Too short but James K. Polk did do alot in four years. The morals of the outcome were suspect but the result greatly strengthened the United Sates. Without California, the Southwest and the Oregon territories the US would not be in the position of strength it is right now. Of course some believe that he hastened the Civil War which ironically also allowed the countries military might and technology to grow. It can be argued that Polk's policies led to the US becoming a Superpower.
