NOW FOR THE FACTS. First this is not a bus, it's an RV made by Country Coach, 42 ft. long. The trailer is a "Stacker" about 30 to 32 ft. 13ft.high. No CDL required for any RV. Most Country Coaches come with CATIPILLER diesel, turbo, NO straight exhaust. 8 to 9 MPG. Diesels do not have CAT Converters as someone stated. Bone stock RV as it appears to me.

@tristianck Before you call someone a dumbass you need to learn your facts, Turbos do both intake and exhaust, intake goes in and gets forced into the chamber by the exhaust gasses that come out the other end and go into the turbo and out the exhaust pipes, so the exhaust you see on the side of the RV is coming straight from the Turbo. and really theres nothing that says it even has a turbo other than the Tags that are wrong more than half the time. So all this is pointless anyways.
Why did this guy even decide to leave home? It would have been cheaper to get a 1 st class ticket on a plane, a Vila in a 5 star hotel, and have his car and motorcycles shipped back and forth between destination and his mansion
Drive that all day long without any hassle from the DOT/FEDS. But if you drive a under CDL truck that's 10,000lbs or more you have to drive across every scale. & if you have a CDL, you have to log like every 15 minutes & the DOT can give you a speeding ticket b/c they know how many miles the last station was & what time you logged you passed it. & you can never fight ANY ticket you get in ANY motor vehicle you're opping. Even if you can prove 100% you were innocent.
if i were going to spend that obserd amount of money for a coach that nice, i would have the trailer pained to match, like seriously! looking at at least 120,000 bucks rolling down the highway, whats another 1500 bucks at a paint shop???

As an RVer myself, what that motorhome driver is doing is INSANE if the speeds mentioned in the video are accurate. Just because it CAN go that fast doesn't mean it should - especially towing that much weight behind it. That's way too much weight to bring to an emergency stop at that speed if something happens in front of him.
california is the only stupid place you have to drive 55 while toeing thats why there is so much traffic. I have a coach same as this one i can't wait to roll across the border to arizona because every where else you can all drive the same speed limt big rigs and all then its hammer down . much less stress when everybody is going the same speed you don't have to keep changing lanes rolling up on a slow trucks .All the other states are posted 70 or 75 some parts of texas are 80 and i love it.

Guess what there is no straight pipe coming out of the back of that motor home as it would be illegal. Secondly the catalytic converter would have needed to be removed along with the silencer. Furthermore if you had any idea about the emissions requirement I can assure you that should this equipment been removed and you were that close to him..no one would have heard you giving the play by play as he was passing you. @jityr2 Nope No CDL required for RV. Some guys pull 5th wheels with Freightliner and Volvo Tractor trucks too. As long as you remove the "Tag Axle" and make is single axle you also don't need a CDL.
@jityr2 Tag Axle is Dual Axle in the Rear. The RV in this video is a "Tag Axle". If you remove 1 Axle from a "Big Rig" truck and change the goose neck for a 5th wheel, you can pull a 5th wheel with one of those "Big Rig" tractors and not need a CDL. Any RV or Motorhome does NOT require a CDL.

Can you drive it without a CDL only in designated areas and rural areas? Or is city driving legal too. "Change the goose neck for a fifth wheel". @jityr2 Nope I am not kidding. Understand that as long as it is intended for "RV" use. The key here being "Recreational Vehicle". This is why you will see lettering on the vehicle stating something like "For Personal Use Only, Not For Hire". The hitch on a comercial truck is different (much bigger) than that for a fifth wheel. State laws differ so it's best to check with local DOT as far as residency requirements.

I can understand that, it really seems intimidating to see a big rig like that. Like I said in my last post, they are not that hard to drive. Want to see a nice rig Youtube Search for "2009 Monaco Dynasty Regal IV - 26038" and click on that video. Then if you really want to see a big rig Youtobe search "Newell Coach Luxury Motorhome". This is a 45' Rig loaded.
I agree it's pretty cool, it's common to see this kind of rig pulling a smaller "Toad". I used to sell campground memberships for a large membership group and have seen just about everything under the sun. I used to have a 39' rig and am about to buy a 40' rig soon, and being on the road you see a lot of this kind of thing.
It's real easy to drive those rigs, just look at most of the people driving them, you see people in the 70's and 80's out there.
@MaxKetteler nah, I don't think so. This isn't the typical entertainer coach. Those stars usually travel in the Prevost type entertainer coach (thus the name). I just think this is a couple on the road. It's actually an older coach most likely late 90's ealy 2k. I tried to find an identifier but didn't see one. Most newer coaches have the manufacturer info on the back near the back up camera or on the long mud flab on the back. Still a cool vid none the less.
First of all that's NOTa " Bus", it looks like a 40 or 42' coach with a "Tag Rear Axle". I bet he has the cruise control set and is most likely playing his favorite tunes on the surround system enjoying the smooth air ride laugning at you. His wife is most likely kicking back in the leather recliner on the other side reading a good book. It's not really that big of a deal man, just some folks traveling in style...

Well, if you can hold the speed limit or higher, you are really not holding anyone up in the fast lane, DMV says no reason to be going over speed limit at ANY given time.

@AndrewWallace1 The signs are at least 16 feet high , the trailer is no higher than 13 ft 6 inches. I haul loads over 15 foot high and I have never hit a sign or a traffic light.
First of all, its not a school bus, its a motor home, and there is no such thing a strait pipeoff the turbo, because the exhuast is recirculated through the exhaust to creat the boost. Also, you are NOT required a CDL for a motorhome, because it is not a commercial vehicle, hence Commercial Drivers Lisence.
@bmacz28 Of course it can have a straight pipe of the turbo. The exhaust gas drives a fanwheel which is attached to a shaft and on the other end of the shaft is a fan which creates the boost , the boost is the intake air coming through the air filters and going into the intake manifold under pressure.

I have a few years on you, Corvairwild, and I drive one of those bigger than life diesel powered motor homes and they are noisy. You have around 500HP Cummins or Cat engines with a short pipe attached to a muffler which is tied with another short pipe to the turbo. That reduces the noise but it still makes a lot of noise when you are at the exhaust area of the coach. I think you will find modified autos which don't have a muffler, but I don't think you will find very many mh owners doing that.

I can understand that, it really seems intimidating to see a big rig like that. Like I said in my last post, they are not that hard to drive. Want to see a nice rig Youtube Search for "2009 Monaco Dynasty Regal IV - 26038" and click on that video. Then if you really want to see a big rig Youtobe search "Newell Coach Luxury Motorhome". This is a 45' Rig loaded.

I agree it's pretty cool, it's common to see this kind of rig pulling a smaller "Toad". I used to sell campground memberships for a large membership group and have seen just about everything under the sun. I used to have a 39' rig and am about to buy a 40' rig soon, and being on the road you see a lot of this kind of thing.
It's real easy to drive those rigs, just look at most of the people driving them, you see people in the 70's and 80's out there.

@MaxKetteler nah, I don't think so. This isn't the typical entertainer coach. Those stars usually travel in the Prevost type entertainer coach (thus the name). I just think this is a couple on the road. It's actually an older coach most likely late 90's ealy 2k. I tried to find an identifier but didn't see one. Most newer coaches have the manufacturer info on the back near the back up camera or on the long mud flab on the back. Still a cool vid none the less.

First of all that's NOTa " Bus", it looks like a 40 or 42' coach with a "Tag Rear Axle". I bet he has the cruise control set and is most likely playing his favorite tunes on the surround system enjoying the smooth air ride laugning at you. His wife is most likely kicking back in the leather recliner on the other side reading a good book. It's not really that big of a deal man, just some folks traveling in style...

I just sold my 39 foot rig and indeed we used to laugh when pol took pictures and video, just happy and enjoying life. your video is nothing big, just a couple cruising in a coach. my rig set at 75 on the interstate pulling a dodge ram had no problem keeping that speed. @AndrewWallace1 The signs are at least 16 feet high , the trailer is no higher than 13 ft 6 inches. I haul loads over 15 foot high and I have never hit a sign or a traffic light.

First of all, its not a school bus, its a motor home, and there is no such thing a strait pipeoff the turbo, because the exhuast is recirculated through the exhaust to creat the boost. Also, you are NOT required a CDL for a motorhome, because it is not a commercial vehicle, hence Commercial Drivers Lisence.

The exhaust gas drives a fanwheel which is attached to a shaft and on the other end of the shaft is a fan which creates the boost , the boost is the intake air coming through the air filters and going into the intake manifold under pressure.

No. You only need a CDL if you're driving a commercial vehicle. If the vehicle is for private or personal use a CDL is not required.

i stand corrected, except in one case , IDK if it applies in this one. BUT if a vehicle is over 26000 pounds, i know youd need a cdl of some sort if the vehicle in question was a truck, ( box truck) idk about motorhomes though

So, 55 or 60 is old to you! What a dud you must be. And, the exhaust is not connected directly to the turbo, there is a muffler between the exhaust pipe and the turbo on all motor homes. Read up and become a bit educated so that you don't post ignorant videos.

I have a few years on you, Corvairwild, and I drive one of those bigger than life diesel powered motor homes and they are noisy. You have around 500HP Cummins or Cat engines with a short pipe attached to a muffler which is tied with another short pipe to the turbo. That reduces the noise but it still makes a lot of noise when you are at the exhaust area of the coach. I think you will find modified autos which don't have a muffler, but I don't think you will find very many mh owners doing that.
