@nero252 there's a difference between BECOMING famous b/c of bronies and BEING famous because of bronies. Through MLP they got a ton of fans, who like them and support them, and will help them get noticed by bigger companies and thus get people outside the brony community to listen to them. They may get noticed because of MLP, but it's the music that will decide if they stay noticed or not.

Heard them live in Victoria a couple months ago, thought they were very good. Then the other day I heard this song playing in a store and liked it, so I asked the guy working there.

He was like "uhh... someone called 'Hey Ocean'" And I was all "REALLY!? NICE!"

I think it's always a good sign when a band I like manages to impress me without me knowing it's them. It feels validating as a fan. I will definitely be listening more!

Oh, yeah, and MLP is cool too I guess.

@Shaitan051 I kind of feel the same way. I actually watch My Little Pony, but I can separate my feelings for the show from my feelings for this band.

I honestly do think they're an awesome and talented band, and I'm not just saying that because it's Applejack/Rainbow Dash singing.

It may not be that bad that they're getting recognition because of My Little Pony, but it's sort of like a Guitar Hero 3 - Dragonforce thing. Recognition they didn't earn because of one song.
