  • Thanks for the video, great that you got it working!

I don't understand why you washed the board though. You say "...this is necessary because of conductor which short-circuited parts on my board". I don't understand.

I know some people wash boards when they are covered in dust, as dust on chips can make them overheat.

  • wmg strikes AGAIN!!!

  • i'll post a video response about a problem i'm having with my mac se. everything seems to be fine except the screen which is blank! I can even hear the hard drive loading!

  • @lolfunnycp it's a se, not a se/30. also it is fdhd

  • how install the system 6.0.8 in my Macintosh SE/30 FDHD i need help i need back to the life this mac, thanks

  • @ipolarworks

This is quite easy if you've got an old Mac or PC with a floppy drive. Because the SE/30 and the SE FDHD have got an HD drive, you can just download the 6.0.8 disk images for free on the Net (Apple Server, Old Software List), write the images to disks and boot your old Mac with these. Then you can install the system.

  • I'm working on a Mac SE, it's booting now. A question: Where can I find the Prince of persia for mac? I can only find the DOS' version. Thank you! And congratulations, wonderful video!

  • Unfortunately the old Underdogs server where thousands of these old Mac games were hosted is gone :(. A new site was put up: macintoshgarden (dot) org. But they don't have Prince of Persia for Mac yet. They announced they will upload more games in the next months, so you should look for it in regular intervals.

  • I have the "Prince of Persia" for Mac! Now I'm thinking... How take the .sit from my linux box to the SE? Working on it. Another question: You really wash the motherboard? :-O Thank you again.

  • No idea how to transfer it. On my SE/30 it was easy because it has an HD drive and my PC could write these disks, but the SE only has DD... And yes, I did wash my motherboard because it had the SimasiMac (leaking caps short out traces) and refused to boot. After that, I desoldered these leaking chip caps from the board and soldered in new tantalum caps. Now the SE/30 is running fine again. This is only necessary on the SE/30! Your SE most probably doesn't even have chip caps that could leak...

  • @diseitz Just use Stuffit.

Now, as for the exisitng .img file, you are on your own, though I have found a program for MS-DOS that will write .img files on to a floppy disk, and will format the disk in to hfs format, for use on a Macintosh.

  • delete this video, upload again without the music info in your description so we can hear the audio

  • WMG is muting every videos!

  • I have finally just got my mac se to work! My dad bought the os from a guy and it worked!!! But does anyone know where I can get some software for it?

  • Go to macmothership (dot) com. They've got old Mac software for original compact Macintoshes.

  • System 7.5.5? How did you manage to install it? Which is its hard-drive size? I myself tried to install 7.5.3 on a 40 mb Macintosh Classic to no avail: 23 mb for the 19 raw install disk downloaded from the Apple web, thus about 15 mb free to install: no way. System 7.5.3 requires at least 19 mb free in the hard-drive.

    Perhaps you could tell....

    Regards.

  • Uhm, this is easy. The original HD (80 MB) was broken, the SE/30 was sent to Apple and they replaced it with a 330 MB one. This happened in the mid-90s. Now I have inserted a blasting 2 GB Quantum drive... You're right, 40 MB is not enough for 7.5, I'd recommend System 7.1 for a Classic.

  • Prince of Persia, Lemmings and Shufflepuck Café ! Epic

I grew up with those games. I still have a working SE30

  • What is the song at the start??

And what is the song at the end??

    lol

    tom

  • Song at start: Toccata in d minor (J.S. Bach)

Song at end: Chariots of Fire (Vangelis)

  • thanks

    :)

  • Somebody please help i want a old mac what is the first mac that can boot from ROM?

  • There's only one Mac that can boot from ROM: The Mac Classic. It's also a compact Mac like my SE/30 and has less power, but you don't need a system disk because you can boot System 6.0.3 from ROM. But I don't recommend booting from ROM (too unflexible), so you should get system disks.

  • I've had not only simasi pattern during the start procedure but also no audio (except for a fleeble mono signal on earphone). I had to recap all caps (they had been leaking over time) and rework audio circuit bypass antiripple traces that were either shorted and corroded.

  • What kind/brand of detergent did you use?

  • Because I'm from Germany, I used the detergent "Frosch". It's very popular here and you can get it at any supermarket. I don't know how it's called in other countries, but there should be similar products: it's a pH-neutral detergent.

  • LOL Chariots of Fire was played when Steve Jobs introduced the Macintosh in 1984! It's funny that you put that song there! By the way, are you running Mac OS 7 on that computer?

  • Yeah, Mac OS 7.5.5 (newest possible OS w/o hacks). I wanted to try playing MP3's on that thing, so I upgraded the system to run the player. But then I figured out that it's too slow for playing MP3's at original speed ;-)

  • Chariots of Fire XD Nice touch, Steve Jobs.

  • neat its amazing how you can wash a motherboard and it will bring it back to life like what you did

  • Cool. I had to do that to my Macintosh Classic II. I was also afraid of washing the board.
