My favorite is Shattered Memories followed by 1, 2, 3, Origins, and 4. Haven't played 5 yet.

They each have good things about them:

SM = Psychological horror story which I like

3 = Smoother battle system

Origins = Best battle system of all SH games imho. Only flaw is the breakable items and the fact that you're able to carry a hundred weapons which is ridiculous.

2 = Story

1 = More of the nostalgia factor since it's the first one I played

4 = ???

@Re1Mu2R3 to me SM wasn't very good, the psychological part of it was good but it wasn't silent hill to me, no combat and only 1 type of monster that changes slightly. to my silent hill 3 and 1 are the best but i suppose everyone's opinions are different :)

Dear Waxer, If Noisy Hill has taught me anything, it's to expect the unexpected at every turn. Although you may feel that you had a rocky start, I would just like to state here and now that every series, be it T.V. or Youtube, must have a strong start. Sound quality isn't everything, the humor here could floor a depression patient with intense laughter. Don't ever change...Well ok, I guess once you fixed the sound quality it did sound a million times better. Thanks for the laughs!

I actually think the only thing wrong with the game is Henry. You learn practically nothing about him. I think they were going for a nameless mute thing (like Zelda, Grand theft auto 3 and Half Life).

I liked the story more than any Silent Hill and this next part is going to sound REALLY ridiculous but I liked the combat.

exactly you pinpointed it. It's Henry!!! He sucks I'm sorry to say. That's the biggest turn off of the game. Everything else is all there except fpr Henry. It had a good story line, good enemies, good concepts, but because the protaganist isn't very good it brings down the game.

I actually really enjoy the games music, but then again when does Akira Yamaoka ever go wrong?

They made it kinda difficult. I can get that, but then they had to have a game that didn't really take place in Silent Hill. It had all these cool pieces to a huge puzzles people have been picking up since the second game for it to work, so it would, shoulda, coulda been a good game. :(

What got me were the ghosts though... How can you have an enemy in SH that not only take away a lot of life when just being around, but you CANT kill??... That aint right.

The rusted metal is not necessary. Silent Hill 2 was great even without much of it anyway. They should have just kept the same gameplay, and it would have been better.

The soundtrack is composed by the Japanese composer Akira Yamaoka. Since he is Japanese, there is J-rock. I think he is the greatest videogame composer of all time. (And don't bombard me with things like "No, Nobou Uematsu is!" or something like that, because I'm entitled to my own opinion. Besides, Nobou is crazy awesome, but not my favorite.)
