The reason why regine gathers more haters is because of these videos being compared to a well-known diva plus her fans are posting bad comments against mariah just to say that regine is better. @AStevenson91 No, I don't. Mariah's not the best at belting, nor is her lower register the most resonant (though it IS the most extensive for a female). Her head voice is surpassed by many. Aretha surpasses her in melisma and Barbra surpasses her in technique. Whistle register however, is the one area where she has no equals and no superiors. She is the empress and every other whistler in the game is her subject.
Personally I believe Mariah is the clear winner, vocally and in terms of musicality. I think Regina is an amazing vocalist, but I think Mariah has the better instrument. Also I felt like Regina's head voice was not very pleasant IMO. I feel like Mariah's ability to clearly resonant is better, her register transitions are better and her melisma is clearly superior. but to each his own. :)
Mariah wins because she is a better vocalist. She is a better musician. A better interpreter. Regine simply models her voice after anyone that she pleases. she has no distinct sound besides her annoying technique. Like, who covers a cover? Ex: Regine has sang some of Mariah's greatest covers exactly the way Mariah did. I mean, that totally spells out how bad of an artist Regine is. She may have a range but her voice leaves much to be desired and her techniques as a vocalist are severely flawed.

Mariah maintains fullness and tonal quality throughout her belting range. Head Voice, Mariah has more ability, more control, more stamina, much better dynamics and a more beautiful sound.

Mariah's placement allows for increased resonance and brightness on her upper belts and that goes for studio and live. As for Whitney, if she can't access it consciously, the whistle register isn't a part of her range. Just because you have something doesn't mean you know how to use it.

Personally I believe Mariah is the clear winner, vocally and in terms of musicality. I think Regina is an amazing vocalist, but I think Mariah has the better instrument. Also I felt like Regina's head voice was not very pleasant IMO. Regine simply models her voice after anyone that she pleases. she has no distinct sound besides her annoying technique. Like, who covers a cover? Ex: Regine has sang some of Mariah's greatest covers exactly the way Mariah did. I mean, that totally spells out how bad of an artist Regine is. She may have a range but her voice leaves much to be desired and her techniques as a vocalist are severely flawed.

Mariah's placement allows for increased resonance and brightness on her upper belts and that goes for studio and live. on the lower register, mariah still sounded clear and bright... whereas regine sounded nasal and distorted.
mariah's voice is essentially 100 times more beautiful than regine's.
