I don't think Solis was hurt as in "ouch!!!" but he was dazed due to a temporary disconnect from brain to central nervous system as a result of that punch. As a result he fell like he wouldn't have otherwise and the rest is history. He was doing pretty well with his counter punching but didn't hurt Vitali in any way. In an effort to get more leverage and power he decided to come in closer. Good strategy but very dangerous against a fresh opponent

Now that Vitali has chosen to fight again June 4, he should select Evander Holyfield. I was against this before, but there is really noone left and Evander wants one last shot at the title. It would still be a huge fight in the States, Vitali would have a chance to collect another minor belt, both are in their 40's, and there really is noone left who is willing to fight and is any better than Evander. Fighting Evander would also be perfect preparation for Adamek in the future.

@valdesh2001 his fans arent stupid they're just blind with dedication. they really do love him and are just happy he got the win. that being said, no i dont think Vitali looked great, although his punches were clearly stronger than Solis's. Either way if you can't continue to fight, the other guy wins. Just look at Cotto/ Foreman. Same situation, sad, but it happens.

I watched that fight on saturday night and i was leaft thinking how the hell have we came to this in the hw division? i mean if u look back on the history of the hw divsion we have went from classic fights like the rumble in the jungle,thriller in manilla to the young vicious tyson in the 80s then holyfield was involved in a few great fights in the 90s to trash like that on saturday with this boring klitschko in a title fight. must say david haye is the only decent hw boxer worth watching

I like your analysis but having watched it a few times I'm with Vitali catching him on the temple, the moment that connected Solis wobbled and went back. When he got up his body movements showed brain impairment not pain from the leg, he was disorientated. He did OK in the round but Vitali was hunting him down and was as disappointed as Solis that it ended.

I think Solis suffered an injury and it is unfortunate the fight ended this way. I personally would like to see a rematch because it was a competitive fight up until the stoppage. Hopefully Solis' medical examination results will confirm it was a serious injury which will remove the doubt from those who think Solis quit.

@AdamGomez87 You're right. Ali phantom punch, the situation was exactly like like Vitali Solis. Look at the slow mo of Ali Liston. Liston is coming in just like Solis and Ali/Vitali counter with a right at the exact moment when Solis/Liston lead left foot is off the canvas. That means that the weight of both fighters goes into the punch. We saw how Solis's uninjured left leg goes wobbly, but if you look at Ali Liston slowmo you can see how the impact of the punch ripples down Liston's back.
