Aside from the youngsters in attendance that evening, there likely wasn't a dry eye elsewhere. I was there, balling my eyes out, pumping my fist in the air from the aisle on the right side of the theatre. The closest thing I ever got to seeing a true musical legend of the 20th Century.

at first I kept thinking people were talking about the part where she slid to the floor but they must have cut from that view of the actual bounce to the floor and spring back up on the tv version, that is why I kept saying, what the hell are they talking about, but yes, the best have fell before and will keep falling, it happens.........shit happens sometimes.but Janet is a true trooper~!

I love, love my girl Janet but she almost hit the floor. She caught herself and kept going. That shows she got the best balance, and why she's one of the best dance, entertainers ever!!!

This had to be the most important night of my life. Worth the wait, after long hours of rehearsals, dealing with security and no sleep. I had the honor to work on this opening number and personally assist/work with the top choreographers in the industry. Being able to be a part of this, was a blessing. I've had the honor to work on many award shows, televised events, and countless productions. THIS ONE TOPS ALL OF IT! The backstage and pit energy was amazing. Respect 2 the whole team & U MJ

To make sure my interpretion is understood i am angry about the view they showed on TV at Janet's solo part and am aware that this is not the Pros but a fan that did this, this work was nearly better than the PRO CAMS hell, give the fans the cam they would know exactly what to film, they know when to get in close on Janet when she does her thang, we know when to get in on them moves!!!! You have to know Janet to know how to film!!!! GREAT JOB FAN

Although the loved this view of the performance i'm glad they only showed janet during the dance break. did you notice that most of the dancers didn't do the knee drop? that would have looked a mess on television....mtv knows whats their doing. plus they wanted the capture janet and the image of michael dancing together.

OH MY GOD, I would have never dreamed I would see this view, I got so angry when the PRO cams did a pan OUT when Janet did the solo and jumped down, i wanted to see all that close up, why the hell they always jumping to that damn attic cam? who wants to see the Roof, i want to see some damn dancing they worked so hard to show what they got and the artistic cam controler PANS to the WIDE view that makes me soooo angry when they do that on a dance routine great as Janet does!!!

Well tyce used to actually dance with Janet back in 97-99 during her Velvet Rope Era. he was one of her main dancers, and Tina used to choreograph.

I just realized that Tina Landon, Cris Judd, and Laurie Ann Gibson were dancing with Janet. You can see all of them together right before they go into the slide. Tina and Cris didn't even pop down. Tina bended her knee to pop down. Cris squatted. I believe that Laurie was able to pop down and back up.

Some people were talking about Janet messing up when she dropped to her knees and couldn't get all the way back up. But, if you look at the dancers to her left, I counted 3 of them who either went down on one knee or just squatted. They didn't even try.

ur soo right...and if you look. she was on point! i remember being unsure if she would slide, pop down or back up, and she did all three (remember, she's not 28/29 anymore, she's 43). but if you notice she is short, and i believe when coming up, her pants leg caused her right leg to slip. THATS ALL...that was an AMAZING performance by far!!!
