The zoomed in image looks very similar to the so-called morphing UFO, but that is because of very poor image resolution. When zoomed in like that from that camera, IMO, it looks nothing at all like balloons.

The long shot that was shown at the beginning of this video looks very much like a cluster of silvery balloons. This test was very slanted, and still doesn't in any way necessarily discredit any of the other cases Jaime has investigated, just brings to light one possible explanation.

@DavePerry2012 What I meant to say is that I agree that the morphing UFO was probably these balloons, but to simply show someone the zoomed in image and ask "what is that" is unfair because of extremely poor image resolution and the fact that the reflected light mistakenly looks like light originating from lights on the object. You would have to go on and present evidence that every other case Jaime has presented can be explained in a similar way, otherwise you are just jumping to conclusions.

Something's wrong with this comparison...where are the black balloons? A cluster of silver, red and gold ones, chosen carefully to resemble the original footage flutter about as they lift off into the sky, illuminated by the Sun. The 'morphing' object has distinct black / dark blobs, moving along and about a solid mass...and I know your response will be shadows on the balloons...but every eye sees things differently. Look closely...

I can say this categorically because I've seen identical objects/ configurations myself. Caught one on video yesterday & had a good opportunity to observe it carefully. It didn't look like a balloon cluster at all - it was a cloud of cotton tick, pink haze, arrays of lights dancing around its edges, distinct bright light flashes coming from underneath it, it's as simple as that!

Nobody would had expected for a bundle of balloons to behave or appeared as it was captured on film. If the balloons were not moving around, more than likely they would had been quickly identified as a bundle of balloons. I'm curious if the first purposely released group of balloons were not successful, how many times would Mufon continued to release the group of balloons until they a got a video match? There is no way the object in that video is the same bundle of balloons they released later on. There is no possible way for you to know that the bundle of balloons was released on the same day of this UFO sighting. The sighting could have easily been filmed before the bundle of balloons was released by these cover up artist and there would absolutely no way knowing it from the viewers perspective.

At the end of July 2008 in Kelowna B.C. Canada I saw a very similar object. It was like a metallic cloud with a molten core. I lost alot of sleep especially after i saw it again in this video. Its not a fake. This Discovery Channel attempt is quite sad. Watch as they cut away from the object to their balloons right before the part where it obviously morphs. I'd love to see this guy's full collection of UFOs in hi res.

This was not objective at all. Why not use the same camera Arturo used and show them in a split screen for the same amount of time? Notice how the real balloons were blowing away? That's what happens when the wind blows. The original was stationary. How can the group be stationary if the wind is blowing them around? 1SAM007 has one that is better than Arturo's. You can check out my vid Concave Balloon and then show me an example of a concave balloon that looks and behaves like it.

Good points - wind is a tricky subject. It's impossible to tell what drafts were up there at that altitude. It is feasible that mylar balloons reach an altitude ceiling, at which point the lift from the helium is no longer effective at raising them higher.

It's also likely that the balloons might encounter drafts that simply spin the cluster, and only move it slightly, making them appear "stationary".

That's right. I agree, but more of my point is that the quality of the "scam" is questionable. They didn't go into any detail how they got Arturo to see that set of balloons. They edited the known balloon footage with Arturo's at different parts so it was misleading as to which was which. They should have shown the footage in split screen so it would show exactly the same thing. They did a crappy job. I still believe that thing was something strange.

I think MUFON was WRONG to deliberately set up a hoax for the purposes of fooling Arturo or maybe even entertainment (it WAS a Discovery Channel show).

Hoaxes only discredit MUFON as a legitimate scientific organization, and they may serve to offend legitimate sky watchers to the point that they hesitate to report sightings.

The metallic finish on the balloons was the secret to the rapidly changing and bizarre appearance of the "object" in flight. It helped the illusion that the balloons were beyond the limits of the compact video camera's resolution. Not to mention the unaided eye. Binoculars or a telescope, held steady, are really essential to identifying something clearly at this range. A video camera using *digital* zoom and not steadied by a tripod, wall, car or fencepost is just too amateur for words!! 1/10!
