Well, First RE2 hasn´t the best graphic in PSX, other games such as MGS or FFIX made a huge improve. Then, graphics aren´t everything in gaming. Great games have importan storyline and great characters that made them important. And the development i think the best development team in PSX era are Kojima productions, If you didn´t play Metal Gear Solid before, give it a try. I recommend you that game.

And again, SH1 is superior than RE(psx) in almost every aspect but the graphics, i give you that

As a game, SH has the very essence.Have better argument, have better music, have better graphic (at least the first to the forth game), have better reference and inspirations, no only as a Survival horror is superior. I love this games because they are psychological terror that´s why i like those games i mean it´s not like just have a gun and kill a bunch of monsters, no, it is like enemies that are people insane, or monsters that came out from another dimension, or even from the mind of the characters, that´s a really survival horror game when you have no fire weapons or at least few ammuntion so it makes the game a survival horror, i´d like they do more REAL survival horror games cuz´ now is pure action :/

Dead Space did not even compare to Silent Hill. All Dead Space was is KILL KILL, BOSS, KILL SOME MORE. Silent Hill really scares you, and hell even RE series beats Dead Space lul.

by my limited experience in the horror genre all I can say 'till now is this:

japanese horror is ghost-oriented and more in the direction of psycollogical trauma.

the american horror is oriented in zombie universe,mass-murder criminals and,of course,Hell and the Devil.this is just an opinion to classify these type of horror games.

I HATED Silent Hill 4. And that is the worst insult ever considering Silent Hill is one of my favorite game series. SH4 shouldn't have even been in the series. I liked Walter Sullivan though. But the gameplay was obnoxious, and I only beat it because I want to play all of them. Henry has no personality other than being a bottom, Eileen is just a pain in the ass who doesn't have enough character manipulation programmed for her to know what to do with herself and ugh... so many things I cant fit.

Just because that's the main objective of the game doesn't mean it's a survival horror.

A survival horror is where you're helpless against the enemy, the game forces you to run, hide, and survive. When an enemy runs around the corner you think "OH SHIT FUCKING RUN"

An action horror is when you have a bunch of weapons that can take out enemies easily. When an enemy runs around the corner you think "Come here, bitch, I'm about to shove a shotgun up your ass."

@zacks1314  Fatal Frame 4 is only in Japanese, and you can only get it in Japanese, however there is a fan translation patch you can put on a SD card so that you can see what the English in the game should be.

I wish they'd release the game, but Nintendo gave Techmo next to no support for development of the game leaving it with two big glitches. The lack of games for a more hardcore audience on the Wii still sucks big time. Next best thing I think is the Calling.
