Windows mobile is failure child of windows CE. I wish Microsoft would keep the desk top based windows CE still going. Was one of the only operating systems to use the full capabilities of small mobile processors. I loved that OS like it was my child. It would be bad ass if they had it for some of the smart phones these days. But they cut the line with it then re-launched it as the new re-designed windows mobile. All I could remember is.......it sucks

Yes. A data plan is required for a pda or blackberry phone. They would be kinda useless without the data plan.

I'm not saying they are right for making you have the data plan. Personally, I don't see the point in a smartphone without a data plan. However, if one wants a smartphone without a data plan, that should be their choice. You missunderstood me.

no, you and the rest of the world seem to misunderstand what a "data" plan is. because of sneaky advertising, cell phone companys make their products out to be something that they are not. a data plan is mobile internet, thats it. a smartphone is a personal computer with a phone. niether devices need internet to function

and i just hate it when people say a data plan is required to make the phone work correctly( i know you didnt say that)

I agree with everything you are saying. although a smartphone is more like a palm pilot with a phone, rather than a pc with a phone.

Perhaps I just look at it differently because my job requires almost constant use of the data plan.

But you know what is worse than the data plan and the gps? The fee for using the smartphone as a tethered modem. That is complete bs.

That being said, sneaky advertising is not limited to cell phones.

im looking at verizon phones with touchscreens which are very receptive and really smooth. i was thinking iphone, but i have decided verizon and now i cant decide if the droid is the right choice, or the imagio, or others i've seen. if anyone has suggestions, please help :D

I really don't like the large text in the menus on 6.1 because I don't want to scroll down, and the autoscroll thing where it goes down automatically is a pain. Can you shrink the menu sizes to the standard Windows 5 size? I use the Fuze, turned off the Touch Flo junk because I need to look through 30 messages quickly, not 3. I prefer resistive touchscreens on WinMo devices, you can use your fingernail for accuracy, which I love and can accurately select small things without gigantic text.
