@Sodiumreactor You obviously never heard what Gene Roddenberry said in response to a question why there isn't a cure for baldness in the 24th century. His answer was that they wouldn't care. I think that would apply here as well. Even though technically it is a disorder in the sense that the chemicals in a gay/lesbian are not the same as a strait person's, but who cares. It is not hurting you in the slightest, and I would hope that in the future, like Gene said, people wouldn't care.
@parrot998 Strictly speaking, authough scientists have discovered that a lack of the nurotransmitter seratonin in the brain causes changes in the sexual preference in mice, it is too early to draw a conclusion regarding humans. Although, I completely agree that, regardless of cause, there's nothing wrong with it and, hopefully sooner rather than later, people will stop making such a big deal over homosexuality and just live with it.
The O'Brien/Bashir romance is completely gauche and unlike their characters. I know it's been done to death but the sexual subtext of Bashir's friendship with Garak is pretty obvious in the series.

@divad838 Why too bad? Nobody wants to see gay people in trek. By this time in the future they would have a surgery that could be done on the brain that would change them to be normal.
@divad838 Its not a fantasy. Its a scientific fact. Get used to it. Dont worry, someday they will be able to cure you, and you will feel normal. You will love it, trust me!
@Sodiumreactor Just stop arguing. By that far in the future it won't matter if someone's gay or not. They will have gotten over it. And it really shouldn't matter to you what people think. It really has nothing to do with you so just stop. And you are insulting to those of us who are gay, lesbian, or bi. So just shut up and get over it.

@TheTrekkie12 We are insulting you? YOUR INSULTING US! By taking something we love and perverting it into something its not, YOUR THE ONE WHOS INSULTING. I will say it again, that far into the future, they will have already cured homosexuality at the genetic level. If that insults you, "shut up and get over it."

@TheTrekkie12 No of course it isnt. Never said it was. Its a genetic disorder. Studies have shown genetics have a great deal to do with the disorder. Obviously, the the future of Star Trek, science has been able to remove terrible diseases such as Diabetes and Scoliosis, at the genetic level. They also have been able to weed out such things as Homosexuality, as well as bestiality and other sexual perversions. Murder, rape, robbery, none of that happens on Earth in the future.
This is great. And it's definitely right, as I have talked to Andy Robinson about his role, and he DID actually decide to play Garak as "sexually open" as possible, but then the writers and the suits would not agree to a gay plot turn, and so Garak had to end up with Gul Dukat's daughter..
No, no, I wish I was a good friend. But he was so kind, when I met him at FedCon. I was just one of many journalists he had to talk to, but he made me feel really special taking my questions very seriously, even telling me a few anecdotes. He is a great actor, and a great person. He is married by the way, but the gay development was important to him, because he felt that this was what Star Trek was about. to show that in the future it's accepted and OK to be gay!!
I was tempted to ask him about it when I met him at Collectormania 15, but I figured he'd already answered that question. I took along my copy of 'A Stitch in Time', his biography of Garak. His eyes lit up when he saw that I'd brought it to get signed.

Haha, you should do another one between Sisko and Jake. Nothing was gayer than that. Especially the first episode when he wakes him up and tells him he looks just like his mother...totally gay....lol

The Gay Games VIII in 2010 should be held on the moon or Mars. There are over 160 moons where these events can be held. GO gays GO..it is your destiny.
Which episode is it that O'brein and Bashir get drunk together.
