ATC is an awesome job! Without ATC, you got huge caos at the air! Think twice again before you call them nerds when you travel on a plane. You reached your destination because pilot AND ATC, did an awesome job to get you safe to your destination. Think again.

vatsim isn't gonna test stress whatsoever. Though flying is fun, i don't see how moving 4 planes around is going to test whether you Are any good or ready for the atsat?
Working center by yourself during an event on vatsim and you are tracking 30-40 planes will test stress I promise you. Of course even that doesn't necessarily mean you would do good on the atsat though.

yeah! im not sure if i can play with my connectiong though, ive got satallite broadband, 512kb. i cant play anyother games. ive tried fsx with default multiplayer and it seems to just work. what do u think?
I think its funny people took this whole thing seriously, this was just a night in the dorms with ATC majors goofing around playing a very outmoded simple ATC simulation. I who made it happen to be in it, albeit Im a pilot in Alaska now and not ATC, who I fully appreciate cause they saved my ass once, in a near collision. Anyhow, for whats it worth, yeah they'll probably make double what I will then again, I wont need a double bipass and a substance abuse counselor.
For those of you calling them nerds just please remember the next time you fly on an airplane somewhere, they're the reason you don't crash and burn into another airplane or into the ground. They will make more money than you ever will and have one of the funnest, coolest jobs out there. Have fun with your burger flipping jobs assholes.

Get FSX and join a session where the pilots are actually well trained apart from the occasional dickhead that will sit on the runway or spawn at the runway. But flight sim X is fantastic for Atc on multiplayer although you need the Deluxe edition
no but sims help you with phrasology, and with situations your dont normally see on a daily bases so your ready in live traffic.... but hey your an expert.
opcart23: Buy ATC Simulator 2. It's good stuff, it simulates actual traffic for every TRACON in the US. On it you can do Departure, Approach or both. You can also download realtime traffic onto it or use it for multiplayer on flightsim.

you guys should get Microsoft flight simulator x and fly on the vatsim network, theres around 188000 members who fly live, you can be ATC as well.

Depends on where you live. UK - "London Control" is an excellent simulator. For the USA, there's ATC Simulator
