I dont understand how t tun my guitar oDown to B Std... I just have a boss tuner, and I use the flats... sometimes 1 flat... smetimes 2 or 3 flats... what does the down B std means then??
@adamjg4 NYHC in general, beginning with the Cro-Mags and Antidote! ; Early Suicidal Tendencies! : Melvins! ; Amebix circa Arise! ; Last lack Flag album! ; Discharge, Anti-Cimex and their followers!; Napalm Death in their early days and the scene around which they centered; Japan's "Burning spirit hardcore" with stuff like Death Side; Tragedy and modern "crust"; The "Holy Terror" scene of the american south. But last but not least Ice-T:s Bodycount, punk as fuck at times.
@adamjg4 There is so much more to it! Even punkish hardcore have some metal there. Just ask anyone in any of the hardcore scenes (including crust, crossover thrash etc as hardcore) that's been around for a while. Or me, but I'm in a sleeping pill daze so I'll just tamble some on top of my head......
I play B standard on my ESP Horizon NT-7 and can't think of any punk bands who use B standard except US band Pro-pain. I've heard of tone tuning pedals, but do they really sound like the real deal?
@AmericanDeathHead You're probably right. I played in B standard for this one on a whim really. I think the riff sounds a bit like later Sepultura & Nail Bomb. The Morpheus pedal is OK I think. Obviously it is better and more authentic to tune the guitar down.
@AmericanDeathHead B standard will be the tuning of people who use a 7 string guitar. So if you find a punk band who use 7 strings, then they use B standard.
best channel for tutorials ever.. learn quick , tab support on the home page, good teacher. what else could aynone need. i also wanted to ask about the toneport..
can you connect it to an amp/ hear what you are playing through the speakers?(when connected on the computer)
@CannibalCadavere When I do videos, I run the tone port through my two stereo speakers which are hooked up to a Marantz stereo amplifier. The tone port also has right and left line inputs, right and left analog outputs. I just plug an the RCA stereo cable into the headphone jack of the tone port. Works pretty well :D You can also use headphones obviously, but that's my least preferred option unless I'm doing some recording.
this is not hardcore,or fast at all, this sounds like Melodic Death metal riffs
WorldEnslaved 4 days ago
It sounds like those silly metalcore "riffs". Imo, if you are downtunning much, the end result is noise, not music.

@vazqum1 You don't have to tune down anyway. B is a half-step lower than C.

I'm a big monster fan and I love the Dracula shirt :) and the riff reminds me a metal/punk fusion as others have stated.

It doesn't sound oldschool, but it's still hardcore... Kinda like Cancer Bats or Sworn Enemy - hardcore with metal...
Could I be right? :D
