I envy you... the unedited, uncropped version. You watch the VHS a million times as a kid, and then come to youtube as an adult and you see that 40% of the artwork, the animation, the movie you love was left out!

Oh I love this! The color is so much brighter and brilliant than the old VHS tape I have. I've always wanted to know the lyrics of the song. Although I think the word she really uses is cost rather than price. But I'm not quite sure.

Still I love this movie it's so sad that the original story didn't have her gaining her true love.

if u ask me the one thing disney actually did right when they made the little mermaid is in the art for the characters and also the fact that the characters actually look like they are underwater unlike the old movie and the only reason that's not really bad is because of how old the movie is since animation wasn't where it was when disney's ver. came out, but in all seriousness disney movies r for kids but have somewhat of a general focus toward young adults given the themes that go on in them

This song was stuck in my head for a while ever since I saw it as a kid, and I can't help but think that this was probably the most tragic and depressing story. I read the real story and it was a bitter sweet story that Hans Christian Andersen wrote. I guess the reason why I like this anime a little better than the Disney's is because it was very faithful to the spirit of Andersen's story, where the mermaid sacrificed her life for love in order to gain eternal life; very beautiful theme.

I have an English version DVD copy of this exact movie,but at the part where Marina first starts singing & dancing at the beginning is where it looks like they chopped off her head or something....really sucks,to be honest. I've watched the movie several times & can honestly say I absolutely LOVE it! Kinda makes you want to meet or befriend a mermaid in real life,eh? You didnt miss much from the DVD. This clip i posted is from a custom made dvd . The source is from Europe. The usa dvd is the same quality and full screen like the VHS.

The DVD has 3 audio tracks and 4 subtitle options.

Well remember this was released in the Late 70's and no one had wide screen tvs. All movies were released in the 4:3 aspect ratio to fill the tv instead of wide screen with the black bars on top and bottom. And this clip is from he DVD in Spain, that's why it was perfect quality. It also has the original Japanese audio track. Id does not have the English audio though, thats what im working on right now to share this with everyone.
