  • Have you ever done it with out taking the engine off the frame? Is is necessary to remove it??

  • @mason0444 I've done it that way before. The only thing is you'll need to remove the front wheel to get the cylinder head off the studs.

  • @TheAlexManVideos Thanks for the response, man. I'm putting mine in today. You rock for posting all the videos about the clutch and oil pump too. Wish me luck!

  • @TheAlexManVideos how often have u ever seen a cracked head b\c im not shur but it runs great untill it get hot then it just dies and then nothing ?? =3-

  • @mason0444 yes it is

  • From belgium, I would do my best to express myself. I have a little question, it's the original carburator, shen wei 20mm? Have you change something in the carb? And what kinf of CDI is it? The Tb CDI or an other like a takegawa ?

  • you make this look so easy..

  • When i try to remove the cam sprocket, i just turn over the engine?

I dont have a drill screwdriver (bad english:D)..

    What to do?!

  • it is a 52mm piston with what mm crankshaft?

  • @LAGARAS54 It's a stock stroke crank in this video, 41.4mm. But I have since upgraded to a 51mm stroked crank.

  • How'd you learn to do all this?

  • how easy is it to put a 4valve head on an engine like this but with a big bore kit like 110cc or 150cc

  • IS THIS 3V

  • @ilovemetaalll Thats impossible on a 50' style motor.

  • Where did you get that head gasket from?

  • goodevening. in 8:50 you say how many feet pounds you should screw the main bolts. how many did you mention?another question i have a anf 125 honda (innova) how many pounds shall i screw the same bolts. i will use the same number of pounds?because i don't have a service manual.and finally how much space shall i leave to the compression valve and to exhaust valve.thank you.

  • where did you get the pm cam cover

  • can i know what is the size of the bore/piston that you installed?

  • @Mede7912 52mm

  • man where you by thet kit pliz ansver me

  • Pretty helpful. Thanks!

  • is the installation of the hv op simple where you didn't have to show it?

  • If I may give a constructive commentary; next time, make the video and afterwards add your audio. Or just record your audio again, then we don't have the noises from falling parts, you can straighten up your mistakes and it will be easier to follow.

    Great video though!

  • 1:37 what exactly is in that red like bottle?

  • Are you using Gasket Sealant?

  • killa video. where do i get a kit for my 91 z50rh. i think the clutch is siezed so i might as well rebuild it. got any hints for me. cheers

  • hey, im wanting to buy and install a big bore kit for a crf50 and from your video i dont think im gunna be able to do it myself so i was wonderin how much it would cost if i got a dealership or mechanic to install it, thanks

  • Hi Alex quick question...I have a crf 70cc and was going to install a big bore kit but i can get a 125cc or larger engine with same bolt pettern for a little more money..am i better off with the big bore or the cubes? Is it hard swapping bigger engines? What do you recommend?thnx 4 any help

  • hi mate how do i go about installing a tb 88 kit with an inner rotor, i mean getting tdc as it has no tdc markings on it please help man im stuck big time i just wanna ride it now

  • Thanks, sounds like the pump is a good investment. Do I need a special tool to take apart the clutch to get the pump in - I am putting in HD clutch springs too. Thanks!

  • Is a high flow oil pump necessary with an 88 cc bore kit?

  • @StompedAgain I would recommend it on ANY engine. The stock one is tiny. The HV oil pump's impeller is between 2 and 3 times as wide and delivers between 2 and 3 times as much oil. But no, it's not required. It will run without it. I just won't get as much oil to the top end.

  • @StompedAgain Hey alex I just installed the kit and now my bike wont start im getting spark and fuel I got the race head and carb and it started for about 30 seconds reved real high then dies and I cant get it to start can you HELP..Thanks

  • No.

  • Hey there great video I used to intall my 88 kit thanks

Had a quick question is it notmal to have a this coat of oil in the cylinder bore?

I notice the bore was a little wet with oil on disablement of a kit that had 30 minutes run time?

I did space the rings correctly

    Thanks

    Mike

  • I don't think it's a problem if it's light.

  • @TheAlexManVideos Ah ok thanks again Alex

  • Do you have to drill the hole for the oil pump on the newer model xr and crf 50s?

  • Yes.

  • How do you make sure the cam timing is correct?

  • Watch my video on how to set cam timing.

  • Hey i just got the TB 88 kit with Rh and carb could you tell me how many running hours i need to break in the engine reply please.

  • I just do some easy trail riding to break in my motors. An hour or two will do. Change the oil when you are done. Break in is a very controversial topic. This is just my way, there are thousands of other methods.

  • thanks

  • If I have 88cc kit(piston + cylinder) will I need a new cam? Or Can I use the stock? Thaks

  • If you are using the stock head, then the stock cam will work fine.

  • how do you put in the rockers?

  • Hold the rocker arms in place and then slide the rocker shaft in from the clutch side of the head. The right side head cover must be off. The cylinder studs hold them in once the head is installed.

  • sorry to ask a lot of q's but is that the same botom end from the first motor you took a part? if not could you use the old botom end

  • The motor that was taken apart is different from the engine assembled. I didn't have any footage of taking apart the motor I built up so I used some old video. The process is exactly the same. Honda Trail Bikes makes kits for every year Z/XR/CRF50.

  • would this motor fit on a 72 z 50? or are there kits for every bike and where did you get if from, thanks

  • All Z/XR/CRF50 motors will BOLT INTO the frame but the electronics are different. Honda Trail Bikes makes kits for every year Z50A/R and also for all the XR/CRF50's.

  • can you make a video to show how to adjust points?

  • I will sometime soon, I just have a lot of projects going on at the moment so it is hard to find time to make videos.

  • u should really use some gasket sealer on those paper gaskets, makes work alot better

  • Never had a problem with new gaskets on a clean surface. All my issues are my fault for re-using gaskets to save money.

  • question:what big bore kit should i get from any website

    i have a ssr 110cc

but its really a 108 or 108cc engine

  • I don't work on Chinese engines. Ask somebody else.

  • ohh but they are the same thing huh

  • Nope. They are not the same. Many differences and too many inconsistencies. I don't deal with Chinese engines. I never have.

  • ok thanks for the info man !!

  • could you please make a video describing how to install hi/vol oil pump!

  • hi alex

put all my parts on all went well

tho havin bit of trouble puttin the cable on the clutch? any tips wen i put it on the clutch arm and the go to put it on the leaver no enought come out to go on the lever.

also i was wondering if u wud hav any old crf 50 or xr or any old honda 50 motors running or broken that you wud wanna sell me????

    thanks

  • Make sure you adjust all the linkages to have the most free play. Then adjust again for correct free play after the lever is installed. I have no motors for sale.

  • Hey, this kit was supposed to come with a HC piston right? If so, why don;t i have a HC gasket, the copper one, like you have, or is that just your own gasket?

  • The piston is HC even with the paper and metal layered gasket in the kit. I bought the thinner copper gasket from another vendor to up the compression even more. I found that it never sealed. I always had oil leaking out the bottom of the cylinder onto the skidplate. Hopefully you have better luck if you try.

  • i think ill stick to the gasket it came with.. ;D

  • That's what I did. I tried silicone sealant and copper spray and neither one worked. Now I use the paper and metal layered gasket with no leaks.

  • hi the alexmanvideos

lol iv got tb 88cc kit with 20mm carb kit. and tb manuel clutch kit sittin in my room and u hav just gave me the confidence to put it on.

and tell me what u think about the clutch kit iv noticed u have it on 1 of your bike ???????

    thankyou heapppss!!!

  • Glad to know I helped. As for the manual clutch, you'll like it a lot. It's easy to install, and once you have it, you can get better starts off the line and also slip it if necessary like out of turns and such. Definitely a worth-while upgrade.

  • hey, i just installed a 88 kit race head. isnt working right tho. i ordered a new 20mm carb from tb and it helped. but i might have put the cam in backwards. i mean like rolled in the wrong way. could that be the problem or could my bearings on the bottom end be done?

  • Be more descriptive. "It isn't working right" doesn't mean anything.

  • It feels like nothing has happened since i put the kit in. no speed difference. just louder. not real torque either.

  • Make sure the cam timing is set correctly. If you think that's what it is then go and fix it. I have a video specifically about how to set the cam timing.

  • i checked it and its fine. the only thing i can think of is that the bearings in the bottom end are shot. i know my valves are a lil off. i ordered a set of feeler gauges with the right time sizes.

  • If the valves are really far off, that might cause the problems you are having due to lack of compression. If the bearings are bad it might run rough but it wouldn't be so bad as to make an 88 feel like a stocker. My suggestion is to adjust the valves and see what happens. If they are too tight the valves will hang open and cause low compression and power loss.

  • yea. i'll try that when i get the feel gauges and get back to you.

  • and bro where did you get that dressup kit from

  • Made it myself. Under the paint is stock Honda covers.

  • very nice is it just paint or powdercoated. and what were the feelers for

  • High temp spray paint. Feelers are for setting valve tappet clearance.

  • thanks alot bro you helped alot keep up the good work did the paint ever ware off of fade for u>?

  • Still looks good today. Heat hasn't affected it. I've raced 3 or 4 times hard and it got hot, also numerous rides around the neighborhood. Still looks good.

  • and how far do you drill that 2mm hole

  • you should have the oil pump off when you drill the hole. You will be able to see into the side where the pump output goes to the oil jet. It's only about 1/4 inch of metal. You will be able to see it if you have the pump off. I plan to make a video next time I have a motor apart or a new motor to work on.

  • at 6:20 whats suppose to line up.. bro ur a genious

  • The holes in the cam sprocket with the threads in the camshaft.

  • dude your an expert you fucking rock

  • Who cares about vid quality. The vids really are awesome either way. Keep it up man, I plan to stay in tune.

  • Do you plan on ever doing a stroker crank on this bike? That would be a great vid

  • Actually working out a package deal with a vendor right now on a stroker crank. A 51mm crank will bring me out to 108cc of fury! Plan to make a video of that too. Hopefully I'll have my good camera working by then.

  • Any idea how much engine hp this kit puts out? What about rear wheel hp on that z50?

  • I have never had it dyno'd so I can't say accurately. I have heard claims of 7 or 8 hp.

  • I just watched the whole video and its very helpful . I would like to say when installing the cam , you should put a little oil or assembly lube on the cam lobes and also on the cam bearing before inserting it into the head . And also people need to remember to tighten the cylinder and cylinder head anchor bolts . In the vid you only showed them being hand tightened . Great vid . 5 stars .

  • Hey nice vid . . Where did you get the pm cam cover ? Thats cool . You know somebody posted it over there for you .

  • I painted it myself.

  • WAit.. why is the rocker head cover arrow have to be down? I took mine off to polish it and i left it pointing up.. also noticed a tiny oil leakage... TIME TO PUT IT RIGHT SIDE UP! LOL!

  • It shouldn't even fit if the arrow points up. The stud pattern is not a rectangle. The studs are staggered. The oil leak is not related to the rocker cover being upsidedown.

  • Weird... it still fit. It was probably cause of the copper washer being on the top right instead of the bottom left... lol.

  • Yes, probably.

  • Do you have to take the clutch off to drill the hole for the high volume oil pump?

  • No, but you need to take it off to get all the metal shavings out and put the HV oil pump on.

  • and great vid this is a god send for some.

  • also thread sealer on the cam bolts

  • Just say don't drill that oil hole unless you have the case split so you can clean out the shavings. I know there is some idiot some where that would actually try that. not to sound like a dick or anything.

  • do you now you to adjust pointers on atc 70?

  • Check the service manual.

  • WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR PARTS FROM?

  • AHP, TB, CHP, DrATV.

  • does this kit come with instructions?

  • Nope, that's why I made this video.

  • thank you sooo much. i have this exact kit on the way and this will be very helpful

  • gr8 vid

  • Great work! The only thing I would have added is the ring installation on the piston.

  • If you can't install rings, then you probably shouldn't be installing this kit, but yes, it might have been useful information.

  • Comment removed

  • A lot of novice backyard mechanics will be using your video as a guide. Installing rings is not hard but it also can be easily screwed up by not spacing the gaps or switching upper comp ring for lower -- details that can be easily overlooked.

Again, I want to say thanks for putting out great work!

  • your video's are honestly amazing :)
