Yield signs should have been red to begin with, because Yield means....STOP for oncoming or thru traffic. So they just made it like a stop sign.  I did think of the red one btw.

There are good "software""like "stay away from the edge of the cliff", and bad "software" like "there are a god you should worship". But it requires quite a lot of work to sort out which is good and bad and sorry to say most people just dont have the time or energy to do it and they pass on a lot of bad software to their kids.

that is so trippy! The red sign didn't even come up for me at all, and I'm only 25! I've been taking meditation and self hypnosis classes for a little while and this makes so much sense about needing to consciously 'update the software'. Good stuff!

@ironrose14 What is funny is that the Yellow sign is so ingrained that you see it on book covers, drawings and all sorts of other media because that what people think the yield sign looks like. I once when to a class where the focus was to yield before you speak and the teach pinned little yellow signs on us all. I did not have the heart to tell her that actually they are red. So even if you were born after 1971 you have still been seeing the signs used.

@cosytoesUK Yes of course. We are all programmed in one way or another. There are so many cues in life that we are not aware of that effect how we thing or feel. One simple interaction like someone passing you in the hallway of your office, apartment building or on the street without saying hi can trigger a program of what that means. Something is wrong, they are angry with your or whatever your mind automatically jumps to. It can be a simple as they just did not see you.

LOL, relax jonf13. Yes you have yield signs but they are not difficult to find when you use your Internal Guidance System (IGS). Do the meditation to feel your IGS that is located on this channel. There are 9 videos explaining how this works. When you feel the tight closing feeling you have run across a yield sign, that is a simple way to think about it. All because I have knowledge. of something and not the other does not mean I am "programmed". Much as I like and agree with what this woman is saying, I think the yield sign thing is working on a different principle. Many of us, judging from the comments, and my own experience, were born after the change in sign design. I think that yellow comes up first, because that is the collor of the yield traffic light, something we encounter far more, on average, than yield signs. :)

Great vid. However, I think the computer analogy may not hold, although for lack of a better analogy it will do. Why? John searle, in his book "introduction to the philosophy of mind" severly discredits the idea that the brain us the software and the mind the hardware. Look up the Chinese room experiment that he wrote. Albeit, the discrediting is done towards a specific concept.

Zen this is one of my favorite ways you explain how the brain keeps information ingrained in it and how even if things change it doesn't always adopt the change. Only repitition of new practices can develop that awareness.

scary to think of how many yield signs may be stuck in there!!! i think the light bulb of consciousness goes on when we get hit over the head frequently enough by a certain issue, i.e. pain. yeah! fun! i did the IGS video again almost a year after hearing about your work and this time it worked. isolating the thought seems to be pretty key...thanks for the video, I will "tweet" it out! ;-)
