His legs are too close together, if he was lifting any kind of weight he'd be very unbalanced. Wider leg stance also stops the knees buckling inwards, which is bad for them. Also, his back is only straight for about one second at 1:08, then he starts looking down which is fucking terrible as it curves the top of the back.
If you're gonna make an instruction video, do it properly. Maybe he should've tried actually lifting some weights beforehand. His technique is pretty poor.

@AutumnPolitics If you don't understand why, maybe you should look up what each exercise does because they are not even CLOSE to working the same muscles...
Wtf this guy is an idiot, For hypertrophy its lower weight with high reps and a beginner should do less reps so his form doesnt get fucked up. Also this guy doesnt even know how to do a barbell row. Look up starting strength ppl and educate urselves.
hey genius xilliun this is how to spell "weight" not wait... it sounds the same but it isn't... maybe you should take up a 5th grade spelling class and not "weight" lifting...
@MrDvst8n Perhaps he is actually saying "wait." As in, "Building muscle or hypertrophy with lower reps and higher... Wait? Hang on, what?" Notice his ability to properly spell weight in the following sentence.
@xilliun Optimal hypertrophic range for the experienced is 8-12 reps, which is "lower" than what he suggested for beginners. He said nothing wrong. High reps will help with muscle endurance, motor neurons, tendon strength, vascularity, that sort of thing, not hypertrophy (unless you're a beginner). Less than 8 rep range will help with raw strength true, but isn't the best for building muscle size either.

I did this excercise using too much weight and without using a belt either(being cocky) about 8 months ago and only about a fortnight ago was i able to lift weights properly with minimal discomfort. The past 8 months ive wrapped my belt extra tight and the amount of heat rub ive gone through is unbelievable.

To all the Form police, go and fcuk yourselves. you can go ahead and be form crazy all you want, then you can end up looking like mr manny castro here with his wonderful physique. it takes hardcore blood and guts to play with the big boys, if you're afraid of putting your body to strain, go and jump around on some exercise balls or do those little pink dumbbells
I've been saying the same thing for almost 20 years! To handle real weight and build real muscle mass, you have to cheat. That doesn't mean throwing the weights without control. When I train, I may use cheating, but I'm always in control. And one more thing is why the hell does everyone nowadays start their bent rows so high? Your upper body should be almost parallel to the floor in the start and can raise up a bit during your rep. Better power and lat involvement.
Doing this workout, like this is how I put my back out... May I advise you to wear a weightlifting belt and lay your chest on a bench at 45 degrees... Then the tension in your back though still there is lessened by the bench :-D
Fair point if you are doing massive amounts of weight, there is a danger of hurting your back. A fun variation is a bench pull, where you lie on an elevated horizontal bench and pull in. This position means you can achieve a straight pull to the chest, and completely isolates the back and triceps.
I'd say you do have to be good at something to be a great teacher, but you don't necessarily have to take something to the extreme, like you can be knowledgeable about training, but not be a bodybuilder
How do you get the back parallel to ground without falling forward? I'm not trying to be facetious, I'm actually asking 'cause at the moment I'm just starting to get into bodybuilding.
It takes practice to get your back parallel while lifting, as I had the same feeling of 'I'm falling over' when I began. The key is obviously to begin with very light weights and then gradually increase as you feel comfortable.
I also found out that wearing a weight-training belt helps support the lower back better. This exercise can hurt the lower back if not done properly.
he is wrong in that you should bring it to your naval or just above. To get the target area you need to bring it closer to your chest.. as you can see, it's the opposite of a bench press
Its not how I would do rows either but his method IS a viable alternative to the norm, his action will hit the lower lats and rhomboids, whether he realises that is another question.

theres a pretty big difference... google the two... its too hard to describe exactly the difference. dead lifts hits lower back and hamstrings while this hits lower back in a different way and upper back.

I agree with you, I just said you can get big with bad form. You'll just end up injuring yourself. I don't remember who I was replying to, but what I meant is that just because someone is big it doesn't mean they have good form.
