  • Nice repair. Most defrost timers on newer refrigerators are electronic and they're integrated in the control board.

  • its a timer. it turns the compressor on and off (e.g. on for 2hours off for 20min and so on)

  • It's a permanent magnet synchronous motor, like what is used in AC-driven clocks.
