  • I am 15 years old, i am hopefully getting a 2003 honda shadow 750 this spring, i have riddin in the past a honda 250x as my first bike, moved up to a kx250f i am 6'2 but do i really need forward controls and different handlebars? is it really that uncomfortable? and i dont see any front blinkers in the clip, did u take them off?

  • @BigLure12 at your height, you will definitely want forward controls.. Just my opinion. You will know when you ride the bike. Mid controls on a cruiser versus mid controls on a dual sport bike are a totally different kind of ride. If you look closely under the bottom triple tree there is a small LED strip similar to what is under the rear fender. I bought these off of a guy who used to make them. Not sure if he still does or not. Eventually I did remove the front blinker strip as well

  • how would you rate this bike for a young 16 year old man, I have the money iv saved up and I'm thinking of buying one, I'm a rather big dude standing at 6'1 and im sure i could handle the weight of the bike but yea, any tips you have for me? Would be greatly appreciated! Also what sort of Gas milage do you get with this bike?

  • @JackyswaTv I would say this is a good first bike. Keeping this in mind, if you have NEVER ridden any type of motorcycle, I would advise getting used to riding something a little lighter at least a few times, just to get the hang of it. As far as your body type, you probably would want to look at getting some forward controls, and different handlebars. I am 5 10 and was cramped a bit until I did this. I typically get between 40-50 MPG. And actually just sold the bike this week.

  • @Kizzletruck i ride dirt bikes a 175 cc honda dirt bike 5 speed, so that kinda helps alittle id guess? and if you dont mind me asking why u sold the bike? any riding reasons or in that subject. Also could i get those changes at a dealer ship if i buy a bike from a dealer ship or could i do them myself rather easy(be in mind i work on rather old cars and have some smarts with that stuff) and Thanks so much for your help!

  • @JackyswaTv You should be ok if you have some mechanical knowledge. I am sure you could pay the dealer to do it, but you are going to pay through the nose. I have done everything to this bike myself. What better way to learn than to teach yourself? If you have a decent set of tools and some patience, get after it! I sold the bike because I lost my job. My next bike will be a Harley, most likely a Fatboy. You can always check out the shadowriders website

  • @Kizzletruck I'm really sorry to hear you lost your job, I hope you can find a new one soon wish you luck! and I never knew there was a websight I'll be sure to cheak it out and find it thank you so much for your help means a lot!

  • Can these Honda Shadow Spirit VT750DC motorcycles sit at idle for a long time in lots of several consecutive stop light sections without overheating? Also, will the engine not overheat in very slow traffic, lasting hours, where air doesn't go through the radiator?

  • @ussprinceton2004 I believe they do pretty well with sitting in traffic and the heat. I have never had mine over heat and have sat in traffic on a hot day plenty of times. They do have a cooling fan behind the radiator that will kick on when it is getting hot. Mine has never kicked on so I think that I can safely say yes, they do well.

  • @Kizzletruck ah, ok, thanks for the reply.

  • @ussprinceton2004 Hey man, I own a 07' Shadow Spirit as well, and in response to your comment my bike has never over heated but my fan has come on, but it quickly cooled it back down.

  • Why do ppl post these silly videos? Great video of a bike doing nothing

  • @Campdoofus If you don't enjoy it, move along to another video.

  • nice blub blub blub... i would like to find the shaft drive version!!

  • I take it this is a DC (as opposed to a C2) variant. IMNSHO they should've never quit making this bike.

  • @thespeez Yes, it is a DC. I wanted this version so I could play with the gearing, and am glad I got it. I agree that they never should have stopped making it.

  • @Kizzletruck - ...Especially when you consider that the C2 is much more cramped than the DC for someone my size (5'10" with a 32" inseam). It seems like Honda has limited its 750 line to just a few bikes that are meant for short-inseamed riders. The only exception to that would probably be the RS, but there were some things on it that should've been executed better. As good as it might be, all it does the Triumph Bonneville seems to do better...with less money!

  • I'm 6,2, is that too tall to be confortable on a standard vt750dc you think?

  • @nekkr0 I would probably get some forward controls for sure. I am 5'10" and have 4" forwards controls. I probably could have gone with 5". You will probably want 6" forwards if you want to have that stretched out feeling. Also, when I put on the ape hangers, it alleviated a lot of my neck pain because I was not leaning forward and down to grab the stock drag bars that come on the bike. Now my arms are just barely above shoulder height and I can lean back.

  • The price for a Shadow seems so low for the "performance" that i hear you get. Do they just not last as long as the Yamaha V Star, or the Kawasaki Vulcan? I've been a fan of Honda dirt bikes and ATV's for years, so i'm looking into getting a shadow. thanks

  • @PS3andPCgamereviews They are a very decent bike for the price. I have not had a single trouble with mine, and have got over 10,000 miles on it. They are not the world's quickest bike, but they can keep up with almost any other cruiser out there.. Switching to a smaller rear sprocket will help with the "searching for 6th" that many Shadow owners have.

  • Are Shadows a good bike for a new rider? I don't really want a crotch rocket :l

  • @Jackd91 Definitely great first bikes. I had ridden a couple bikes before but never owned one and am way happy about this bike as a first purchase. Good luck!

  • Sick machine... damn that's sick! That shit has some serious sound. Congrats on the ownership.

  • @sidebander Thanks man!

  • nice!

  • @harleymaori Thanks man! Check out my other vids!

  • hey is that just a harley horn cover or aftermarket? please i need to know

  • @pinkdonkeycorn Yes, It is a complete Harley Dyna horn assembly. I used the mount that the small chrome plastic side cover originally mounted to with a rubber bushing behind the horn and lock-tite on the screw.

  • @Kizzletruck how did you wire it? did you jus cut the old wires and splice the new ones?

  • @Kizzletruck 2 more questions, how did you wire the horn, and what about the choke knob??

  • @Kizzletruck 2 more questions, how did ;you wire it, and what about the choke knob

  • @Kizzletruck sorry, my computer is being weird and i prob already asked this but what about the choke knob

  • @pinkdonkeycorn I just used the factory wires from the horn. The Harley horn is the same two wire power/ground system. I just had to extend the wires a little bit. The choke knob is a little more difficult to get at, but it is still functional, and with the rubber bushing behind the horn there is some flex in the horn.

  • im curious... how much did the mods cost?

  • @bigbradford69 : Most of the mods came from Billski182dotcom.

  • Nice!

  • i could listen to that idle all day

  • sounds fantastic! love the low idle speed, did the same on my '05 shadow spirit. Do you like the forward controls more than stock?

  • Love the forward controls... Check out some of my other vids. I just posted a new video of it after this past winters mods.. I get bored easy-at least the paint is cheap...!

  • I came back today, for that sound. COOL STUFF

  • Just posted a vid of the bobber contruction. Check it out. I put a little rev on it too. Its inside my garage but still sounds good

  • What rpm is that??? Just curious

  • Don't have a clue. I don't have a tachometer on it... They don't come with one stock and I have never put an aftermarket one on.

  • oh yes, that`s what i`m talking about. well done my friend!

  • Thanks man. Wait til you see the new and improved bobber. Got bored again over the winter and decided to get a little crazy in the garage.

  • I think out of all of the videos I've seen so far, your bike has the cleanest, smoothest idle. I love it. x3 five stars

  • Thanks man. Stay tuned as the bobber build is almost complete. Once we get out of the - 10* F I will get the bike out of the garage. Currently just waiting on clutch, brake, and throttle cables.

  • Nice Job. :)

  • Thanks dude!

  • that thing sounds great, do they sound like that stock ? i am about to get a used shadow, and I just want to know what it sounds like. Or is this one modded ?

  • This bike does have an OK sound stock, but it is nothing compared to this. I have a set of Cobra Drag pipes on this bike with a stage 1 jet kit to give it the sound and a little extra power (not much). Not running any baffles in the pipes. I did turn the idle down just a hair too.

  • I have the same pipes too, without baffles. I haven't bought a cobra stage 1 kit yet. Did you notice anything significant after your kit? I adjusted my mixture screws and it runs great with no popping. Just wondering. Also, did you mess with the idle? Has a nice slow idle..my bikes idles way faster(yes the choke is off) ha. Nice ride!

  • You know, to be honest, I installed the pipes and jet kit before I even rode the bike. Took it out of the dealer, into a trailer, back to the shop, and off came the stock pipes and on went the new ones and jet kit... Didn't even hear it until they were on. I did turn the idle down some. Just like the sound of a slow running machine. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice, you never had to experience the horror of that stock exhaust. If you can comment or message me on how to turn down my idle that would be great. I want to think its a screw. I have drilled into my carb and adjusted my air/fuel screws so I dont think I will have a problem. We have the same bike and pipes but I like your slower idle sound. thanks.

  • Yeah. I wanted to ditch that system right away. All you have to do to turn the idle down is, if you look where your choke is, up and to the left you will see a small, black corrugated turn knob. Turn it one way, it will increase your idle speed, the other will decrease it. EZ to do while running. If it's too low then the engine will die when letting off when coming to a stop. I usually do it until this happens, then open it back up just a tiny bit at a time until it stops dying. Trial & error.

  • Wow, thanks. Just went out and did it. Easy, i'm suprised I never saw the switch before. Sounds better now not idling so high. Have you ever ran with your baffles? People are giving me a hard time about not having baffles saying i'm ruining stuff and losing power, even though it runs fine. I put the baffles in one time and I could barely hear the engine running ha. Sound so much better with them out.

  • Yeah. Easy fix. I have never ran with baffles. Never wanted to. I just feel sorry for the yuppie in the convertible LeBaron who is riding down the highway next to me!

  • Nice bike man, and nice sound, but dont you get irritated with sound of straight pipes after long rides. They are loud as hell.

  • Thanks man. Pipes don't really bother me much when I am riding. It's either that or a loud stereo in the truck... Ha ha! I'll probably pay for it when I am older, but I am having fun with it.

  • NICE bike man

  • Thanks bro. Stay tuned for the completion of round 2 of the bobber build!

  • I almost started dancing man. Beautiful!

  • Thanks! If I get anything else done to it I will put another vid up.

  • Ahh, now THAT'S music ... nice bike, all the way. Wish you'd let one of your buds twist the throttle and make it go vroom-vroom, bet that sounds good too.

  • I'll have to try to get a video of that. I guess I can say I never really had the urge to crack it when I wasn't on it! HA HA

  • amazing sound

  • Thanks bro. Stay tuned for the completion of round 2 of the bobber build!

  • You know if they make these pipes for a Harley? Nice rumble you got there, bro.

  • what kind of side mount you got there? And where did you get that nice rear brake strip? Those are nice! Thanks!

  • Nice work so far. I am in the middle of customizing my bike a little more. I would replace the radiator cover with a chrome one. I just put one on my Spirit 750 and it looks great.

  • I thought about the radiator cover. I kind of like the way the black one blends in with the frame. Can't tell it is there. I was going to strip everything out of the frame and paint the frame and swing arm, but after I got to tearing it down. There was just too much electrical and that so I figured nah...

  • Was it difficult to install the Brake LED's. I'm think about doing the side mount and LED's like yours. The back plate mount really takes away from the bike.

  • Not too bad. The most difficult part was troubleshooting. (Mainly because I thought I bought the run/turn front signals, but actually only had the turn signals). But I got it figured out. I think it was worth it. Can't see them much in the day, but I always use hand signals anyways.

  • awesome
