OmG I remember this it was the scariest thing ever....... It was cool because about 7 fire engines were in front of my house trying to save Green Valley. But it was horrifying =( I guess this is what we get for living in SO.CAL haha: )
Well, this inappropriate comment is like comparing apples to mangoes. Many people in the Katrina Disaster were not able to flee the rising flood waters. Unlike the San Diego evacuees, the did not have sufficient warning to organize an efficient evacuation.
Plus, our local governments have learned a lesson since the 2003 wildfires and had time to plan for just such a disaster. I could go on, but I won't.
If you don't understand what's really going on here, please keep those comments to yourself.
The Fire Department would like to have been able create "buffer zones" but the only way they could build those buffer zones would be to create backfires to burn the brush in a controlled manner. The thing is, Environmental Groups have lobbied local governments to create laws that prevent these fires from being used. Maybe we need to compromise on these laws in order to save more lives. Something to think about.
That was a dumb suggestion because they tried doing that very thing during the Cedar Fires of 2003. They could not control the fires they started and then they just ended up with another problem.
thats a moronic thing to suggest, over a million people have been evacuated in my county these past three days, with wind gusts at up to sixty miles per hour, and single digit humidity, nothing could stop this.
You have a problem...A PROBLEM
OF EPIkNESS!!!

Being that this is not a new to Cali, they should have created "buffer zones" so that they could minimize the damage of these fires...

Very interesting. Wish that there was an elapsed-time indication on the screen, but still very cool.

Yeah, I made this with iMovie, and I don't think it can do any type of time code.
I plan on doing another one tinight for an updated perspective.
