Best game i had was that i was playing Navarra and istarted conlonzing quickly thanks to portugal. So i held all of the cherokee but then aragon annexed my one and only core provaince. In the next 100 years i was able to colonize all of amerciea. From one tiny nation to controlling all of amerciea , north , south and canada.
@GoguMacaroana Whit the Byzantine empire you need only two things, 1 a strong navy 2 make sure that they´re troops are in asia an blok the strait of dardanelos
@duartesilvaaa1 :) Yes ... but it is quite hard to have enough money to sustain a bigger fleet that the ottos + an army and avoid raising inflation. After that it is hard to fight with the Bosnian and Serbian with only 4 regiments.
@GoguMacaroana simple, start conquering asian core provinces before they ally themselvs whit the otomans, anex also chipre and strat revolts in morea and naxos so that the rebels join you
@sickel101 In what game my friend? In my Divine Wind game Byzantine has only Thrace and that south balkans province. Kaffa is owned by Genoa and after some time taken by the Golden Horde.
@sickel101 See? That is the difference. You played EU only until the In Nominee expansion. But since then Heir to the throne and Divine Wind appeared. And they make the game so much harder ... :D
Great so you admit it, it´s good to admit that you´re not perfect, but to don´t soundlike a jerk whe are not perfect eithet, always bendding over to E.U., and about that of deffending behind the river, is it coward to attac with more then 30000 nacional soldiers whit a plus of 8000 french knights against 7000 portuguese and 1000 english?
@1111hola And we divided, we were The most powerfull countries on the world! Portugal First and then the Spain with all respect! We were great Kingdooms, now we are passing bad times... But we will pass them!
@Halohalo497EdWarner the fact that portugal explored africa doesnt mean it was stronger. they reached india after spain, and their settlements in africa were just made to be able to supply their ships on their way to india. Spain discovered america before Portugal.
@duartesilvaaa1 yeah, but that was afterwards, at the begging the portugese used them to gather wood and food for the trips... anyways both nations had a great future starting of very little.
@1111hola i dont think that england france and the usa would be happy, but that it wasnt for bismark, portugal had a bigger rivalaty for africa against england, go search for THE PINK MAP.
@1111hola well, at least you didnt had to figth so that they woldnt be stolen, the british and the germans where conpiring before ww1 to get Angola and Moçambique, you had South Marroco, what happened?
@duartesilvaaa1 south morocco was decolonized in the 20th like nearly all african countries, so they could be independant. spain didnt fight against that, because all other european countries didnt.
@1111hola No, Portugal was the ruller of the world for 53 years, all the courts of European Kingdooms had a Portuguese representer, Portugal said to England and France that they cannot pass through Atlantic Ocean and the didn´t pass through and stayed quiet. And then Spain Rulled The world when the Portuguese hegemony ends.
@1111hola No, Portugal reached India (through the sea) before anyone else with Vasco da Gama, of that I'm sure.
There were a lot of african colonies before the discovery of the sea route to india, and the focus shifted between the places a lot of times.
Explain why did D. João II of Portugal try so hardly to convince the pope to change the Tordesilhas meridian a little bit more to the West... Spain was the first to openly announce a new continent; most of Portugal's achievments were secret.
@NetherDrakeye spain wouldnt have announced it if portugal didnt keep spying on them. Joao tried to move the tordesillas meridian to the west to get more land for the portugese. that is obvious. Vasco da gamas first voyage was in 1497. america discovered in 1492. And the african colonies were just made to supply portugese ships in their route to the cape, and many of them died of hunger. they were unimportant until the slave trade.
The national Portuguese effort was kept for 28 years, with which it was possible to win in the successive attempts of invasion of the armies of Philip III. In 1668 there was signed the agreement of Lisbon of 1668 for which Spain was recognizing the sovereignty of the neighboring country. The victory of the Portuguese restorers owed to a great extent to the Revolt of Catalonia, since all the best Castilian soldiers were there.
From 1580 to 1640 Portugal lived under the domain of the Spanish branch of the house of Hapsburg with the proclamation of Philip II of Spain, son of Carlos I of Spain and Isabel of Portugal, as King of Portugal under the name of Filipe I. The conspiracy of 1640 was planned by the noblemen D. Antão of Almada, D. Michael of Almeida and for the Dr. João Pinto Ribeiro. The moment was select well, since the house of Hapsburg confronts in this epoch problems derived from the War of thirty years
The military campaign you upset hard eighteen days between May and June, 1801. In her,a SPANISH ARMY, under the control of the own Godoy, occupies successively one dozen and a half of Portuguese populations (between them Arronches, Castelo de Vide, Field Maior, Portalegre, Olivenza and Juromenha). The Portuguese resistance is minimal, in the belief of which Spain does not have territorial pretensions.
@Tonis0000 Well, later the brits and us united against the french and whe drove them away, spain was next, sucefully the coallition replaced the illegitm king of spain by its legitm king, the bourbon king.
And the spanish forces where everywhere, spanish kingdom was poorly admistrated, but from the begging of the Restoratin battles to the catalonian revolt it was alot of time.
theres a reason why theres a country called Portugal near a much bigger one called Spain.. its called Guts and Valor. Something hard for spannish to understand but allowed Portugal to win several times, most severly outnumbered, battles against the spannish rabble.
And the Napoleonic wars, were the portuguese, not the portuguese state, was one of the major parts in the allied side, culminated with the treaty of Vienna were Olivença was returned to Portugal, being today officially portuguese territory not spanish, and portuguese have the right,to remove ilegal spanish authorities there,by any means necessary, the governments normally have good relations and we aren´t nationalist pigs like many of you, this issue is of very little importance.
I also noticed that Portugal is amongst the selected choices in 2 scenarios, and nearly all other countries have much larger european(more developed) territories.
Portugal was one of the most,if not the most relevant "small" country in european history, while Spain, was one of the most irrelevant, great european countries,France,England,Austria,Holy Roman Empire,Russia, all were far more relevant in overall terms.
Windsor treaty dates back from the XIII century, before we had no allies, and managed to kick Castille and Leon ass several times,1393 1385 crisis,we had to defeat the english,as they were sacking Lisbon, thats why from 3000 english sent only 500 participated in Aljusbarrota.
2 - Bigode? Que raio de esteriótipo mais atrasado.
@26wayo lol rage much spanish fag ahahahahahahahahaha noob every time spain (castille at the time) tried to come to portugal and conquer us they were beated so hard that it would take them 50 years to recover the lost men power and in the time of the filipine dynasty you were so bad rulers that u couldn't even hold the rebel forces lead by D.João IV ahahhahahaha naaab your county history sucks balls (oh and if u wanna say that the americas were almost all yours its not hard with gunpowder)
@ddtfreak omg. youre such an idiot. Portugal also tried to make a colonial empire, but spain's was MUCH bigger. And the portugese had gunpowder too. And its the spanish the ones who invaded portugal, not the other way round. And spain had to defend from the french to the north, the arabs through the south and the brittish through the sea. Portugal only had to defend from spain and a lot of times they were allies
@1111hola oh ok then let me rephrase for u :Gunpowder and destroction of the natives...while portugal allow the natives to liv in the colonies in peace u just killed every one who opposed the spanish empire...and the moors ? wtf we also faced the moors too remember? the portuguese and castillian reconquista ? no ? too bad...and u defended from the french ? AHAHHA u just surrender to napoleons brother so that he could attack portugal and not your precious spain -.- learn history before u speak
@ddtfreak you know, you're a complete idiot. Portugal didnt allow its sudvits to live in its empire peacefully, the 3 million inhabitants of brazil were 2/3 black slaves, and its colonies in africa only supported themselves by hunting their black inhabitants and selling them as slaves. It was not the "portugese" and castillian reconquista, its was merely the spanish reconquista. Portugal fought very little and only because spain forced them to do so, and they stopped very early, the spanish -
@ddtfreak the spanish finished the reconquista and took them off iberian peninsula, and meanwhile the portugese had attacked them by their backs twice, and spain-france was not only vs napoleon like portugal, its was all along since the reconquista to napoleon's age.
France for great part of its history was allied or neutral towards Castille/Spain,Portugal with just 1.5 M people 7 times less than Spain, tried and made a giant colonial Empire, almost of the same size, and in time with even greater richness than the spanish, and held it for 500 years, more than anyone else, containing with great success everyone who attempted to destroy it.
@StellandBlood same size? brazil is the same size as the rest of america? what else did you have? congo and angola? Goa in India? Timor in the pacific? come on.
and france was always hostile, france and spain were always in war, and spain was always in war with everyone else in europe, like, england, austria and the netherlands. Portugal fought against...?
@1111hola Brazil, same size as the rest of South America,Angola and Mozambique almost make central America,France beligerent towards Spain just in the XVI century and during the napoleonic wars, the Pyrenees were always a barrier physical and mental of french expansionism towards Spain,so Spain only really had to deal with Portugal.
I see you ignore completely the history of Portugal,in different dates Portugal fought many enemies,moors,spanish,french,dutch/german protestants/swedish/danish,Indian muslim kingdoms,Indian hindu kingdoms, the Ottoman Empire, the mamelucks, ming, english, and british, bintamese, persians, arabians, and french, and held against them all, sometimes with a bankrupt country without a professional army, holding against 6 entities at the same time, thats not for any country or people.
@StellandBlood you know what amount of ethnicies spain held? want me to name all the american tribes? the philipines? guinea? morocco, argel, tunisia, tripoli, the ottomans, all its colonies, england, france, portugal, the netherlands, protestant revolutions, revolutions, moors, granada... I can keep naming all spain did. And remember the mighty tercios, that were perfect soldiers, who fought and kept dicipline to the end, they even spent years without payment and still fought to the end, -
To be without payment for months even years, ill equipped, ill fed, diseased, out gunned, outnumbered, was a constant in portuguese armies,LOL,I can´t recall a single battle where portuguese were in numerical advantage.
@StellandBlood and the spanish? remember the fight for flandes? there were never more than 5000 spanish soldiers in the netherlands and nontheless they fought back the netherlands aidded by britain and france, while they fought the moors in africa and the turks inb their mediterranean possesions. remember the conquest of the aztects, hernan cortez had 700 soldiers agains the aztec empire and conquered it, similar situation with the incas. They were cruel, yes, but the portugese were too.
@1111hola Retard, I know about the tercios,in many wars they fought they were in advantage,in Flanders for most of the war the spanish forces made solely 1/3 of the contingents,LOL;Imperial armies were full of germans,flemish,italians........
To compare the portuguese military history with that of Spain is even insulting,Spain was a totally mediocre power, culturally and militarily.
Gypsy go bother someone else as ignorant as you, maybe the shit that gets out of your filthy mouth works.
@StellandBlood you know, fuck you. Id rather take the disscussion with the poles, they are much more educated and polite than you piratelike animal assfuck. Go hunt some black people and fuck some hairy woman, you portugese shithead.
A Argentinian,a 2nd category castilian(the ones of 1st category already are considered scum in all of Europe) a 3rd worlder, talking about politeness, being the one that began insulting.......
Thats was really funny retard.
Yes,go prostitute yourself somewhere,as you can´t even fight niggers(luso brazilians crushed spanish palatineans and other "sudacas" time and time again thats why Brazil is as large as it is),you are far lower than them.
@StellandBlood if spain is the scum of europe, portugal isnt even there. Portugal is just after greece. Go know something about the world. The one that began insulting was you, not me, and argentina beat the crap out of brazil during the war but rivadavia had to fight the federals too, and so they agreed peace on no conditions with brazil after being forced to by the brittish to do so. And argentina, if you knew anything, is better than spain, as argentinians are mixed of spanish and german.
@1111hola which are much more industrious. If you look at any kind of economic information, you would see how much more advanced argentina is compared to the rest of latin america.
1111hola At least portuguese are considered friendly and polite, while spanish are everywhere authentic piles of shit, mediocre, extremely rude and arrogant like yourself.
So is Spain in crisis,Portugal falls Spain follows.....
Brazil became weak after Portugal left, with Portugal,Brazil had the tendency to expand to all spanish South America,in America Spain was always defending.
Germans in Argentina, what germans, only argentinians descendants of the german scum, the ones uneeded, and unwanted.
@StellandBlood if brazil was weak because portugal left, then how was argentina like? spain left and civil wars were raging from 1810-1870's, and brazil was smashed even when the argentinians fough against themselves. And of course spain was defending, spain was busy fighting wars in europe and portugal was always piratelike triying to steal spain's colonies while spain was busy.
@1111hola Spain only in the XVI century was involved in wars with many adversaries, for the rest it remained halted in Iberia,Portugal expanded in Americas having a 5 times smaller population than Spain, having to keep armies in Asia,Asians were not like indians with stone weapons.....
Portugal defeated 2 times spanish/french invasion of its territory, invaded and liberated Spain from Napoleon, only that in glory smashes anything Spain ever did.
@StellandBlood spain defeated napoleon too, and the amount of invasions spain defeated were much more numerous than the portugese. moreover during brazil argentina war, brazil had 3 million people argentina 500.000 and argentina still won.
spain had colonies in the philipines, and islands in the pacific, apart from its inmensive american colonies. spain had to defend its enourmous empire from brittish/french/dutch/portugese pirates, corsaires and all your plunderers. Portugal did not.
@1111hola Which invasions Spain had to beat,LOL,French only invaded Spain 2 or 3 times, and in one they were sucessfull and placed a bourbon on the throne,France had other fronts where it was far more active like the germanies and Italy.
In Portugal Spain,France,UK NEVER suceeded,Spain entered here and imposed the Iberian Union, but only after the portuguese army was destroyed,in N.Africa, having earlier promissed Portugal help......what "hermanos" we have.....
when we were making the reconquista you left and then attacked as by our backs during the war to the moors from granada and marruecos. moreover you were allies with the brittish pirates for more than 300 years and they were the ones who destroyed the spanish economy...
spain fought france 5 times in 400 years, and from 800 to 1800 spain was in war nearly nonstop, while in that period of time the wars portugal fough can be counted with your fingers
@1111hola Have a portuguese victory down your throat. Battle of Linhas de Elvas Portugal 10,500: 8,000 infantry 2,500 cavalry 7 cannons Spain 17,500: 14,000 infantry 3,500 cavalry 19 cannons 3 mortars Losses Portugal 201 killed Spain 11200 killed So much for your tercios who fought in advantage for most of the war in Holland and Germany and lost..... And seeing how incredibly retarded you are Im going to block you, your abject ignorance is annoying.
Portugal military reputation of fending off much stronger invaders, for centuries,is such that Hitler denied Franco operation Felix, with fear of a disaster, indeed things weren´t working very well in the earlier stages, all spanish and nazi spies in Portugal were all killed.
@StellandBlood spain was with the hambruna at that time and it was bankrupt after all the wars fought and losing all its colonies.
And remember the fight in africa during 1st world war, when portugal declared war on germany and they lost mozambique to von lettow's guerrilla, which was composed of 1500-2000 men, and that had to defend tanganica too, from the 150.000 brittish and portugese soldiers attacking them. you know, portugal really, really sucks.
LOL,You are not only ignorant you are retarded,in the european theater in the battle of la Lys Portugal as the least equiped force got the weight of the german offensive, the british and french retreated, and portuguese managed to held the line until reinforcements arrived.
A portuguese soldier received the name of Millions,as he destroyed alone whole german companies.....
@1111hola Portugal at that time was so totally bankrupt, didn´t even had money to have 50 000 troops in Europe,in Africa portuguese troops were very few,so a german good performance in portuguese territory isn´t surprising at all, surprising was how the least well equipped troops in the entente fought so well, and received praises from all sides.
@StellandBlood wow. portugal fought very well indeed at ww1. unlickily portugals appearance is unimportant, as nearly every other war in the whole world. wanna know why? because you portugese never fight alone. youre cowards, always hiding on the backs of the brittish, french and dutch. You were never the primary part in any war.
LOL,we are cowards,if we are cowards then Spain are even worse cowards, lost most wars it made,LOL,always tried to be equal to France and failed miserably, not even managing to be a rival, with nearly equal size, fucked by english several times,by the dutch, and by the germans, when Charles V claimed the title of Holy Roman Emperor......its army ended crushed LOL.
And there were many invasions where Portugal had no help or significant help, like in the restauration war,we destroyed spanish attacks for 25 years alone, the only help was 2000 dutch, ironically participated in the only major battle where Portugal lost.
Why do you talk about helps, in the XVIII century without the help of the magnificent Luís XVI army Portugal would have had successfully invaded Castille, leading also british and dutch forces, you were saved by France, who become a sort of mommy, and you a sort of vassal state
Then together with Portugal you attempted to fuck revolutionary France, portuguese and spanish armies were kicked hard in the roussilion campaign,Portugal lets continue the fight,Spain lets surrender, thats why french conquered all of Spain unopposed......what a shame......wasn´t by wellington 40 000 portuguese and english troops supported by 150 000 portuguese troops(now following your sort of logics) today Spain would speak french.........
@StellandBlood no. Spain was not certainly conquered without opposition. you check out the atrocities the guerrilla did to the french and how pridefull and patriotic they were. portugese would never be able to. the fact that the spanish cant fight organizedly doesnt mean anything. army fighting is not the only way of fighting.
I have something for you to do in the game: click portugal, and then pass through the ages observing its wars, and then do the same with spain. 2 words: portugese COWARDS
It was, only when Napoleon placed his brother as king of Spain, that spanish revolted, and even still he was supported by many spanish.
I did what you asked, and what I concluded is that Portugal proportionally for its size and material and human resources, did far more, and was far braver, facing and defeating much more times than Spain stronger opponents.
@StellandBlood bah. you click on them and see the wars they faced. the portugese wars can be counted with your hands, while spain faced more than 50. And, if im not mistaken, spain is three or four times larger.
In order to be proportionally equal to spain in wars, portugal would have to be 10 times smaller than spain.
This means that, equalling and comparing, portugal fough hardly one third of wars the spanish fought.
@1111hola Spain is about 5.5 times larger, and had since 1492,a 6 times greater population, and also richer cities than Portugal, developed by the moors.
Only in the middle ages,I count,Reconquista,1 invasions of Galiza and Leon(only with the capture of D.Afonso Henriques by betrayal,Leon sided with the Moors, the attacks stopped) 2 portuguese civil wars, one lasting 40 years,4 invasions of Castille,100 years war, english side, conquest of Ceuta and Tanger, under constant attack for the next 2 centuries one of the battles 78 port knights defeat 3000 muslims....
@1111hola Spain fought this and that much more blablablablabla, spoken like a true spanish retard.
We besieged and conquered cities,Spain never had a single holding in continental asia, exterior to Europe and its many beatings,Spain only was in America against indians with stone weapons.
And 500 portuguese from wich just 200 were soldiers that defeated 35 000 Ottomans, with the help of dutch artilleryimposing 11 000 losses.
Battle of Beadalla I believe,1 portuguese nau, defeated 150 indian ships
Portugal had less than 3000 troops in Africa, having to secure Angola and Mozambique,a huge front for such number of troops,2000 germans could easily enter, and destroy some portuguese garrisons, separated by hundreds of kilometers, nothing special, and Mozambique was´t handed over to the germans.
Far more important was the great performance of the portuguese expeditionary force, without reinforcements and new equipments managed to survive, from 1916/1918,halting at a point a whole german offensive.
I thought I had blocked you, unfortunately It didn´t work, nevertheless on account of your previous ridiculous commentaries(not this one it wasn´t too bad),I will try again.
I remember in the XIII century 500 portuguese civilians defeat a castilian army of 3000 soldiers,French were pirating portuguese waters, portuguese answer, capture of the whole french fleet, and ask for ransom, and there´s much more......it was deeds like those that made Portugal one of the most admired and prestigious kingdoms for centuries.
@StellandBlood you took half an hour to make such a retarded comment. Meanswhile, I was disscussing with three different people. Have a check at all the wars the Spanish fough and remember cervantes, alarcón, quevedo, calderon de la barca, bequer, garcia lorca, miguel hernandez, machado, reverte, lope de vega. tell me at least ONE portugese.
"Portugal did not…..blablabla"Portugal never had a significant amount of corsairs nor pirates, like the dutch, french and english,Portuguese Empire was selected as their main target,as spanish-portuguese kings only decided to defend the spanish Empire letting the portuguese unguarded, and Portugal without a professional army, could keep 90% of imperial revenues, having its prisioners fighting, its useless to discuss with a complete ignorant, who talks of what he doesn´t know.
@StellandBlood you cant know the extreme amount of rage you produce me, I know 10 times more than you being way younger and still you call me a comple ignorant. spain sent gold and expensive materials to europe, portugal was poor during the most of its history and they sold only sugar until they got brazil, when they got new raw materials to sell. The spanish got a million more times the portugese gold. During the dutch golden era spain could only sent products to europe by gigantic armadas-
@StellandBlood because there were so much pirates and corsaires that would attack the spanish that they needed fleets with +100 war gallons, as pirates were always after the spanish ships, which were more valuable than any others. Meanwhile, portugal, without any fleet still managed to get 90% of their income, that tells you how incredibly much more important the spanish ships were than the portugese.
...against indian kingdoms,Ottomans,Venice, and Genoa, conquest of Ormuz, followed some decades later by the Persian Portuguese war,Malayan Portuguese war lasting 130 years, conquest of southern Arabian peninsula,4 wars against the Ottoman Empire,Ottoman-Venetian war,Portuguese Bintamian war, portuguese participation in Siam civil war, participation in the Japanese civil wars, and very imperceptibly in the Japanese-Korean war.
In 1415 Portugal reunited 20 000 troops for North Africa emissaries came from the Germanies to ask if Portugal was to attack them LOL,that was the fear Portugal instilled..........
@StellandBlood the longest war in history was fought by spain, 400 years, against the mapuches, while all portugal had to do was to simply steal the guarani land.
moreover the spanish had very big and feared armadas, and they werent even enough to protect the spanish land from you pirates. portugal never even had a fleet, all they had were pirates to steal the "migitas" that the spanish left...
spain lost an indian fleet only once in its history agaisnt the dutch... portugal never even had one
@duartesilvaaa1 the brits didnt destroy anything, the armada was sunk by the dutch later, the brittish only sunk 4 ships. and the battle of diu was 20 carraks and frigates against indian boats... a different result would be impossible. and spain just lost the armada, they still had their colonial ones intact, if not they would have bankrupted inmediately, spain could not support so much wars only with their continental lands.
@1111hola Battle of diu was indian navies, venetian navy and egipcian navy agains 20 portuguese ships, i think i know my history better than you, and yes, Filipe 1 (2) lost all of spanish and portuguese navy because of the imcompetce of a spanhiis admiral.
@duartesilvaaa1 It was lost to the dutch because there was no way to return back to spain after that storm and the dutch sunk it. portugal was fighting against gujarat boats, stop talking about venice they had no way to reach the area and egipt was the mamluks all they did was some financial and political support.
@1111hola As i said, i know my history better, and venice gave wood and admirals to build a navy to figth against portugal, so it was egyptians, indians and venetians, by the way portugal fouth in the "Armada invencivel" so it is also part of my history and know it well, first the storms, then the desorganization destroyd the fleet when figthing the British.
@duartesilvaaa1 damn you. the fleet was destroyed by the dutch, the brittish only made them retreat after losing 4 ships during the storm, and the remaining ships went, disorganized, to the netherlands, where they were destroyed. And admirals dont build navies, they fight with them. and its a different thing a navy of gujarat boats leaded by a venecian admiral than a venecian navy leaded by a gujarat admiral
@1111hola Gujarat bots, egiptians bots, venetian bots made in egypt whit a venetian admiral, and it was the british, i know it because its part of my history as much as yours, but instead of being a thing to bury because of the shame to us is another reason tho hate spain.
By the way moving on what do you think of Aljubarrota and the war of RESTARATION, and the sucessfull siege to madrid by portuguese troops(mostly)?
@duartesilvaaa1 the war of restoration was fought between castille and aragon, portugal, france and britain. The spanish had to fight all the powers of europe, and had no time to deal with the little portugese insubordiate vassals. the only actions of the war were portugese sackings of frontier spanish towns during the night, not battles. and aljubarrota was a lot of spanish fighting a very little amount of portugese, in their own territory, leaving them time to prepare -
@1111hola It´s your fault, not mine, you had so many enemies that you had to figth to at the time haha, and do you know what it is to use the rivers for defence? it´s called strategy, maybe if you had good generals i would be saing ARRIBA ESPAÑA!!! And the siege of Madrid was in 1706, the PORTUGUESE-BRITISH-DUTCH army conquered madrid, a temporary thing, but the important thing is that it was mostly made by portuguese the battle. Go search MADRID 1706.
@duartesilvaaa1 hiding behind rivers and allies can be called strategy, but it can also be called COWARDISM. Madrid was taken, just like lisbon or any other capital of a country in european history at least once. It just proves the spanish are not perfect.
@1111hola In Aljubarrota Portugal defeates the Castilians. The Spanish army were 3 times bigger than ours amry ( Portuguese) and we with our intelengence we defeated Spanish army and we won! Don´t lie!
@Halohalo497EdWarner you didnt read what i said, did you? I said the portugese won because they were defending, they were in their own territory, and they were between rivers, and they didnt have to manuever such a big army in a small area. the spanish had to run kilometers while the portugese just had to turn around, so the spanish were tired. they won because they were at terribly favorable odds.
@duartesilvaaa1 all the defenses they wanted. Moreover, the portugese fought in between rivers and the spanish had to march during the whole day, while the portugese did not move at all, so when the battle came the spanish were exhausted and the portugese were fresh. and the results of the wars were just to have a portugese king to be the king of portugal but to make the iberian union, and to give ceuta to spain. The results were actually good for spain rather than portugal.
In 1415 Portugal reunited 20 000 troops for North Africa emissaries came from the Germanies to ask if Portugal was to attack them LOL,that was the fear Portugal instilled..........
Spain was to refuse the 300 leagues in the treaty of Tordesillas,Portugal menaced with war,and even invaded,Spain shitted itself and ceded,LOL,we should have continued, with the wealth we had at that time we could have gathered a army of 70 000 troops, having some of the best commanders of its time,Spain bankrupt at that time would have been most likely crushed.
@StellandBlood you know that the inverese thing could have happened everytime in history exept that one...
the fact that spain didnt invade portugal doesnt mean they feared you. it just means they didnt care about you. spain had things much more important to do than to put you tiny flies in your place. Spain had to fight britain france and the dutch all the time, directly or indirectly, while all you had to do was to sit on your slaves and say youre better than spain
its a joke? hahaha Spain accept tordesillas cause the pope, that all...Portugal was a joke when Spain wants invaded Portigal, Spain do it. Felipe II invaded Portugal...0 opposite, even when the power of Spain it was degree in 1800 Spain invaded Portugal(oranges war), 0 opposite...that all...
A good joke was Spain, always armed in superpower ended fucked by nearly everybody.
Thats not all,Portugal menaced to invade, and Spain just shut up,Philipe II of Spain only invaded after the portuguese army was destroyed by the ottomans,he only had to fight against Prior do Crato and some nobles, and a army of peasants and freed slaves, counting on portuguese support by the Duque of Bragança,so it was also a portuguese civil war.
In the war of the oranges Spain was allied with France(the greatest power in the world),and Portugal was alone, but it was able to mobilize 80 000 soldiers not 0,there was a battle were Portugal was defeated, the war was still far from over, that war culminated in the treaty of Badajoz, were the portuguese territory was returned, except Olivença,it resulted then in a tiny diplomatic defeat for Portugal.
@StellandBlood unlike their cowardly cousins of portugal, who didnt even dare to fight without their slaves and mercenaries. without brazil, the portugese empire is nothing. cities in africa and india belonging to natives are easy to conquest, try conquering 80% of america and the low countries, sicily, naples, the frencvh county, luxembourg, milan, etc etc try defending 40% of the world's surface to the brittish, portugese and french corsarios and pirates. Moreover I'd like you to -
@StellandBlood tell me when did the portugese fight britain france, the netherlands sweeden denmark germany and how many times. helping to suffocate rebelions doesnt fucking count. If I told you all the battles the spanish fought, there wouldnt be enough space in youtube, let alone the battles they fought indirectly.
@StellandBlood the amazon and guarani war were the same and they dont count as wars, as they were attacking weak native populations, and imagine how much spain overpasses portugal at that...
It is impossible that portugal was at war 60 times... I calculate an estimate of 10 wars portugal fought throught its whole history... which is nothing compared to the dutch or the spanish
Always you come with your usual shitty ignorance, you got defeated in argumants, like Spain/Castille got defeated nearly everytime it faced Portugal, thats the weakness of Spain and spaniards, your complexes of superiority and inferiority command you,and you can´t see reason, nor reality,we also have some of that kind of people however not as many and not so sick.
@StellandBlood youre right. spain was poor and didnt have any power because it didnt attack helpless indian cities nor invaded beduin deserts nor attacked asian tribes who lived in jugles, neither take the land from the peaceful guaranis, nor build cities in unhabited african lands. Thats just how powerfull Portugal was.
Always you come with your usual shitty ignorance, you got defeated in argumants, like Spain got defeated nearly everytime it faced Portugal, thats the weakness of Spain and spaniards, you have the strenght, however your complexes of superiority and inferiority command you,and you can´t see reason, then you are not ready if things aren´t what you expect,we also have some of that kind of people but not as many and not so fucking sick.

Defeat the Ottoman Empire with the 2 provinces Byzantinum in DW. Then come here and post it. That will be nice. This is pathetic.

@GoguMacaroana Whit the Byzantine empire you need only two things, 1 a strong navy 2 make sure that they´re troops are in asia an blok the strait of dardanelos
duartesilvaaa1 3 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 :) Yes ... but it is quite hard to have enough money to sustain a bigger fleet that the ottos + an army and avoid raising inflation. After that it is hard to fight with the Bosnian and Serbian with only 4 regiments.

Halohalo497EdWarner 3 months ago
@1111hola No, Portugal reached India (through the sea) before anyone else with Vasco da Gama, of that I'm sure.
There were a lot of african colonies before the discovery of the sea route to india, and the focus shifted between the places a lot of times.
Explain why did D. João II of Portugal try so hardly to convince the pope to change the Tordesilhas meridian a little bit more to the West... Spain was the first to openly announce a new continent; most of Portugal's achievments were secret.
NetherDrakeye 2 months ago

Tonis0000 4 months ago
From 1580 to 1640 Portugal lived under the domain of the Spanish branch of the house of Hapsburg with the proclamation of Philip II of Spain, son of Carlos I of Spain and Isabel of Portugal, as King of Portugal under the name of Filipe I. The conspiracy of 1640 was planned by the noblemen D. Antão of Almada, D. Michael of Almeida and for the Dr. João Pinto Ribeiro. The moment was select well, since the house of Hapsburg confronts in this epoch problems derived from the War of thirty years
Tonis0000 4 months ago
The military campaign you upset hard eighteen days between May and June, 1801. In her,a SPANISH ARMY, under the control of the own Godoy, occupies successively one dozen and a half of Portuguese populations (between them Arronches, Castelo de Vide, Field Maior, Portalegre, Olivenza and Juromenha). The Portuguese resistance is minimal, in the belief of which Spain does not have territorial pretensions.
Tonis0000 4 months ago
@Tonis0000 Well, later the brits and us united against the french and whe drove them away, spain was next, sucefully the coallition replaced the illegitm king of spain by its legitm king, the bourbon king.

@ddtfreak omg. youre such an idiot. Portugal also tried to make a colonial empire, but spain's was MUCH bigger. And the portugese had gunpowder too. Portugal only had to defend from spain and a lot of times they were allies

ddtfreak 4 months ago
@ddtfreak you know, you're a complete idiot. Portugal didnt allow its sudvits to live in its empire peacefully, the 3 million inhabitants of brazil were 2/3 black slaves, and its colonies in africa only supported themselves by hunting their black inhabitants and selling them as slaves. It was not the "portugese" and castillian reconquista, its was merely the spanish reconquista. Portugal fought very little and only because spain forced them to do so, and they stopped very early, the spanish -
1111hola 4 months ago

1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola Spain only in the XVI century was involved in wars with many adversaries, for the rest it remained halted in Iberia,Portugal expanded in Americas having a 5 times smaller population than Spain, having to keep armies in Asia,Asians were not like indians with stone weapons.....
Portugal defeated 2 times spanish/french invasion of its territory, invaded and liberated Spain from Napoleon, only that in glory smashes anything Spain ever did.
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood spain defeated napoleon too, and the amount of invasions spain defeated were much more numerous than the portugese. moreover during brazil argentina war, brazil had 3 million people argentina 500.000 and argentina still won.
spain had colonies in the philipines, and islands in the pacific, apart from its inmensive american colonies. spain had to defend its enourmous empire from brittish/french/dutch/portugese pirates, corsaires and all your plunderers. Portugal did not.
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola Which invasions Spain had to beat,LOL,French only invaded Spain 2 or 3 times, and in one they were sucessfull and placed a bourbon on the throne,France had other fronts where it was far more active like the germanies and Italy.

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood spain was with the hambruna at that time and it was bankrupt after all the wars fought and losing all its colonies.
And remember the fight in africa during 1st world war, when portugal declared war on germany and they lost mozambique to von lettow's guerrilla, which was composed of 1500-2000 men, and that had to defend tanganica too, from the 150.000 brittish and portugese soldiers attacking them. you know, portugal really, really sucks.
1111hola 4 months ago

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@1111hola Portugal at that time was so totally bankrupt, didn´t even had money to have 50 000 troops in Europe,in Africa portuguese troops were very few,so a german good performance in portuguese territory isn´t surprising at all, surprising was how the least well equipped troops in the entente fought so well, and received praises from all sides.
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood wow. portugal fought very well indeed at ww1. unlickily portugals appearance is unimportant, as nearly every other war in the whole world. wanna know why? because you portugese never fight alone. youre cowards, always hiding on the backs of the brittish, french and dutch. You were never the primary part in any war.
1111hola 4 months ago

StellandBlood 4 months ago

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood no. Spain was not certainly conquered without opposition. you check out the atrocities the guerrilla did to the french and how pridefull and patriotic they were. portugese would never be able to. the fact that the spanish cant fight organizedly doesnt mean anything. army fighting is not the only way of fighting.
I have something for you to do in the game: click portugal, and then pass through the ages observing its wars, and then do the same with spain. 2 words: portugese COWARDS
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood bah. you click on them and see the wars they faced. the portugese wars can be counted with your hands, while spain faced more than 50. And, if im not mistaken, spain is three or four times larger.
In order to be proportionally equal to spain in wars, portugal would have to be 10 times smaller than spain.
This means that, equalling and comparing, portugal fough hardly one third of wars the spanish fought.
1111hola 4 months ago

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood one of the battles for the spanish north africa enclaves were 160 spanish vs 20.000 muslims and it held...
I need to remember which enclave it was, but I believe it was ceither ceuta or oran
stop counting participations in wars. the spanish are so much you nearly cant count them.
indian kingdoms its bullshit, you just sieged cities
spain fought italy too
spain fought the muslims much more
spain had wars against natives in america just like portugal had on south asia and arab
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola Spain fought this and that much more blablablablabla, spoken like a true spanish retard.
We besieged and conquered cities,Spain never had a single holding in continental asia, exterior to Europe and its many beatings,Spain only was in America against indians with stone weapons.
And 500 portuguese from wich just 200 were soldiers that defeated 35 000 Ottomans, with the help of dutch artilleryimposing 11 000 losses.
Battle of Beadalla I believe,1 portuguese nau, defeated 150 indian ships
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood it was not a good performance... it was handing mozambique to 2000 germans, having 150.000 brittish to help you.
spain was so bankrupt that it couldnt even join any of both wars.
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood it wasnt 2000 germans... remember they had to defend tanganica from 150.000 brittish... that could divide some of your troops
and the germans managed to survive 1914/1919 in tanzania with 2000 men vs 150.000 brittish
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola

@1111hola
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood you took half an hour to make such a retarded comment. Meanswhile, I was disscussing with three different people. Have a check at all the wars the Spanish fough and remember cervantes, alarcón, quevedo, calderon de la barca, bequer, garcia lorca, miguel hernandez, machado, reverte, lope de vega. tell me at least ONE portugese.
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood you cant know the extreme amount of rage you produce me, I know 10 times more than you being way younger and still you call me a comple ignorant. spain sent gold and expensive materials to europe, portugal was poor during the most of its history and they sold only sugar until they got brazil, when they got new raw materials to sell. The spanish got a million more times the portugese gold. During the dutch golden era spain could only sent products to europe by gigantic armadas-
1111hola 4 months ago

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood the longest war in history was fought by spain, 400 years, against the mapuches, while all portugal had to do was to simply steal the guarani land.
moreover the spanish had very big and feared armadas, and they werent even enough to protect the spanish land from you pirates. portugal never even had a fleet, all they had were pirates to steal the "migitas" that the spanish left...
spain lost an indian fleet only once in its history agaisnt the dutch... portugal never even had one
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola no, spain had no fleet to figt the dutch because the brits destroyed everithing, while we had to fight the battle of diu, look that up
duartesilvaaa1 4 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 the brits didnt destroy anything, the armada was sunk by the dutch later, the brittish only sunk 4 ships. and the battle of diu was 20 carraks and frigates against indian boats... a different result would be impossible. and spain just lost the armada, they still had their colonial ones intact, if not they would have bankrupted inmediately, spain could not support so much wars only with their continental lands.
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola Battle of diu was indian navies, venetian navy and egipcian navy agains 20 portuguese ships, i think i know my history better than you, and yes, Filipe 1 (2) lost all of spanish and portuguese navy because of the imcompetce of a spanhiis admiral.
duartesilvaaa1 4 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 It was lost to the dutch because there was no way to return back to spain after that storm and the dutch sunk it. portugal was fighting against gujarat boats, stop talking about venice they had no way to reach the area and egipt was the mamluks all they did was some financial and political support.
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola As i said, i know my history better, and venice gave wood and admirals to build a navy to figth against portugal, so it was egyptians, indians and venetians, by the way portugal fouth in the "Armada invencivel" so it is also part of my history and know it well, first the storms, then the desorganization destroyd the fleet when figthing the British.
duartesilvaaa1 4 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 damn you. the fleet was destroyed by the dutch, the brittish only made them retreat after losing 4 ships during the storm, and the remaining ships went, disorganized, to the netherlands, where they were destroyed. And admirals dont build navies, they fight with them. and its a different thing a navy of gujarat boats leaded by a venecian admiral than a venecian navy leaded by a gujarat admiral
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola Gujarat bots, egiptians bots, venetian bots made in egypt whit a venetian admiral, and it was the british, i know it because its part of my history as much as yours, but instead of being a thing to bury because of the shame to us is another reason tho hate spain.
By the way moving on what do you think of Aljubarrota and the war of RESTARATION, and the sucessfull siege to madrid by portuguese troops(mostly)?
duartesilvaaa1 4 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 the war of restoration was fought between castille and aragon, portugal, france and britain. The spanish had to fight all the powers of europe, and had no time to deal with the little portugese insubordiate vassals. the only actions of the war were portugese sackings of frontier spanish towns during the night, not battles. and aljubarrota was a lot of spanish fighting a very little amount of portugese, in their own territory, leaving them time to prepare -
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola It´s your fault, not mine, you had so many enemies that you had to figth to at the time haha, and do you know what it is to use the rivers for defence? it´s called strategy, maybe if you had good generals i would be saing ARRIBA ESPAÑA!!! And the siege of Madrid was in 1706, the PORTUGUESE-BRITISH-DUTCH army conquered madrid, a temporary thing, but the important thing is that it was mostly made by portuguese the battle. Go search MADRID 1706.
duartesilvaaa1 4 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 hiding behind rivers and allies can be called strategy, but it can also be called COWARDISM. Madrid was taken, just like lisbon or any other capital of a country in european history at least once. It just proves the spanish are not perfect.
1111hola 4 months ago
@1111hola In Aljubarrota Portugal defeates the Castilians. The Spanish army were 3 times bigger than ours amry ( Portuguese) and we with our intelengence we defeated Spanish army and we won! Don´t lie!
Halohalo497EdWarner 3 months ago
@Halohalo497EdWarner you didnt read what i said, did you? I said the portugese won because they were defending, they were in their own territory, and they were between rivers, and they didnt have to manuever such a big army in a small area. the spanish had to run kilometers while the portugese just had to turn around, so the spanish were tired. they won because they were at terribly favorable odds.
1111hola 3 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 all the defenses they wanted. Moreover, the portugese fought in between rivers and the spanish had to march during the whole day, while the portugese did not move at all, so when the battle came the spanish were exhausted and the portugese were fresh. and the results of the wars were just to have a portugese king to be the king of portugal but to make the iberian union, and to give ceuta to spain. The results were actually good for spain rather than portugal.
1111hola 4 months ago
@duartesilvaaa1 the siege of madrid was by franco and it had nothing to do with the portugese

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood you know that the inverese thing could have happened everytime in history exept that one...
the fact that spain didnt invade portugal doesnt mean they feared you. it just means they didnt care about you. spain had things much more important to do than to put you tiny flies in your place. Spain had to fight britain france and the dutch all the time, directly or indirectly, while all you had to do was to sit on your slaves and say youre better than spain
1111hola 4 months ago
its a joke? hahaha Spain accept tordesillas cause the pope, that all...Portugal was a joke when Spain wants invaded Portigal, Spain do it. Felipe II invaded Portugal...0 opposite, even when the power of Spain it was degree in 1800 Spain invaded Portugal(oranges war), 0 opposite...that all...
Tonis0000 4 months ago
@Tonis0000
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@Tonis0000
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@Tonis0000 say that to the descendts of MR Wellington.
duartesilvaaa1 4 months ago
@StellandBlood unlike their cowardly cousins of portugal, who didnt even dare to fight without their slaves and mercenaries. without brazil, the portugese empire is nothing. cities in africa and india belonging to natives are easy to conquest, try conquering 80% of america and the low countries, sicily, naples, the frencvh county, luxembourg, milan, etc etc try defending 40% of the world's surface to the brittish, portugese and french corsarios and pirates. Moreover I'd like you to -
1111hola 4 months ago
@StellandBlood tell me when did the portugese fight britain france, the netherlands sweeden denmark germany and how many times. helping to suffocate rebelions doesnt fucking count. If I told you all the battles the spanish fought, there wouldnt be enough space in youtube, let alone the battles they fought indirectly.

Portuguese Mamluk war,Portuguese dutch war.......Portuguese Amazon war.....Portuguese Guarani war......
Resuming Portugal was at war at least 60 times, probably more than any other country of its size in Europe,if not the world.
StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood the amazon and guarani war were the same and they dont count as wars, as they were attacking weak native populations, and imagine how much spain overpasses portugal at that...
It is impossible that portugal was at war 60 times... I calculate an estimate of 10 wars portugal fought throught its whole history... which is nothing compared to the dutch or the spanish

StellandBlood 4 months ago
@StellandBlood youre right. spain was poor and didnt have any power because it didnt attack helpless indian cities nor invaded beduin deserts nor attacked asian tribes who lived in jugles, neither take the land from the peaceful guaranis, nor build cities in unhabited african lands. Thats just how powerfull Portugal was.
