a 3-disc DVD. Oh well.

  • F-ing amazing....

  • beck at his best.... on record. His is the guitar

  • When Clapton comes in the whole song simply reaches a new level. The feeling that goes into that little solo is something that cannot be replicated by any other living guitarists. Beck is bloody good though.

  • bramhalls solo sounds like population override by buckethead

  • page played that way "purposely".probably to differentiate the difference between him, jeff and eric.

  • great! favorite!

  • Wow. Clapton had to come with that speed to catch up with Beck. Both really awesome guitarist. Doyle is more of an Albert King-man. He is great too, but he can't match (yet) with Becks tornado-style and Claptons blueslicks.

  • I feel bad for the other guitarist, "I have to follow that?"

  • Jeff Beck looks like Courteney Cox in this video. His breasts look bigger.

  • Oh holy shit, it's Doyle Bramhall! :D

  • children, neither of these two come close to page and jimi.TRUTH.

HEY JEFF,WHY DONT YOU MAKE YOU TICKET PRICES MORE AFFORDABLE

FOR YOUR FANS???? HEY JEFF! WERE WAITING?!

  • @gibsongold1970 page is a sloppy guy

  • who's the guys?!

  • 3:33 Jeff was expect a bit more. He like "wow...this guy sucks!"

  • How great is listening to these two guitar masters performing.... It takes me high somewhere... to heaven.......Love you Clapton...

  • 1 person never ended as lover

  • its such a treat in life to experience such a thing as hearing or i should say feeling such a wonderfull guitar duo!

  • Stunning, simply stunning. Thank you

  • Saw them both together last year at the Garden...BOTH AWESOME!

  • Makes me wonder why I even bother playing anymore.

    LOL!

    Jeff? You da MAN!

  • Dude! Where did Eric Clapton pick up that SWEET stratocaster??!! I actually have the same color scheme in my dining room. HAHA!

  • @guitarkev77 custom made crashocaster....check 'em out online when u get the chance man....

  • Years of music running through their veins has resulted in something as fantastic as this!

  • Grand moment les amis!!!

  • clapton just ripping it

  • clapton is truly g-d

  • its just so fucking beautiful omg

  • 1:43

  • This is magic! Clapton!!! .... Beck!!!!!

  • Who is the lefty??

  • @varunjewalikar Doyle Bramhall II, I'm pretty sure.

  • @varunjewalikar doyall the 2nd

  • That left has some soul as well.

  • I've only found this vid yesterday, and I've watched it like 30 times since then, Jeff's playing is so emotional, & Eric's solo is..., I'm speechless, I can't describe it at all. it somehow reminded me a bit of the final part of " While My Guitar Gently Weeps" solo that Prince played on his rock n' rock hall of fame induction.

  • Comment removed

  • Jeff Beck is without a doubt the finest guitar player on the planet.....no disrespect to Clapton or any other.....how can you listen to this and not come up with the same conclusion??

  • in 20 seconds Clapton stole the whole song! I'm astonished, he's such a good player, Beck is awesome too!

  • Both legends with a barrage of music behind their belt, but do you think the lefty was intimidated, cause when he stepped in it felt like beck wanted to say come on kid take it. I wish clapton would have played that part that's all lol anyways ;}>

  • @Jedelshein No matter how good Clapton is, it seems a bit unfair to draw such comparisons. I mean, Jeff has a peculiar style and so does Clapton. The beauty of this video is that they let us enjoy their magnificent talent.

  • @Jedelshein it helps when the whole band switches pace to spotlight a 20 sec solo

  • @Jedelshein I don't know. Clapton part is a good one. A powerfull one! Who is the 3st guitar player?

  • @pablocamarotte Doyle Bramhall! he also plays with Roger Waters, he's an excellent player as well!

  • @Jedelshein Clapton will never ever, have Becks touch, never! FACT

  • @dan32113 and JB wont have claptons touch

  • @MrMusicM67 i think, you don"t understand Jeff Beck, what makes him special IS his touch. He plays with his fingers, there was even a book written on him, i think called magic fingers. Beck has a unique sound, & was the pioneer of many things before Hendrix... FACT

  • @dan32113 no no lol i understand that im just say that pretty much clapton has his own soun d and jb has his own sound. both very good.. but different.. they wont have eachother touch

  • @dan32113 i agree...and the great ones all know it...Hendrix admitted to borrowing some of his riffs.....richie blackmore "the guy plays notes i can't even find on a guitar"...frank zappa "rating guitar players is a stupid hobby but if you really backed me into a corner i'de say Jeff Beck is the best"....HEY Clapton is great but other guys sound like him....no one sounds like Beck....the guy is sound in pastels everyone else is crayons

  • @Jedelshein Clapton may appear to have 'stolen the whole song' to those not fully familiar with Jeff's work and just how good he is. And did you even listen to the rest of the song or did you just miss the incredible notes that JB pulls out of a strat?

  • Wild!!!

  • Clapton sure has the best solo in this one.

  • OMG, this is simply magic !!!!

  • This is magical!!!! I`m in the heaven!

  • i think eric is a very shy man in person i beat. a good man i think they both are even as people. music is just so good. Man im stoned lol

  • The young guy is Doyle Bramhall II. Another great guitar slinger from Texas. His dad is Doyle Bramhall Sr. (drummer) who co-wrote many, many songs with Stevie Ray Vaughan and so he's been around some Stratocasters before. He has worked with the likes of BB King, Susan Tedeschi and others and of course Clapton.

  • Anyone know who that younger guy is?

  • Damn I hate when they don't include the best stuff on the actual DVD.

  • I do not like Eric's tone

  • why in the name of god is this not included on the DVD? or some of the other stuff too?

  • @RockNRollOverDose vote this guys comment

  • Clapton looking frumpy in shorts and sneakers

  • There truly are two things I dont get with Jeff beck:

1- how can he get that sound out of a guitar?

2- How can he look so young?

  • @bahamut3014 He never get the bad habits of his pals Eric, Jimi and Jimmy.

  • @bahamut3014

    I should say,

nomatter the Sound the Telant or the Young Face,

that's why we never catch Jeff Beck~

And,that's the reason we all love him!

  • Jeff Beck - AMAZING! How dare Crapton mention his name in the same breath as Beck's! Wow Crapton playing a Blues solo - Whoop - De -Fuckin - Do - playing with Fire? He doesn't own a Lighter! I could do better -Really!

  • @manic1971 wow your username really suits you with that comment! you play "better"? prove it.

  • I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. Big fan of many of the greats... Zappa, Hendrix, Wes mongomery, etc etc. Not sure how I missed him, but never was exposed to much Jeff Beck, every thing I ever hear from him is just incredible. No one I've ever heard gets these sounds so pristine out of a guitar (and yea he makes me realize why a tube amp is the way to go). Thanks man for these bad ass songs :)
