You "pinch" the string with your thumb and pointer while holding a note, its really hard to learn at first but it gets alot easier

on certain frets there are natural harmonics 12, 5, and 3 are the easiest to find, just place your fingers on the strings right above the fret [ metal line ] and strum down it, its a natural harmonic, don't press down, just place your fingers on the strings :]

ahaha. bud, you need to kiss ur stupid picks goodbye. You'll get no where (in terms of skill) if you stick with the pick. If anything, they slow you down, play with your fingers!! And to answer your keshtonne, just pluck normally, but you don't pluck, but start plucking/slapping/popping/thum­ping/tapping! You'll get alot more outta your bass! TRUST ME MY FRIEND!

Lay a small portion of the knife edge of your thumb on the string, and pluck with your index finger. It'll take some time to find the "sweet spots" (areas that can be used to produce harmonics).

No, the sound he gets at 40 isn't a pinch harmonic, its an artificial harmonic. Jaco invented those in Portrait of Tracy. He's using his thumb on his left hand to make that noise while picking the harmonic.
