@jobyslaysdragonz11 i wish i could join im fit and 21 but would not put my life in risk for someone else to get richer i want to be a sent only to protect country!
@USM1985dos no because Recon is almost entirely focused on amphibious training. Ranger does drop a higher percentage of the class. So statistically speaking Ranger is harder. But Recon trains as a team not an individual. That's why more people pass Recon.
ive been seriously looking into seals or ranger school, unfortunately i just graduated with a bsn and every recruiter pushes me for officer school and to do healtcare, long story short i cant get a straight answer on how to get there from an enlist pov with a bachelors degree( if that at all matters) i just want to do things s*$% no one gets the chance to do and be elite, THis is identical to what i say to a recruiter and they think im F'ing joking, anybody with a clue thats accurate? thanks
@shooby106 Just let the recruiter know that you want Infantry WITH ranger and airborne IN YOUR CONTRACT! Make damn sure its in your contract and yes it is possible. If your recruiter tells you otherwise, see a different recruiter. Good luck to you.
@miked1997 im 15 also. make ssure you take 4 years of rotc at your high school if you can you can enlist as private first class instead of private minus about 12 months of waiting basicly also make sure your tough as nails if you can get involved in sports. make sure you are a master at push ups sit ups and pull ups you need to do ALOT of them in a short amount of time just to qqualify. if its possible run to your house from school instead of getting picked up umm oh ya
@miked1997 part 2: be ready for ruck marches i hear those are serious killers and knock out alot of ranger recruits basicly be prepared to haul a backpack type thing with about 60- 80 pounds of gear in it for 12 miles i think if you slow down at all you get dropped a big thing is work on your stamina. as in work on more being able to do things for long periods of time rather than alot in a short amount of time running helps with that so run alot umm dont worry to much about weightlift
@miked1997 or you could do rasp first which is preferable its a week shorter and upon finishing you automaticly become a ranger and are assigned a battalion . you can be a ranger and then do ranger school later but RASP is hard as shit to its first 4 day phase is almost an exact copy of the bud/s hell week training phase navy seals have to go through
My buddy went through Ranger school and also said that it was more the "army gayness" that made it suck, and not so much the physical and endurance stuff.
Gay is just the current Joe terminology for "This sucks and I don't want to do that". I heard that a lot from my Joe's on my last deployment. When I was a Joe we just said "Fuck the Army" then Fuck It, Drive On.
Tip Seven: Did I mention know the opords inside and out, and the handbook before you get there? No Nobody wants a dummy on his team. About how difficult is the PT? is it like the SF selection, where the first day is 18 hour PT? And what's the "minimum" weight for ruck marches? Some people tell me 35 (under regulation) while others tell me 65.
@SideWays8Productions Other than assessment or Camp Darby phase, the PT is mostly road marches and long patrols. NEVER EVER shoot for the minimum!!! You go for the maximum every time. You will get DQ'ed or recycled for trying that crap in Darby right off the bat. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
@this1sYiutube Well I didn't mean minimum PT requirements, which I never do (I've been training since I was 12) but I mean, what is the average weight for a ruck march? Some people tell me 35, others say 65.
I am only a Freshman in High School and I train every single day burn my self out 6 miles in 40 minutes trying to get 35 minutes 200 pushups 300 crunches every other day then swim workouts, pullups etc. Absolutely NO Drugs all in my mental and physical strength for no mistakes i have 4 years of training myself before Ranger School
I admire your enthusiasm, but running 6 miles everyday isn't every healthy. It's good to do it about 3 days a week. Not even here in the Army, instructors won't make you run 6 miles everyday.
@L0stmusic You can't go straight to Ranger School upon enlistment, but you can go to RASP and if you complete that, you can be in the 75th Ranger Regiment. I think you can go to Ranger School once you're an E-4.
@L0stmusic Hey brother way to go on the pt, but I've got to agree with vjdsjgc. To train for basic: do bodyweight calithenics, which you're already doing. Don't worry about runs any further than 5 miles. To train for Ranger School, ruck march like hell.
Hey Guys i am a Junior in HS and Im am planning on joining 18x special forces candidate any one that has done this can you help me out on any basic info facts please i cant find much information on the internet but PLEASE HELP!
@yank33g03 I no Special forces wasnt allways able to go into off the street, but few years ago they started sending new soldiers to pre selection which prepares you for actual SF selection. myself ive been in army for awhile and planning on going to selection. But they have said this pre selection course has 70 percent higher completion rate because they get you young and get you ready, I'd go to a local reqruiter because things change. dont want to tell you wrong
Your neighbor thinks your insane? That's because you are insane! You signed up to jump out of airplanes, get shot at, and even worse, go to Ranger School! R.L.T.W.
Don't go and be a fucking marine only to transfer over to be a ranger. That's one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. If you go marines, stay there. You want to be a ranger - join the army, get through basic, get your blue chord, get your fatass in shape, apply to ranger school, get your tab, and get into a bat. Just because you have the tab, it doesn't mean you're a ranger; only ranger qualified. Keep that in mind.
awesome video man, i plan on being a ranger but im only 16. do you have any tips for me to start preparing for it now? i did some research and i think joining the marines first than going to the ranger school would be best, would you agree?
Nice tip with the ruck and 240. I was an AG until my damn gunner ripped his foot open... Then I became the AG and the gunner for a good while. Wish I knew about that tip back then.
I have wanted to join the army for all my life and want to be a Ranger but now im really considering joining the marines instead but I still want to be and fight with the army rangers is there anyway I could be in the marines for a couple of years and then go to ranger training and if I pass stay in the army rangers and leave the marines
I'm sure someone has already answered this question, but if they haven't, the answer is no. A very select few Marines can go to Ranger school, but you can't go to RASP unless you are in the Army. But don't worry. If you are hardcore enough for the 75th Regiment, then you should have no trouble making it through a highspeed USMC course such as Recon. If not, then you probably wouldn't make it in the Regiment anyway.
For all you aspiring Rangers (myself included) Ranger School DOES NOT make you a Ranger (Spec-Ops)! Repeat: Ranger School DOES NOT make you a Ranger. I'm not sure where this misconception came from, but Ranger School is just a hardcore leadership course.
In order to go Ranger (Spec-Ops) you must go thru RASP to get the tan beret. Then and ONLY then will you join the 75th RGT.
Ranger School isn't even required for the 75th RGT unless you wanna be an NCO or CO in one of the 3 Bns.
Don't be so cocky just make sure u get over 250 on ur APFT I've seen people get dropped for airborne contracts ur not a soldier till u pass basic not an infantry man till you get that blue cord ur not a ranger till u get that tab and scroll
I am going to benning feb 6 to basic/ait then to airborne and after, ranger school. I have it in my contract, I am really appriciative of your advice. I have been preping as best I can. thanks - rangers lead the way!
Thanks for this video. My Army son is heading to Fort Benning for Ranger School this month. He served his country in 3 combat tours in Iraq/Afghanistan and completed Sniper School. He comes from a family of a Green Beret...and I have faith he will get through this rigorous course. Thanks again!
@TheOlliemac99 If you're lucky, you can get a RIP contract, but getting Ranger school in it, I haven't heard of that happening...but getting slots is hard enough.
RANGER school sure has changed since I went through 1995 Ice Storm Ranger Class 3-96. All we were allowing was Army issued gear. No head lights, sun glasses, boot insole etc...Oh well, no matter what you wear, no need to RANGER UP and FIGHT ON TO THE RANGER OBJECT and COMPLETE THE MISSION!!!!
@Hollywood357AceQue I graduated in Class 15-89 and it was all Army issue gear as well. There was Benning, Mountains, Florida and Desert phases. I guess that's changed as well. The best advice I received was "never be last at anything. Don't be the last to finish chow, load up your gear, finish a run or road march, etc. You don't have to be first, but never be last." That advice turned out to be spot on.
Wow, I'm glad I saw this video. ALOT of tips, more than anyone has said about Rangers to me. I Subscribed and also looking forward to joining the Army Rangers and hopefully one day maybe?.. become my dream MOS as a Sniper.
anywayz thanks, and good luck in Ranger school everyone and good luck iguardcaliforna guy.
@bigkevin182 yeah sniper isn't an MOS it's an MOS identifier if your 11b. Sniper just means your Bravo 4 qualified. Though you don't need to be B4 to be in a sniper section or scout platoon. Which is where you want to be.
Just going to post this; it may clarify things for you or you may already know this. To serve in the 75th ranger regiment, you attend Basic training, advanced individual training, airborne school, and then Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP). If you complete RASP, you will be assigned to the regiment. Many guys will attend Ranger School after RASP or after they were assigned to the Regiment. Ultimately, you will attend Ranger school sometime if you want to be a Ranger.
hey man, im headed to rasp (ranger assessment and selection) here in about a month and a half. this is a really good video for people looking for tips like these, but what kind of smartwool socks did you get?
@mryagermister you go in and Tell the recruiter you want an "11x Opt. 40" Contract, that is infantry with Ranger Training as your first assignment. If you can't get it because they are really rare then 11x work but you have to be one of the Top of your class through Basic and AIT and say how badly you want to be a Ranger then you will be able to go to RASP as well.
you went through the school, but how about the selection. i dont want to be ranger qualified, i want to BE a ranger. how hard is selection for the 75th
@mercturd85 Its a big suck fest. as long as you have the mindset that it can always get worse and you don't mind you will stick it out despite any injury or level of misery then it is very possible. During the first phase just shut your brain off and move. If you make it the first month then you will most likely make it. It's no joke, I have seen tabbed sgt's fail it when I made it as a private. Just stick with is the best advice for it.
im in iraq and working for a high up ranger tabbed dude i pray i get the honor of getting to go to Ranger school i failed out of their selection.. physically there but didnt even know what it was for....thx for the tips ssg
@metalwaffle94 Simply attending Ranger School does not mean that you're a Ranger, you are simply Ranger qualified. The tab is just a school, and our scroll is a way of life.
wow you know your stuff im guessing you found this out all the hard way?

Thanks for this video. My Army son is heading to Fort Benning for Ranger School this month. He served his country in 3 combat tours in Iraq/Afghanistan and completed Sniper School. He comes from a family of a Green Beret...and I have faith he will get through this rigorous course. Thanks again!

Do you just join the army and say I want to be a ranger
TheOlliemac99 6 months ago
@TheOlliemac99 haha EVERYONE wishes it was that easy! Sir, do some research.
MrHumbleJJ 6 months ago
@TheOlliemac99 If you're lucky, you can get a RIP contract, but getting Ranger school in it, I haven't heard of that happening...but getting slots is hard enough.

The Watch Is Called A Suunto Core Wrist-Top Computer Watch
Peanut5922 6 months ago
RANGER school sure has changed since I went through 1995 Ice Storm Ranger Class 3-96. All we were allowing was Army issued gear. No head lights, sun glasses, boot insole etc...Oh well, no matter what you wear, no need to RANGER UP and FIGHT ON TO THE RANGER OBJECT and COMPLETE THE MISSION!!!!
Hollywood357AceQue 7 months ago
@Hollywood357AceQue I graduated in Class 15-89 and it was all Army issue gear as well. There was Benning, Mountains, Florida and Desert phases. I guess that's changed as well. The best advice I received was "never be last at anything. Don't be the last to finish chow, load up your gear, finish a run or road march, etc. You don't have to be first, but never be last." That advice turned out to be spot on.

Wow, I'm glad I saw this video. ALOT of tips, more than anyone has said about Rangers to me. I Subscribed and also looking forward to joining the Army Rangers and hopefully one day maybe?.. become my dream MOS as a Sniper.
anywayz thanks, and good luck in Ranger school everyone and good luck iguardcaliforna guy.
bigkevin182 7 months ago 13
@bigkevin182
even if you dont become a ranger you can still become an army sniper
just fyi but good luck
divecommando 6 months ago
@bigkevin182 yeah sniper isn't an MOS it's an MOS identifier if your 11b. Sniper just means your Bravo 4 qualified. Though you don't need to be B4 to be in a sniper section or scout platoon. Which is where you want to be.

Back up batteries I mean
BieberH0le69 7 months ago
I really like those suunto watches but the core has a battery life of only a few months. Better take a few backups to ranger school. Just a tip
BieberH0le69 7 months ago
Just going to post this; it may clarify things for you or you may already know this. To serve in the 75th ranger regiment, you attend Basic training, advanced individual training, airborne school, and then Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP). If you complete RASP, you will be assigned to the regiment. Many guys will attend Ranger School after RASP or after they were assigned to the Regiment. Ultimately, you will attend Ranger school sometime if you want to be a Ranger.

DevinChief 8 months ago
hey man, im headed to rasp (ranger assessment and selection) here in about a month and a half. this is a really good video for people looking for tips like these, but what kind of smartwool socks did you get?
groves1990 8 months ago
how did you sign up for the army rangers did you just go to your local recruiting office and say i want to be a army ranger?
mryagermister 9 months ago
@mryagermister you go in and Tell the recruiter you want an "11x Opt. 40" Contract, that is infantry with Ranger Training as your first assignment. If you can't get it because they are really rare then 11x work but you have to be one of the Top of your class through Basic and AIT and say how badly you want to be a Ranger then you will be able to go to RASP as well.
Fals3Pretense 8 months ago
you went through the school, but how about the selection. i dont want to be ranger qualified, i want to BE a ranger. how hard is selection for the 75th
mercturd85 9 months ago
@mercturd85 Its a big suck fest. as long as you have the mindset that it can always get worse and you don't mind you will stick it out despite any injury or level of misery then it is very possible. During the first phase just shut your brain off and move. If you make it the first month then you will most likely make it. It's no joke, I have seen tabbed sgt's fail it when I made it as a private. Just stick with is the best advice for it.
kage223119 8 months ago
i thought they give you everything you need when you go into ranger school. i was wrong. how much would you say all that gear costs in total?

metalwaffle94 1 year ago 27
@metalwaffle94 Simply attending Ranger School does not mean that you're a Ranger, you are simply Ranger qualified. The tab is just a school, and our scroll is a way of life.
Even cooks attend Ranger school
