I was at this game and it was a rough journey back to london, it showed Borota to be what he was a lunatic, if you read the book "celery" he was drunk when he walked out for this game.
Football definitely must've been better in those days before the rich foreign owners came along with their multimillion/billions & turning it into an expensive game of chess.
I remember this last it was last year, Got escorted straight to the ground, kept in for an hour afterwards and escorted straight back again, had to change trains in Sheffield and locked in the station.
I can remember when Rotherham produced a similar result against against Liverpool in the late 50s/early 60s in the old second div. I don't suppose anybosdy has any pics or info on that?
what rotherham can do within a few years i wish we had still got these players now we would win all the times and i wish we would go back to millmoor :)
We had a penalty in the second half. Bumstead took it and it was saved. The ref gave us a second chance as he was probably feeling sorry for us by then so he said the Rotherham keeper moved. And what happened, yep, same player and we missed it again. Crazy but I preferred this team to the current team. Maybe I felt happier supporting a team who all knew the significance of Churchills "No surrender" and "glorious few" speeches. Or maybe I just liked being able to pronounce their names :-)
I went. I was ever present home and away with Chelsea from 1979-1983 which includes our worst 3 league finishes in history. Of this match..on the Monday the team, myself and another supporter were due to fly out to The Sudan for 2 friendlies. The team had their jabs on the Friday and this made them weary and sleepy. Study the film and you will see what I mean. No excuses for our 1-4 4-1 home defeat to Rotherham that season. The Sudan trip was called off when civil war broke out on the Sunday!
What a difference a few years make eh? Absolutely Brilliant!! I s'pose you could call it the 'inbetween Years'. I was there and not likely to forget it
fern was bout 32 / 33 I think, looked a lot older!. He wo quite skillful as well not just all headers. Here's one for u - why dont you see balding footballers any more??
just a bit of harmless rivalry and banter mate, no harm or offence intended, have a good one, looks like you guys are gonna beat the drop at the very least and we'll hopefully be out of the doldrums soon
Classic! :)

I was there as a Chelsea fan all those years ago . No drink, walked by the police straight to the ground, the station seemed to be so very close!
Just a complete disaster from start to finish that day,but I'm still a true blue.
Next stop semi v A.Villa, Nothing against Rotherham at all but how things have changed. These type of games shape a true fan!

Great player Rodney Fern. Better than Ronnie Moore IMHO.

Nice one, most Chelsea fans these days will probably never even heard of Rotherham Utd, but this wasn't that long ago...
BTW, fair play to Mark Robins, he has done a great job there.

Yes, all you Chelsea wannabes, there was a time your team were rubbish - and here's the proof.

last team to put 6 past chelsea i do beleive?! up the millers!!
easytiger6969 3 years ago
Nonsense.... Forest put 6 past us in '86, then 7 past us in about '91.
The 4-1 home defeat that year was more painful.
