  • you just filled your tank

  • Ya it shifts really nice!

  • Oh no!!! u forgot to turn OD off!! that makes u lose like 50HP!!! come on man! turning your O/D off won't do a damn thing. It is recommended to turn it off because its better for racing, but trust me, it doesnt give u any more power.

  • @Alonshalev for racing? wtf dude . O/D gives you 5th gear in the 4.0 so all all it does it adds a gear. I'm not exactly sure when the 4th gear runs out but I think somewhere in the 100mph range ... so that means you need to get OD on to achieve max speed. Anything below that speed completely doesn't matter.

  • @KarlT01 When u go for top speed yeah u need it, but as long as its 1/4 mile it should be turned off to help u brake faster and it's also better for track racing because the car doesnt go into cruise..

  • @Alonshalev brake faster? It has nothing to do with braking. In 1/4th mile you wont see any difference between OD on or off. OD is just an extra gear (5th for 4.0) .

  • @KarlT01 It does man, it has the same effect as down-shifting (because it is downshifting), down-shifting helps u brake the car without applying the brakes.. Thats what it is meant to, help u to reduce speed in descent zones so u won't need to stress up your brakes too much and such..

  • @Alonshalev I'm not gonna be a dick head but fuck man, go learn how automatic tranny works. When you let off of gas car goes in to "neutral" mode, there is no downshifting and whenever you resume.. in another words hit the gas again, computer selects appropriate gear and off you go. You can select (1) or (2) for engine braking when you going down hill. Its obvious you never drove a car before.

  • @KarlT01 If u have a Mustang try braking from a high speed and then press the O/D button, and IT WILL downshift and slow U down while not pressing the gas because down-shift into 4th gear. I know what youre talking about but it still confirms what I mean, because when u apply the brakes and it goes into neutral mode the rpm's are lower and the car requires more brake, just like manual cars. I have done lots of races and its always easier to stop with the O/D off because it stays in 4th gear.

  • @Alonshalev Well if you're going in 4th gear at almost max.rpm and let off the gas the Mustang will engine break. But that only imply when you going well over 100mph. In 1/4th it doesn't matter as your car will barely get in to 4th gear (if at all) .

  • @KarlT01 U obviously never tried anything like this. First of all, it does reach 4th with the V6 (for a very short time). When i press the O/D while braking after a 1/4 mile race, the car uses it to brake and the rpms go up and i just get engine braking while at the same time i'm also braking with the pedal, that's all. U can say whatever u want, that's just what happens, i'm no expert but i can def tell the engine rpm's go up and the car brakes. lol and u say i never drove a car before..

  • @KarlT01 It doesn't stay in 4th gear the for the whole stopping time, but for some part it stays in 4th and helps me brake better using less pedal stress (rpm's are higher).

  • @KarlT01 It does matter because the 4.0's tranny has been known to accidentaly shift into O/D when it shouldn't. This can blow your transmission up if you are flooring the car and it does this. It has nothing to do with the braking or horsepower, etc. - but just to save the transmission itself from potentially getting ruined.

  • @maxshuty ... lol dude. You're fucking clueless about cars. I don't even know where to start with you noobs. O/D is nothing more than a extra gear (5th for 4.0). So when you going 45mph it will go in to 5th ( its just an example) instead of staying in 4th. When you floor it, it will shift same was as if it was in a O/D but there is an extra gear...for high speed I presume, so you won't end redlining in 4th gear if you want got very fast... Got it? Now STFU kiddo

  • @KarlT01 First things first I'm pretty sure I'm older than you, kiddo. I'm not going to call myself some mechanical prodigy as you seem to profess, however, all I said was that the S197 Mustang's, as seen in the video, have been known to accidentaly shift into O/D or the extra gear. If the vehicle is floored and it shifts into the wrong gear - it will not be good for the transmission at all. Why do you think they gave an O/D on/off option in the first place? It's for different modes of driving.

  • @maxshuty again, you have proven that you know nothing about cars. "O/D or extra gear" lol ... again , O/D is nothing but the 5th gear in a 4.0 . O/D OFF you have 4 gears therefor you will be in high rpm range when cruising on the highway. Pop the O/D on and the 5th gear kicks in , resulting in rpm drop. Overdrive is the final/cruising gear. I'm done with you kiddo.

  • @KarlT01 Lol! YOU were the one who said, and I quote, "O/D is nothing more than a extra gear..." What do you not understand about what I am saying? All that I am saying is this: IN THE 2005-2009 MUSTANGS THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WHERE THEY MAY ACCIDENTALY SHIFT INTO O/D. THIS CAN CAUSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THUS TURNING THE O/D OFF WHEN YOU ARE RACING IS A GOOD IDEA SO THAT IT WONT ACCIDENTALY SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE. I am not arguing wether or not it is/isn't a 5th gear. I know what it is.

  • @maxshuty GOD, you're stupid little fucker. There is no issue with OD you dumb cunt . I don't know where did you hear this, probably from your prepubescent friends. There is no such a thing as accidentally shift in to OD! Do you fucking comprehend? OD off you have 4 gears, OD on you have 5 gears. Simple as that. This isn't fucking rocket science.

  • @KarlT01 You are the biggest moron on all of youtube. It has happened to several people. If you're not old enough to drive then dont be talking about cars.

  • @maxshuty Funny thing is my wife owns 07' 4.0 and I've been driving for almost 20 years, you dick head. You don't know jack about cars and you're clueless about how automatic tranny work. Go and educate yourself before posting dumb comments on youtube.

    Bye.

  • @maxshuty Obviously you're a newbie on Mustangforums. Asking if your 4.0 can stand a chance against 350z... lol. Clueless college boys.

  • @Alonshalev Lmao. You do know that, although uncommon, the S197 4.0's have been known to "accidentaly" shift into overdrive while you floor it. If it accidentaly shifts into O/D while you are flooring it you can ruin your transmission. So just some advice to you if you have an S197 automatic then turn that O/D off when you floor it unless you want to risk blowing your tranny. I dont know how common it is for that to actually happen but I have heard of it happening to several people.

  • You know my friend has the same car, and I am jealous of the automatic transmissions in your cars. the 5 speed shifts so smooth and the power almost never leaves. Great car.

  • OD as in overdrive?
