@keitsumi Honestly the first half of the series kinda bored me, but I liked the second half. Overall I would say it was alright, if nothing else it was thought provoking. As long as you know this one spoiler about lain from the start everything kinda makes more sense.
@wdbisl The series works a lot better on understanding on a rewatch due to having that spoiler given to you near the last few episodes. I will say you shouldn't be scared. Honestly I was the same as you and kept putting it off, but then I watched it. I will say it wasn't what I expected.
who needs shrooms when you've got LAIN! seriously, its more trippy than pink floyd, fear and loathing in las vagas, and tigers blood (i'me looking at you charlie) COMBINED! sure chuck norris pushes down the earth when he dose a push up, but lain can destroy it it by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Wow I'm amazed, only because of the reminder of the original E-mail you gave (the God thing) I have understood the plot though I still personally wouldn't recomend Lain and would have far prefered it as a novel though still, thanks for the reminder.
i really like this anime. it comments on the reprocautions of spending time on the internet; how it blurs the line between real life and virtual life. the main story is about Lain a girl who is going through adulthood, coping with her superficial family, thoughts about loneliness, and traumatic suidice of her classmate and how depeding on the internet for help with those problems can affect you. meanwhile in the bakground, it qustions how far we'll go for happness or a high thru technology.
well thats the way i saw the anime, plot not so complicated i guess, just heavy stuff and delusional people; good morals to be learned from this series.
Serial Experiments Lain is hard to relate towards. It pushes you away expecting you to leave but in the same way a 'creepypasta' or an H.P. Lovecraft protagonist tells it's readers to shove off also leads to its share of seekers. Thanks to SEL's limited print run it's viewers feel special that they watched something that could have been forgotten. Everyone who has watched Lain and loved Lain has a story why they love Lain and how they acquired it. This anime needs more love.
I want to learn Japanese, not because it will ever be usefull, but because I'm convinced this show is full to the brim with Japanese language puns, if not Japanese-on-English-on-BASIC-on-meth puns, that are essential to the plot in some way. The anime takes up far more time than the time spent VIEWING it, interpreting what every minute detail means.
The opening is from a band called BoA, and they are the shit. But seriously though, Duvet is awesome but there best work (in my opinion of course) is Get There. One of the deepest songs I've ever heard, it also the song for a music video of one of the greatest animated series of all time, The Maxx. b^-^d
I love Serial Experiments Lain! I want Funimation to pick it up, and make sure that more people are able to see it. Sure it might only be a cult fallowing, but for those of us who love mind F's, this show is awesome and needs to be seen!
nice dude, evangelion posters and final fantasy posters! This has to be one of the most legit makeovers for a room that I have ever seen. Serial experiments Lain honestly blew me the heck away. I didn't think it would ever have ended up that way and it just absolutely impressed me. Most people probably wouldn't understand it and he is absolutely right there; however, if you are willing to take time and think about it then it would be an outstanding investment to watch this show.
Wow, that makes me really happy that I found a copy of Vol. 3 for sale at FYE. Only 10 bucks too. Btw Ark I can't seem to find this video on the new version of DesuDes. I looked to watch it there but couldn't find it even with a search.
@grimwest1222 WIth the exception of this being good. The end episodes of EVA were the shows low point, that's why they had to make movies to explain them, that and their lack of money meaning they had to resort to recycling footage.
@JSpark135 i never even played ff7 and i no that is the biggest !!!OH MY FUCKING GOD I REALLY WONT TO KILL THE FUCK OF THAT BASTARD !!! in gaming i need 2 play that game
@ninjaman95 You forgot to add that she also runs it using 3 monitors, each with it's own separate version of the game (Same computer though) and still has enough power left over for a game of solitaire.
Your electronic noise intro scared my cat, now she have pointedly turned away from the computer. I do not think she like your review. :P I like it however.
I have never been so confused and yet so completely captivated by a show as with Lein.
God this is that one show I'm so scared to watch. I'm afraid that I might go insane from watching this show. orz

And then FUNimation came to the Internet and said, "We've license rescued Lain, we're just waiting on materials due to the merger in Japan."
