  • practice and practice thats the key ,pick up a few keys to start with Am,F,G,D,Dm,E,C that will get you started on a few songs, after awhile you will be putting your finger in the right place without even thinking about it,sometime i close my eyes for practice, switching chords just takes time ,listening to the song over and over and you will be switching at the same time as the guy playing.

  • You would use the DU Well I started out on the F Chord. Hope that helps?

  • Tim, I've been practicing the strumming and the chord changes. Still slow, but getting there. Question...After the last part of the intro (4xs), the G chord repeats for the start of the singing "Well I Started...". Do I continue with the strumming of DU, or do I go with another UUD to start the song? This same scenario happens again at "As the town..." and again after the Chorus.

  • I love it god voice to i wish i could play i cant even switch cord i dont get it

  • @Johnny141997 Keep at it!

  • how to you play the cords?? witch fingers do you have to use for the chords?

  • @silviejajaja Look in the description there is the link to see the chords towards the bottom. Hope this helps -Tim

  • is tthis a simplified version?

  • @CostaLottaMoney1 No,that's pretty much it, just slowed down to a practice speed. It literally is just four chords repeated over and over. Simple, and a great tune.

  • good for newbie

  • NOW U ARE MY SENSEI !

  • Great lesson man.

  • do you use adobe?

  • Okay so I got my first guitar, so what should I learn first? Should I learn different chords first? If so, which ones? Please help and thanks! Ps. What is the best method for a beginner to learn fast.

  • @BuhnanaFone Click the link to my website below my video. This will help you get started plus you will get my one on one email support.

  • @BuhnanaFone Try D, A and E.

  • @BuhnanaFone u have to first learn either the scales or the chords

  • @BuhnanaFone To learn fast almost sleep with your guitar to begin with ,just drum the keys into your brain then you dont need to keep checking which is which.

  • nice instructional video for beginners....... not super fast like most out there. thx

  • good teching skills thx for the effort. most people barely try very helpful.

  • Good lesson, brother!

  • good job

  • Awesome!

  • its great good gob man im gonna learn it now

  • Great lesson !!!

  • Is it the same pattern the whole way through example everytime its on F it's DU or G chord it's DDU ?

  • :) sounded amazing! i'll get round to learning it once i have listened to you singing it a few more times, beautiful cover

  • thank you so much i never kne how easy this song was to play XD

  • Gr8 beginner lesson,thank you!

  • This is really good, I just got my guitar yesterday and I am learning this song. I don't know if you do requests or not but there is a song called Mr. Jones by Counting Crows which would be AMAZING if you could break it down into easy steps like this!

  • Thank you

  • Does anyone know how I can tune my guitar without any device by ear? And if Im to buy a paticular tuning device, what would be best??

  • learn the guitar fretboard from net and download some nice guitar finger picking softwares and refer to the nodes at play.. It should sound similar if you play on similar strings.. :P

  • I really like the Korg CA-30 tuners. I don't know if they would be considered the 'best' but I think they do the trick.

  • Have one for my guitar and violin. I second C1's opinion.

Their inexpensive but work really well.

  • i dont know now to much ,,but ive knoticed that everybody buys the $20 korg tunner, ive got 2 and thats my choice,it does bouth elec, and acoustic..but anything will get it close enough if you are starting out like me..well i played for 6 months now ...was fumbling around on the tube one night ,and ran across someone playing a guitar lesson bought me a guitar the next day, and play it religously 6 hours a day..

  • go to google and type in guitartuner. its just one file really good! make sure you have a pretty good sound card. or just tune the first string then use the 5th fret trick

  • do u have a itouch lifestraight. if u do go to the appstore and type in guitar tuner and its gonna be the first one. its free

  • use online guitar tuning what i use just click the string n match the sound with the one on your guitar

  • i would go by tuning it with youtube, just type guitar tuning or something,

  • Fret your 2nd string at the 5th fret and tune it so it sounds the same as your open 1st string (1st=string closest to you). Do that with each string until you reach the 4th string, fret it at the 4th fret and tune the 5th string so it matches that. Then fret the 6th string at the 5th fret and tune to match open 4th. It's pretty easy..

  • Thanks....very nice

  • NICE!

  • thanks i could never do this up to speed for awhile but i came backl to it today after playing other songs for awhile and am way faster changing the chords! sweet! practice makes perfect!

  • i remember watching this the first week i started guitar and thought no way am i gonna play that. Year later i heard the song looked up this video and realized how easy it is.

  • FUCK THIS LOOIK SO HARd

  • How do u do the F?

  • place your index finger so that it covers both the 2nd and 1st strings on the 1st fret.

Place your middle finger on the third string 2nd fret

Place your ring finger on the 4th string 3rd fret and strum starting from the 4th string. (dnt strum the 6th or 5th). hope i helped

  • What do you mean by the first string? the E top or the E from the bottom?

  • Buy a poster of all the chords at walmart or your local retailer.

  • Thanks Tim , just starting out learning this year . Love this song and I'm going to practice this till my fingers bleed ! I like the way you give proper detail on the strumming patterns as so many "beginner" videos on YouTube don't do this . Thanks again .

  • ur hardcore man, thanks for the lesson. u rock

  • thank you very much, sir, for your video. it finally gave me the hang of this song that ive been trying to learn for ages.

    many thanks.

  • As far as speed goes, I'm taking a while for the song to sound synchronized. Is it normal to be struggling with playing it fast for a while? How soon should I be able to play it as fast as it should be, generally???

  • Hey Celeste,

It will take a little while especially if you are a beginner. It all comes down to practicing the pattern over and over take it slow and build up speed once you get the pattern down.

Here is a tip when going to the Am chord from the C chord don't move your first finger. That will help for these two chords.

Give it time you will get it!

Keep at it and never give up:-)

  • i got a nylon string guitar which means it is harder to press the strings to make a tune. Should i get steel strings instead?

  • if your begging out without the calists on your fingrs then i would go to a music store and talk to them on what to get

  • Nylon String guitars are easier on your fingers, just have it set with a low action and soft tension strings. Steel strings on a classical guitar will damage your instrument as it's not designed to handle that much string tension.

  • a lot of professional guitarist practice alternating down up....I find it smoother myself as well.

  • thanks! this is awsome!

  • Thanks so much! The strumming really helped me.

  • thanks mate
