  • What a shit!!! Please is powerfull but without good apps is a peace of shit

  • Will this operating system run deluxe paint IV ? I really miss deluxe paint IV. :)

  • wow i love how it utilizes ram so well XD

  • You can currently buy motherboards to build your own brand new Amiga with AmigaOS 4.1

Yes there is a Firefox port, runs fine and there's OWB of course.

Pretty much anything you want to do, you can do on an Amiga.

  • My PC boots faster...and the ability to power off like that is just because the Amiga doesn't use lazy-write caches, which improve perf. Amiga is long gone guys.

  • My heart is filled with melancholy when I see Amiga videos on Youtube.... I regret so much I sold my old Amiga 1200. The AmigaOS is still a great OS. But what about modern stuff like Mozilla Firefox or Skype or Open Office? Is this available to AmigaOS? Is the Amiga One sold somewhere or do you have to build your own Amiga today?

  • @74erPinguin No. I think there is a Firefox port, but it's old. Amiga is missing most of the software that PCs and Apple consider day-to-day now. FYI, I used to write Amiga software.

  • I'd completely forgotten about the Amiga One.

    You've whet my appetite ;).

Ashame I don't have my OpalVision card anymore.

  • I should make a movie... why the f*** am i still using windows...

    The Amiga OS looks great..

  • LOL - had an A500 in 1989 - bring back memories booting from df0: - creating a ram disk and copying command files into it - and running Lattice C from a complier - those were the days - It's cost £399 and was call the batman pack as yeah you guessed it batman came with it.

  • Is there any way to run Amiga OS 4 in a virtual machine?

  • You just pushed me over the edge man. Ordered the case from Amibay andchecking on Amigakit.com for the right hardware.

What is your experience with the 68k emulator and playing classic games? Does it work with trackloaders too?

  • @franquinet Me, too!!! Saving money at the moment to buy it!!

  • Did anyone ever think Windows would be a hundrad times better if it had a REPO system?

  • I would buy your Amiga just because of the reboot time! :) just kiddin', nice video, although I'd love to see new Commodore mouse and keyboard!

  • I don't know.

To me the Amiga was always about the powerful innovative hardware first, then the cutting edge brilliant software second.

Without that unique hardware, an Amiga just isn't an Amiga.

  • It;s not a port of Winamp.

  • Very good that reboot time. I can get a little better on Haiku but I am sort of cheating by using a PCI-e SSD ;c

  • Good old amiga, i had A1000, A500, A2000, A4000/40, but than i hated AREX and i think everybody run away because of that AREX $hit!

Now i have amiga on my Nokia phone touchscreen.

  • No, AmigaOS 4.1 is proprietary however MorphOS which is a derivative of it is open source

  • @Lorondos

    wait, only the desktop is...ambient

  • Is amiga open source?

  • But does it support flash?

  • Cool, thanks for sharing this. It's a good demonstration of why there are still Amiga enthusiasts out there. It's amazing that the community and OS developers have survived thus far and continue to provide a refreshing alternative experience. Todays computing is like riding on public transport. Amiga is like driving your own car!

  • I'm sure it's a lot of bad things u can say about the Amiga. I have had a few. 500, 500+, 600, CDTV, 1200. With 68030.

But one thing does the Amiga do better than a PC, wich the PC still have some trouble doing.

    Multitasking !!!

I could format 2 disks at one time, and still do other things on the side.

And that's still not handled well on a pc.

  • No screen capture software? The video camera on the monitor is kind of silly in 2010. I owned an Amiga in 1985, it was great, miles beyond anything on the market, but it almost seems frozen in time, a few modern features, a Mac dock here a safari type browser there, but it's old, trying to catch up.

Ram disks made sense years ago but now you've got so much hard rive space that's fast, why worry about a ram disk? You are trying to conserve resources that aren't scarce anymore.

  • There is screen capture software, SRec, I was just too lazy to use it I guess, it was just a quick demo, didn't want to do editing etc.

AmigaOs also had the dock years before OS X came along.

Ram disk is handy for installs/downloads, save clogging up your hard disk.

  • Ram disk makes a lot of sense as it's tremendously fast, compared to HD. Especially if you have tons of free ram with the OS using just a tiny part of it, like the author.

  • @nathanel1313

Only if you happen to live in 1985. Modern hard disks are fast and big. When I was was Amiga user (had a 1000 and 2000), the biggest problem was a lack of memory protection which allowed a rogue program to bring the whole computer down and you'd loose the ram disk....

  • Maybe you're right... But not only disk space was scarce at that time, so was memory, right? It's always like that in computing, you either have not enough ram or disk or both ;) In my wintel system 1,5GB of ram is not enough for some rather normal times. But if you have 1GB and OS is using 10% of it... Then ramdisk probably makes more sense.

And yeah, harddrives are fast, but still not fast enough to comfortably use pagefile. :)

  • The key is innovation. To revive Amiga you have to develop such hardware a software that will create a new revolution. And also keep the prices low,

  • @supergoofy123

A new Amiga is coming with a "customizable" chip, the AmigaOne X1000

  • ... which they aren't :(

  • Really? Then why don't you try searching on Google with the following keywords ;)

    "amigaone x1000" and "amiga xena"

  • MorphOS is better, faster and more regularly updated.

  • ...and by checking the "Amiga Future" Homepage (the last german printmag) from time to time I just see that things are even worse since I left the scene. I don`t think the day would come when Amiga appeared again in the stores, with a fair price and supported by a good Company. no, honestly. It`s just a niche - and it will be for the next 20 years. So much I do LOVE the Amiga (just take a look at my channel) - she`s dead. Compared to all other Systems that are available (including the Mac)

  • I guess the problem is that the world has changed, everyone had his crush on Amiga (I own an Amiga600) but as we know Amiga is kinda dead... I remember the day I went to the newsstand and they told me "TGM Action Amiga no longer exist" then I was not able to buy a new mouse in shops... no newer affordable models, etc. People loved Amiga but then passed to more convenient PC. The ones who still use an Amiga are each year fewer, until they finally face acceptance that Amiga is gone.

  • 2) - Amiga during 80's and half 90's was the FUTURE. The system was outstanding, both hardware and software were unbelievable for the time... but, that was not enough. Nowadays Amiga is the PAST, it's more like an expensive hobby, which sadly, we have no longer time and money to spent on. THE DAY well, I will be there... but until then I'm a PC user that sometimes uses A.I.A.B. and winuae. Ah, and if there is a chance that AmigaOS4 will run on PS3, then I will buy it.

  • i disagree. this video proves its not dead. and if a crazy invester someday is found maybe we'll see it in the stores again. what i dont like is that its not an amiga anymore. its a pc/mac with workbench. amiga had a unique hardware architecture and features. this machine is a pc/mac running workbench.

  • Sounds interesting. I was involved `til 2003 in the Amiga-Scene (the whole thing; writing for a German freeware Mag called "Fireball", used various Forums on the net and stuff like that). I would buy an Amiga THE DAY it is reborn and bury my stupid Windumb PC.But I guess this will never happen. The Scene is almost dead, even the Aminet is down, which was some kind of an ANCHOR for us all. The hardware is expensive as hell (I got a full equipped dualcore PC for 400 Euro).

  • Amiga rules :)

  • Amiga OS 4 is greta, Morph OS 2 is great!

  • Still makes me sad that commodore amiga is no more ,how it would be today if amiga stll would be?

It always had best grafics ,sound and skills .

    Jay Miner R.I.P

  • I love the AmigaOS. It's truly the most effective OS to date! I personally have an A4000/030 still running. I ve had A500, A600, A1200 and A4000 =)

  • @JesusIKnow Good old amiga, i had A1000, A500, A2000, A4000/40, but than i hated AREX and i think everybody run away because of that AREX $hit!

Now i have amiga on my Nokia phone touchscreen.

  • My GOD!, boot fast! o.0

  • Yeah... AmigaOS has always been fast, especially rebooting. I know a guy who made a PCMCIA card the boot-drive for his Amiga (classic A1200T/060/PCC etc). When using the PCMCIA card for booting it loaded the OS in about 7 seconds. Very cool!
