Hi Dan. Just found your posts and find them very informative. Appreciate you taking the time to break down the licks AND give the references (Cotton, Wilson etc...) I look forward to your getting your live sound together and posting your gear
samples and advice. Even through the computer, I can that your tone is strong and unique. That is something you just cant teach other than what you have already stated.Practice, practice, practice!
Is that an SM58 with a volume control Popper style?
All the secrets are rooted in secret number one then? Man, I am going to need to take that Mel Bay book back to the music store and get my $'s back. I used to think the circle of fifths was a recipe for long island iced tea before I got bit by toe pickle fever! Are you sure GHS did'nt take a few of his secrets to the grave?
Thanks for the compliment. I hope we can get some footage of us playing with our pianist. There's a Steinway grand in that room and it sounds nice. Stay tuned.
I don't know about you but I find my Harmonica amp does'nt have to be as loud as the other amps as my amplified harp sound cuts through. Do you experiance this?
I often experience the opposite. Many guitar players play so loud that the harmonica sound gets lost. That's not the case with Tom or Pete. In this clip I was loud because I was playing around with new effects, not because I had to be.
hey dan good to see you making a video again !!! you kind of dissapeared for a whille ,great job .. P.S are you and your brother twins or do you dress the same for fun lol
I know you told me that you got a bunch of gadgets recently. What were you using on this clip? From what I heard in the middle-ish part of the video, the rig sounds great.
Also, Tom Walpole sounds like a beast. Nice going! Solid all around.
Tom is indeed a monster guitar player. Pete has all the potential to be great too. He has talent and feel to spare. I was using the "Ricci bag of tricks" SM57 into Behringer Mixer, Kinder AFB, BBE Optical Compressor, Analogman Analog Delay, and the BBE Opto Stomp, into the Concert. I need to fiddle with settings and stuff. This was "trial 1" with all that gear.
Just to clarify: Pete is really good. I was trying the emphasize the fact that he gets better every time we play. As we gain experience together, I think the future is bright.
Hello Dan, Your friend Charlyharp here. Of course man that you have great potencial, you play bloody good harp man. Keep up the good work. Why do you say your set up is not right yet, you do not like the sound? It sounds good to me. We both know that Jason´s equipment sounds the bests ( because he is playing it though, jajajaja. ) Anyway wish you best of luck with the band. Big Hug from London. Charlyharp.
ps. Whenever you have a page for the band send me an invitation
We're working on getting some gigs in town here. For the amp, I'm not hearing as much punch as I want on this clip. I think the gear has what I need. I just need to learn how to set it. That's why I record jams like this. Hopefully we'll get some footage with piano too next time.
this is the kind of tune you would listen to at a bar. keep in mind, I have been drinking. But it does. I make me think. About life in general. Which is good :). Ha, Cheers. Blues Player ^_^
I'll get around to it. Let's just say that my "real life" is first priority. Been working hard at the day job, and working with Pete to get a band going. Youtube is fun, but i don't get paid for it. Thus, videos come when they come. Furthermore, I think some folks put out too many vids at once. You can't watch em all. Glad you still want them though. . .
Awesome, just flat out awesome.

I can give you all the secrets in a week. The first secret: You must practice for a long time to master all the secrets.

Hi Dan! ¿What amp & mic are you using? Very good that impro! ¿Do you just record the sound with you handy cam? Sounds really good!
roughharp 3 years ago
Shure SM57 (with Greg Heuman's volume control). Through a bunch of effects and into my brown Fender Concert.

If you find the time, please upload a video showing your gear. It helps a lot of people like me, harp lovers! Thanks a lot Dan!

It's fun to have nice informal jams like this.
They have an intimate, loose kind of feeling. Always glad to see your posts Dan!
