Regarding the birds; I produced this album for the company that released it (Metacom) and it, and all the CDs in this series of recordings, was all about music AND the sounds of nature. I argued with them that too much SFX could be detrimental, but they wanted it their way. You'll note, however, that the SFX do come down a bit for most of the piece. Yussi is a killer guitarist, and a great buy, btw.

I vote for THIS version and the melodious and magical sound of the birds catapults this mystical song to the very top! Flora and fauna goes with the song.
Just enjoy it. It's the premise of the tune. Love the trees and if birds live in the trees then we gonna have a hard time shutting them up. I tried once and they didn't listen!
And Rich Friedman is a very talent pianist and composer. You should hear the rest of this album!

Like most people that emitted comments,the birds would be better in a new age song,with dolphins etc.
Music is pure ,well played but destroyed by the birds.

@mollinawoman I have to agree, what a pity, guitar is supurb on its own, the birds are far too loud and not even that attractive sounding anyway.
