I seriously hope you called an exterminator after that. If there are that many winged termites emerging so close to your house, then you're probably facing a major infestation.

I rooted for the ants the whole time. I know ants can be a pest too, but If I had to choose I'd much rather have them than termites. Most ants are just there to eat your food, not tear your house down. My parents' house had a termite infestation a few years ago, and it's horrible.

One time i dropped a big ant into a colony of smaller ants, i watched what they did. One of the main things i noticed is that first, a worker came up and bit the ant, i guess attracting soldiers since a whole bunch of other ants came running out. they surrounded it and began to bite and pull on it's legs until it could no longer use them. Then they dragged the ant, still alive, into the nest.

Actually, it's very easy to tell. Look at the winged insects bellies. You can see the segments. That means they're termites.

That was more than a bit fucked up. First thing the ants went for was the wings... smart, in a cruel way.

That was the first thing they did. Once the wings are gone they are destined to be food for the winter. In the morning I opened the sliding door and the wind blew about 100 of the wings into the house. Was a chilling reminder of those that lost thier lives. Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated :)
