You can upload a high resolution video and they'll probably encode it at 480x360 themselves, but with mono audio (unless the person viewing adds &fmt=18 to the video url). Or you can still upload a flash video if you keep the total bitrate under 350kbit, either by sacrificing video quality or padding it with low bitrate empty frames at the end.
I encoded this specific video on my Linux machine, but recently I got a new system with Vista so I've been using ffmpeg on that too. If you search Google for "ffmpeg win32", the first result is where I downloaded it from.
yea i've tested both... but on linux ffmpeg does not work with this parameter: "-sws_flags +lanczos", Also I'm encoding a 6:49 lengh video. But it doesn't go further than 5:00, both, windows and linux version. have any idea??? ohh. source video is Xvid format...
The ffmpeg build in Ubuntu is a little old. I ended up downloading and compiling the latest from SVN.
As for it limiting to 5 minutes, that would happen if you accidentally typed "-t 300", limiting it to 300 seconds. t and g are pretty close to each other.
Using any video converter free with 320x240 video bit rate 512 and any bit rate under 96 works just as well without having to fudge anything. Even DVD or Digital video only comes out to about 5 meg per minute when converted to flash.
Not since February 4th or so.

nice! what did you use to compress?
PS: playback glitches... keeping total below 700Kbps/800Kbps will stream smoothly :)
frifox 4 years ago
I used ffmpeg. Two pass with the quality flags "-mbd rd -flags +4mv+trell+aic -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 300 -sws_flags +lanczos"

i use ffmpeg for quite a while but still dont know what all those flags do lol :) good job!
pretty good encoding none the less! i did similar thing with my "Paulina Rubio - Ni Una Sola Palabra", but 600Kbps video.
