Hi, Im looking to but a Burton Custom Flying V, i love powder and trees and freeriding, but yet i also love big jumps. Would this be the best board for me?
hey did u guys get a chance to ride the 2012 flying V yet? I don't which to choose between the flying V(2012) or the Burton Hero...mainly wanna stick with park and do some free riding a little but really want a light, flexible, responsive board
Hey what's your thoughts about the Burton Custom Restricted? I hear it's a lot like the flying V but it has "camber humps" which i'm told gives more control at higher speeds while still keeping the playfulness like the flying V.
I'm in the market for a hybrid board quiver killer. The LibTech Attack Banana sounds too good to be true and I've heard great things about NeverSummer's ProtoCT as well.
Any suggestions on the three? I am so stoked to +1up a new board this year.
@IGotsTheDank Gotta say that we never rode the Restricted version. It looks like that "Camber Humps" is a response to the V having a distinct pivot point if you're to light.
But we did ride the Attack Banana and the Proto CT in all conditions. SEE OUR REVIEWS. Both fall in the All-Mtn/Freestyle category. Despite the Vario side-cut vs. Magne-traction, different internal constructions, and bunch of other things, the real difference is going to be the handling. Message us and we'll explain.
@kelkeljai We never rode the camber version of the Custom, and I personally haven't ridden it in over 5 years so I would assume it's changed since then.
The Rome Headline on the other hand is a solid board. It's in a different price range so it's a little hard to compare. I will say the Headline is so predictable that one of our cameramen made it his goto ride. It just turns exactly when and where you expect it, and it holds an edge riding switch on an icy face while trying to get the shot.
@attiria It has an All Mtn flex, so if you're a park rider it'll be stiff when it comes to presses but will be good for jumps. It seems that these days people want softer and softer, this is not that board. If you want a soft Burton look at the Hero or the Whammy Bar.
@BoardInsiders Hey guys! Love your reviews and have been really keeping an eye on this board. I got to demo this board and I loved it, but there was no ice on the mountain that day. I like the idea of the ICS system and the "flying V". Would it be worth looking at other boards that carve ice better? In California, it can go from powder to ice to slush all in one day. I mostly like to find powder stashes, tree glades and black diamonds but would also try brining it into the park. Thank you!

@KdjSoccer If this board sounds like your style (new school all-mtn/freestyle) then it should be towards the top of your list. Looks like Burton has finally settled on the M6 version of The Channel (ICS) so your good for bit.
Most early rise and reverse camber ride a little "looser" when compared to regular camber. Even with FlyingV standing on it raises traditional contact points, that's why it got the bad marks for ice. If you tend to totally detune your board then it should work for you.
Hey! I appreciate the review because i am in the market for my first snowboard...I looked online and still am unsure about all of the lingo. Could you please suggest any kind of board for an intermediate to advanced rider who is 5'7'' and 132Ibs? Also are snowboarding boots like everyday shoes where one would usually go a size up or get a snug fit? Also could you please suggest some bindings and boots? Thanks! I really appreciate your time!
@boardluva108 Judging by your height and weight, I'd buy nothing longer than a 155. Being your first, this Custom would prob do the trick well, as the Flying V shape is very forgiving, making it easier to learn on than a traditional board. For boots, you should go snug, but keep in mind that you will be wearing heavy socks. I usually wear 3 pairs of socks (crazy, i know) and my boots fit snug. Bindings and boots i know nothing about. Go with like a 150-153 so you can do everything on the mt!
Nice, I recognized that place. It's Stevens Pass, where I learned to first snowboard and get my Season Pass to for the past couple years and this year.
what is the best new kill it all deck would you say?
Is this a quiver killer do it all? Im looking at getting a quiver killer do it all, dont mind spending a bit of extra for it. What board would you recommend if not this board? I like park, but also like bombing down steep chutes, icy sometimes, and trees and powder.
I was pretty set on this deck..its all teched out and sound great. Should i just get it or is there a better burton/rome/ride board?
Good, honest review. Good to see. I do find that some reviews of snowboards may not be biased, but they are certainly a little scared to say something negative about the product.

@BoardInsiders Any thoughts on the 2011 Lib Tech Dark Series C2BTX?? I was torn between that and the Custom V. Ended up getting the Dark Series.
