  • Goodnight Gracie!

  • I really have to respect George for how he had and displayed that strong committed love for Gracie up until his own demise.

  • George Burns: The epitome of class.

  • How could two people not like this? What is wrong with you two????

  • Class is Class, no matter how old it is. This was from the days when comedy made you laugh. Now people laugh out of sympathy for the comedian.

  • George Burns (not his real name) was nabbed trying to smuggle jewels into Israel.

  • We watched this great couple on a twelve inch Motarola television, then a 27" Zenith. Gracie is an angel because only an angel does what she did and that is simply she brought joy and laughter to the world in a non-stop fashion. Remember, they started out with the idea of Gracie being the straight person in the act. That changed in a matter of seconds when she spoke!! You two are loved forever. Thank you both.

  • When our children were little, we taught them to say goodnight...say goodnight Gracie! And then, we taught our grandkids. Burns and Allen, not to be forgotten

  • As a kid growing up in Texas, I loved watching his show. Thank you for the post.

    From Earl now in Ca.

  • i thought it was carlin when he first spoke

  • so beautiful :) they got married and fell in love and ... ahhhh

  • Your right clay, the dirty jokesters can't hold a candle to the older comedians

  • Thank you for everything Mr. Burns.

  • George visited her grave everyday when he was home. He loved my "Gracie wise sayings " scripts and even told me they were the best he ever read. He both belly laughed and cried when reading them. He missed her dearly and claimed he had to learn to be funny after she died. George was a gentle soul. Never a bad word about anybody. He always made Jck Benny laugh. Once at a funeral he whispered to Jack. " Remember Jack it's not polite to laugh at a funeral".Jack had to leave laughing uncontrollably.

  • I had the priviledge of writing comedy for George when he was old. He was a class act. I wrote scripts for him as if Gracie was still living. He loved them. Had her do sayings that she fumbled. IE. George I am going to have a kidney to kidney talk with myself. George: Isn't that heart to heart. Gracie : George you don't know much. How many hearts do you have " 1"

" How many kidneys do you have" "2" How can you have a heart to heart talk with yourself with just 1 heart. He loved it

  • lol still owe gracie three dollars... classic

  • I remember watching the show a few years back on deja view. . .wish they would put the re-runs on again. . .loved the show

  • Funny is funny no matter what. George Burns and Jack Benny worked "clean" and they were great. Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Lenny Bruce worked "dirty" and they were great too. Dice Clay works "dirty" and he sucks, so it's not clean or dirty that makes it funny, but material and talent. I suggest you read George's great book "All My Best Friends". Amazing book by a guy who saw it all! You can get it on Amazon for next to nithing and it's a great read.

  • I just finished "All My best Friends". It is amazing!

  • @Bopalena oh, all of his books were good :)

  • George Burns, Bob Hope, Groucho Marx, just to name a few. Now look at the so-called comedians we have today. They can't get three sentences into a set without bellowing out sh*t, f*ck or a**.

  • comedy my gentle friend, (to quote a man)

comedy is what the people laugh at.

sadly, this part of comedy has passed.

  • I don't know, napoleon dynamite seemed to be a hit, it did not rely on profanity.

  • I can't quite tell from your comment if you understood the irony in my comment that or not..

  • I get it now

  • @clayp72 Could not have said it better myself.

  • This is from one of Burns & Allen's first TV shows (when they appeared every other Thursday night on CBS), originally telecast live from New York in November 1950. George often retold the story of how he met Gracie in these monologues; his close friend Jack Benny once wrote in George's first book "I Love Her, That's Why" (1955), "George never tells the same story twice!".

  • ya know the good Lord himself must bebustting at the gut w/ all the wonderfull comedy he has w/ him

  • George Burns !!! We love you !!!

  • excellent!

  • George and Gracie....2 of the greatest!

  • Thank you. Iloved it.
