I remember 64 player battles on 14.4k dial up with no lag back in the day. Starsiege: Tribes had (and still has) one of the best game engines ever in my opinion. Anything that can be played lag free on 14.4k (not even 56k) dial up in a 64 or 128 player server without lag is fucking amazing. Especially when you consider how much goes on in Tribes and how big the maps are. I really hope Hi-Rez keeps the Darkstar engine for Tribes: Ascend.

Tribes may have gotten the ball rolling (and I upgraded my video card and had LAN parties just for Tribes, believe me, I enjoyed singlehandedly taking out a baserape team with smartly placed laser turrets) but Halo took the baton for the sprint. Halo is the champ on the team, but Tribes really got it started, yes.

@sikorski1337 But didnt vengeance also do away with being able to destroy bases and repair packs and replace them with health pickups....i just heard this game has regenerating health which might mean no repair packs which might mean no destroying enemy turrets, vehicle pads, solar pannels, shield generator, ect.....i miss when people would rage that u destroyed their base and mined where the repair pack spawns!

Tribes 1: Jetpacks flying vehicals 3 classes of armor no races involved

Halo 1: Covenent, Humans Hard as F*** to get a flying vehicals

no jetpacks no class system

Tribes 2: 3 class system jetpacks one new race the Bioderms

Loads of vehicals you can spawn when you want

Halo 2: same load of crap but flying vehicals are easier to get and you get to be an alien now oh joy
