Better at handling clutch situations than Coach Pitino, if you ask me. I grew up watching his teams play, and they were some of the best moments of my childhood.
Ohhh man get chills when I see this dude... great vid thaks Denny for everything.. expecially at 1:05 when Griffith is being held up at the 81 championship game ...hopefully we see T Will do that this yr on that last Monday of the college basketball bracket... GREAT VID
no,the game didn't pass him up. the offense we ran in 05 and 08 is the hi post which Coach Crum perfected while at UCLA. He would recruit athletes who were unknown and turn them into bball players. once the recruiting websites and mags came out, the same type of guys Denny would go after, wasn't unknown anymore, and everyone would recruit them. so to all those who say the game passed him by, chew on this. the best x and o coach you will find.
The good thing is now he has more time to enjoy one of his favorite hobbies...fishing. We'll never forget Denny Crum. 30 years, over 675-295, 42-23 NCAA Tournament Record, 6 Final Fours, 2 National Championships, 1994 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee, 21 20-win seasons, average of 23 wins per year and a slew of basketball players who were drafted to the NBA...including Darrell Griffith, Pervis Ellison and Felton Spencer.
Who is the better coach, Rick Pitino or Denny Crum. Is it close between the two of them or is one far better than the other? P.S.-Did Denny Crum outcoach Coach K in the 1986 title game?

Still hurts that we didn't hire him to come back to UCLA when we had the chance. Our loss was Louisville's gain.

had alot of opportunities to go back home to LA and coach the Bruins, but stayed loyal to his players, university, fans and the city of Louisville.

give Coach Crum time to draw up a play to win the game and best believe a player would have an open shot.

They should name the new arena after him, Its the least they could do for a man who gave his heart an soul to the team.
