As far as I'm concerned, Jean-Michel Jarre is the best composer of electronic music of all times. When I listen to him, I don't pay attention only to the quality of the sound (which, of course, evolves with the passing of time), but to the musical compositions themselves. He's very creative, unique.
I don't understand why they chose the Extended Mix (Blue vinyl record sold seperatly back in the day) of this song for the music-video... Compared to the album version it sound rather different..
I do have to admit, i perfer the extended (this) version more then the album version, making it even (atleast for me) an even stranger choice...

This clip seems to have 'extra' bits near the end that dont appear on the album, especially the hand percussion on the bongo's. I wonder if he plans to remaster the Equinoxe album? he played this (equinoxe 4) at his concert recently. Sounds even better live!!!
The video is like that, MTV hasn't speeded it up! I've often wondered why they video is like that, I've got JMJ's Images on VHS and it's the exact same!

Nadaaf - You shouldn't blame the US people for what their music industry has hidden from them in the past. In 78 it was pretty difficult to get known in a territory where the industry didn't give support. I wouldn't blame the public.
YouTube is a great opportunity for people to discover what wasn't known first time round and I'd prefer to say "welcome.. glad you found and hope you enjoy JMJ music!"

I would recommend Vangelis and Tangerine Dream. Kraftwerk is also considered as good electronic music but you may not like it.
