  • So sad to see this great musician lining off for that rancid panel of nobodies...

  • @awamoriwhiskey I agree!

  • @awamoriwhiskey Actually I hear he only did it for the free plane ticket and gratis hotel (courtesy of BBC) to do his solo album "Aleecat" in London with bassist Dave Glover and drummer Pete Phipps. They started recording the day after the shooting of this show. The album was released a few years ago.

So the show served a higher purpose.

  • could you please upload the entire album?? pleease?

  • Waxy cheeky bitch alan merrill always the best

  • Cool clip. I want to see more of the performance.

  • This is one of my favourite episodes ever. Do you have the entire programme? If so, could you possibly upload it please? :)

  • Tony Sales owes Alan Merrill $20 for guitar lessons going back to his tutleage in 1967. With interest and inflation that must be about $1,000 by now! LOL!

  • Legend!

  • Hahahahahaha! I've heard this urban legend.

  • It's one of rock music's best trivia questions!

  • What?

    Q) Who wrote & sang the first version of I Love Rock N Roll?

    A) Alan Merrill (Arrows)

  • No, that Tony Sales owes Alan 20 dollars.

  • @singlegorilla ** Tony Sales owes Alan Merrill $20 ** - LEGENDARY!

  • alan is still a doll in my opinion! what a smile! those people on the panel wish they looked as cute as alan still does!! lonelystreet

  • @lonelystreet Oh so right he is still so beautiful and I was so in love with him back in the day.Even then though I knew he had the best talent too unlike more popular bands.

  • Right, Joan Jett covered Arrows I love rock and roll. Alan's band put it out 1st. Touch too much was a cool Arrows hit song as well.

  • He didn't write I love rock and roll for Joan Jett. She covered it after he wrote and recorded the original 1975 version with the Arrows.

  • I didn't know anyone on the panel either except for Spin magazine's eighties pinup Seb Bach.

  • How rude to say he looks like he's been wheeled out of Madame Tussauds. Let's see how good she looks when she's in her 50's! Compared to a lot of the rock stars from the same era, he looks pretty hot.On that note, i'm going for a cold shower lol.

  • 3 looks like rasputin

  • oi PurpleHazeOfSanj i KNOW number 3 hahaha :p

  • Odd, but I knew who Alan Merrill was but didn't know who anyone on the panel was! lol!!

  • aw man i'd love the see the whole episode!

  • the guitarist looks like noel fielding a bit.

  • I can see that!

  • Thats Neil Innes on Phils team!

  • Hardly a challenge for the panel:>

  • hi, do you have the whole episode?? it is possibly one of my favourites ever :) and if you could upload/send it to me, I'd be very grateful!!

  • Arrows were movers on stage early on!

  • Youtube has some really odd clips like this. Thanks for posting.

  • Yeah, even a blind panel could have picked him out just from his speaking voice:)

  • DUH! Hardly a challenge for the panel.

  • Cool vid :)

  • Alan !!! XOXOXOXOXOXO !!!

  • I agree. He looked bored.

  • Alan Merrill looks bored.

  • Arrows!

  • Alan Merrill formed the band Runner afer Arrows split up, and went on to do solo records, also later touring and recording with Derringer and Meat Loaf in the 1980s. His musical career has been very bizarre and mismanaged, that fact underlined by this odd and ill fitting appearance on Nevermind the Buzzcocks.

  • Alan Merrill hasn't had a manager for many years. He hates the music business but still loves the music.

  • I love Alan Merrill! CC- XXXXXXXXXX

  • I too love Meat Loaf. Always have, always will.

What a great voice and incredible performer.

    skye

  • Good clip.

  • Meatloaf? revered? hahahaha

  • How dare you! Meat Loaf fills huge arenas, stadiums, theaters and bathtubs everywhere!

  • The Arrows were great

  • Yes. Strange days have found us!

  • They did not mention that Alan was a guitarist for several years with Meatloaf because one of the panelists was a vegetarian.

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

  • Arrows. High energy power pop!

  • Baz and Merrill was in this?! Damn. I always miss the good stuff on tv.

  • I sort of enjoyed this and was disturbed by it at the same time.

  • Loved the classic Arrows clip, and all of the screaming girls! : - }

  • Couldn't they have found someone who looked even a little bit like him? Cripes. That was just weird.

  • Never realized he moved like so much Jagger back in the day. That was a really good Arrows clip. Thank you for posting that video.

  • Alan Merrill of Arrows looks so much better than most of his 70s pop band contemporaries, that's for sure.

  • You are right there mate....

  • The appearance was way beneath his stature in the rock world. It seems Alan Merrill was just there in the UK promoting his latest solo album "Cupid Deranged" at the time. Personally I thought he came off rather well, and with far more class than the panel.

  • Maybe, but it still must be cringeworthy embarrassing to be standing there and getting slagged off.

  • That was must have been really embarrassing for Alan Merrill, the woman that called him a "wax work", eh, excuse me love, you are hardly a doll yourself, lol
